Chapter 263: Chapter 0263: I Gave You a Chance [Part 1]
Hu Hua knew Director Li, after all, as the biggest entertainment company in East River, ranked among the top three in the whole Songjiang Province, it was impossible for Director Li not to know it.
"Do I need you to teach me how to handle things?" Director Li said unceremoniously.
Stymied by Director Li’s response, Hu Hua’s expression darkened as he retorted, "Director Li, I know you don’t get along with my uncle. But does this matter really need to be taken to such extremes?"
Upon hearing Hu Hua’s words, Director Li couldn’t help but sneer to himself.
Even now, Hu Hua still thought his actions were due to a personal discord with his uncle. To let such a person roam free would be an affront to justice and law. Moreover, if he didn’t take this opportunity to take down his uncle as well, he’d truly be doing himself a disservice.
Direcotr Li sternly warned, "Hu Hua, let me warn you. I’m here today to prevent illegal and disorderly conduct, not to settle personal grudges. My disagreement with Deputy Director Hu is merely a matter of principle. Moreover, I don’t believe these are Deputy Director Hu’s actions. He wouldn’t knowingly act unlawfully."
Little did Hu Hua know, he was walking right into a trap set by Director Li as he replied, "This is indeed what my uncle has done. If you don’t believe me, you can verify it with him right now."
Director Li listened and couldn’t help but feel delighted, but still maintained a serious demeanor, "I will verify the matter with Deputy Director Hu as you’ve said. If it’s true, then Deputy Director Hu will also be suspended."
Hu Hua snapped, "Spare me the official talk, Director Li. You’re hardly qualified to suspend my uncle. You should know who’s backing him above. If you want to exaggerate the issue, you’d better weigh your own capabilities first."
Enraged, Director Li retorted, "Even as an ordinary citizen, I won’t stand idly by in the face of these illegalities. The law applies equally to all, whether prince or pauper; no backing will make a difference."
With a cold laugh, Hu Hua said, "Director Li, it seems you’re determined to oppose me, so don’t blame me for what comes next."
Director Li responded, "It’s not that I’m opposing you, but rather you are opposing the laws of the nation!"
Hu Hua dismissed, "Enough with the official jargon. I’m laying it out for you right here. You have no say in today’s matter, so stop putting on an act. Whatever thoughts you have about Young Master Chu, I know his background better than you."
Chu Feng looked at Hu Hua and said, "Really? I’m not even sure of my own background, and you claim to understand it better? Is this what your master told you? Go on then, what do you know about my background?"
Gazing at Chu Feng with a sneer, Hu Hua belittled, "You’re just a regular university student who climbed the ladder through flattery. Now that the An Family’s Princess has gone abroad, you’re bereft of support."
Chu Feng observed Hu Hua with an odd expression, "Is this what your master has told you?"
Without caring, Hu Hua spat, "Who told me is none of your business. All I know is that everything you’re showing now is nothing but bluster."
After a pause, Hu Hua, with a lecturing tone, turned to Director Li and said, "Director Li, you probably don’t realize that this so-called Young Master Chu before you is now without substance, his support gone. So, Director Li, I advise you against getting involved in this matter to avoid getting burned."
Director Li couldn’t help but sneer internally upon hearing this. Chu Feng didn’t rely on the An Family; Chu Feng’s background didn’t necessitate leaning on the An Family at all.
However, inwardly, Director Li was elated. The more vicious Hu Hua’s words, the quicker his downfall would be.
"Chu Feng, embarrassed now that I’ve exposed your facade? Beg me now, and maybe I’ll spare you this once," Hu Hua said, looking at Chu Feng with an assured grin.
Chu Feng shook his head and deferred, "Director Li, it’s your call on how to handle this. Also, since this involves his uncle, let’s deal with it in one go."
With a sneer, Hu Hua retorted, "You’re depending on him? He’s not fit to handle my uncle. My uncle’s position isn’t even within his purview."
Chu Feng looked towards Director Li, who showed a troubled expression as he said, "Yes, Young Master Chu, his uncle is the first Deputy Director in the department and any decisions must go through the Standing Committee of the City Party."
Chu Feng nodded, "In that case, I won’t trouble you further. I’ll take care of this matter myself."
Looking down on Chu Feng, Hu Hua mocked, "Who do you think you are, the City Party Secretary?"
Chu Feng, deeming Hu Hua unworthy of further attention, directly made a call to He Jianguo.
He Jianguo, who was reviewing documents, hurriedly picked up the call from his personal phone.
"Is there an issue, Uncle He?" asked He Jianguo respectfully.
Chu Feng replied, "It’s this..."
After Chu Feng finished explaining, He Jianguo’s expression darkened as he ordered, "Uncle He, please let Comrade Li Jianye take the call."
Chu Feng nodded, handed the phone to Li Jianye, and said, "Director Li, someone wishes to speak with you."
Li Jianye took the phone, stating, "This is Li Jianye."
"This is He Jianguo!" He Jianguo stated gravely.
"Secretary He... Secretary..." Li Jianye stammered upon hearing the name He Jianguo.
Li Jianye had met He Jianguo, but only at enlarged City Party meetings. Although he had He Jianguo’s phone number, He Jianguo likely didn’t have his. Their previous interactions were merely cursory greetings.
He had never imagined a conversation like this. Even less so did he think a call from Chu Feng could go straight through to He Jianguo. After all, He Jianguo was one of the top leaders in Songjiang Province, a giant even within East River.
"Do you have any instructions, Secretary He?" Li Jianye asked respectfully.
He Jianguo commanded, "Handle everything according to regulations. Ignore any resistance you might encounter. I will notify the Disciplinary Committee to conduct an investigation."
"Yes, Secretary He, I understand!" Li Jianye replied earnestly.
After hanging up the phone, Li Jianye returned it to Chu Feng with even greater respect, saying, "Your phone, Young Master Chu."
Chu Feng asked, "Director Li, you know what to do now, right?"
Li Jianye replied, "I understand."
Watching Li Jianye, Hu Hua mocked, "Director Li, your acting skills are truly impressive. ’Secretary He’? Are there any Secretaries with the surname He in the Cultural System?"
Li Jianye sneered, "I never said Secretary He was from the Cultural System. The Secretary He I was speaking of is the City Party Secretary."
"City Party... Secretary." Hu Hua began to retort, but abruptly swallowed his words, realizing the City Party Secretary indeed carried the surname He. Moreover, he was convinced Li Jianye wouldn’t dare joke about such a matter.
