Chapter 256: Chapter 256: I’m Not Familiar With Him At All

Chu Feng drove to the agreed place, and, guided by the server, entered the restaurant.

"Chu Feng, you’ve arrived, welcome, welcome!" As soon as Chu Feng entered the restaurant, Jin Yu greeted him with a smile beaming across his face.

Chu Feng took a look around, noticing that the restaurant’s decor was completely traditional. The first floor was a large hall, with a massive bonsai creating the ambience of a little bridge over flowing water, and there was also a traditional song and dance performance underway. It truly felt like a return to ancient times, a return to nature.

The second floor consisted entirely of private rooms, which were the kind that were half open so one could dine while enjoying the performance below.

"I wouldn’t have thought you’d be so lousy, but the place you picked is actually pretty good," Chu Feng commented casually.

Chu Feng’s words instantly stiffened the smile on Jin Yu’s face.

Looking at Jin Yu, Chu Feng smiled and said, "Don’t be angry, I was just joking. I was actually complimenting you for choosing a good place."

If Chu Feng hadn’t said anything, it might have been better, but after he spoke, Jin Yu’s expression turned even more ashen.

By saying that, how do you expect me to continue the conversation?

Should I say thank you? Isn’t that just asking to be insulted?

Eventually, after holding back for a long while, Jin Yu said, "Let’s talk while we eat."

It was a completely uninspiring remark, but Jin Yu really didn’t know what else to say. Additionally, Jin Yu was starting to regret having invited Chu Feng to dinner.

When the two of them arrived in the private room, Chu Feng swept his eyes around casually, pausing for a moment on the room opposite.

That was because Chu Feng saw that Jin Enhui and Iga Jasheng seemed to be entertaining guests there as well.

Seeing this scene, Chu Feng had some understanding of Jin Yu’s intentions.

Jin Yu was planning to divert disaster, to intensify the conflict between himself and Elite Society.

Knowing that Jin Yu had no good intentions, Chu Feng was all the less inclined to be courteous to Jin Yu.

"Brother Chu, we have had misunderstandings before, but yesterday you were willing to risk your life to save me, and I apologize for that," Jin Yu, having adjusted his emotions, respectfully raised a toast and said.

Chu Feng replied, "I didn’t have any misunderstandings."

Before Jin Yu could respond, Chu Feng added, "The issues between us are based on actual conflicts, you want me dead, and I don’t want you to live. I’m already aware of the reason you’ve invited me to dinner, you want to thank me for saving your life. I know you come from a prestigious family, so I imagine the gift of thanks you’ve prepared for me should be quite exceptional. Give it to me now. That way, you don’t have to keep up the insincere smiles."

Chu Feng’s directness took Jin Yu aback.

According to Jin Yu’s script, the scene wasn’t supposed to play out like this. The two of them at least had to appear close, toasting and drinking together for a while, to show the people opposite them.

Chu Feng’s upfront approach completely disrupted Jin Yu’s arrangements and plans.

While Jin Yu was thinking about how to adjust his plan accordingly, Chu Feng felt a sharp gaze upon him.

Chu Feng met the gaze and saw, across in the other private room, Iga Jasheng, who looked at him with full hostility.

For Iga Jasheng, the desire to flay Chu Feng alive was natural, so of course, there was no friendly expression to be had.

Jin Enhui, on the other hand, appeared indifferent, even raising her glass from afar to salute Chu Feng.

Seeing that the foreign friend was already being so courteous, Chu Feng naturally couldn’t be too petty. He also picked up his wine glass and raised it across the space to the other party as a gesture of respect.

When Jin Yu realized that both parties had discovered each other, he no longer cared to overthink and proceeded with his next plan of action.

Jin Yu took out the gift he had prepared for Chu Feng, then said, "This is a small token I’ve prepared for you, Chu Feng, not much, but it represents my sentiments."

Chu Feng looked at the person standing behind Jin Yu, holding a long, rectangular box, and said, "It’s not a banner of appreciation in this box, is it? Your Jin Family wouldn’t be that stingy. Just spend ten bucks and get a banner made for me."

Jin Yu really felt an urge to flip the table. Even if his Jin Family was in dire straits, they wouldn’t give away a banner.

Barely containing his anger, Jin Yu said, "Of course not, this is a painting by Taoist Wu of the Tang Dynasty, the Painting Saint."

When Chu Feng heard it was a painting, his interest seemed lackluster as he responded, "Oh, it’s a painting. Does it have high value?"

Jin Yu felt truly insulted, but still suppressing his rage, he said, "This painting was auctioned by my father a few years ago for twelve million."

Chu Feng nodded with apparent understanding and said, "That’s quite valuable then. Why don’t you cash it out for me? A gentleman doesn’t deprive others of their beloved possessions."

Jin Yu really felt like he was being driven insane. He thought being with Chu Feng was truly a torment.

"Fine, since you insist, I’ll accept it. I’ll hang it in my bedroom to cultivate my sentiment," said Chu Feng as he took the painting and then promptly lowered his head to start eating.

"Alright, thanks given, let’s start eating. Let’s not waste food, that’s the most shameful act," Chu Feng stated.

In order to carry on with the charade, Jin Yu also forced himself to eat with a smile in Chu Feng’s company.

After finishing the meal, Chu Feng stood up and announced, "Alright, I’m full now, I’m leaving."

"I’ll see you out!" said Jin Yu, glancing across the room and quickly getting to his feet.

Jin Yu accompanied Chu Feng downstairs and to the doorway, where he saw Jin Enhui and a middle-aged man with gold-rimmed glasses, obviously a successful personality, coming down together.

"Mr. Chu, are you and Mr. Jin well-acquainted?" Jin Enhui asked with a smile.

Before Jin Yu could speak up, Chu Feng said, "I’m not close with him. The reason he invited me here today is because you all wanted me to take the fall for something, but I didn’t cooperate. I merely saved his worthless life, and he’s here to thank me for that. He invited me to dinner today, and I won’t hit him, but once I’m out this door, I’ll forget all about him inviting me."

Jin Yu’s face turned an ashen blue, enraged. Chu Feng was completely unpredictable. He had taken Jin Yu’s gift but still shamelessly disrespected him.

Jin Enhui’s eyes lit up upon hearing Chu Feng’s words.

"Are you in such a hurry to disassociate yourself because you’re afraid of us?" said Iga Jasheng.

That remark from Iga Jasheng gave Jin Yu a glimmer of hope.

Chu Feng looked at Iga Jasheng and replied, "It would be closer for me to throw an egg at you than to be wary of you all. Don’t think too highly of yourself, will you? Just because you act cold all the time doesn’t mean you’re any higher. Sometimes hell can be very cold too."

Iga Jasheng, upon hearing Chu Feng’s words, was about to get angry, but Jin Enhui stopped him with a glance.

"Who are you to speak to Mr. Iga like that!"

Although Iga Jasheng was restrained, the middle-aged man standing next to Jin Enhui began to speak in a haughty manner.

Looking at the portly middle-aged man, Chu Feng replied, "It’s one thing to be a dog, but to be a running dog, especially a traitorous one, is quite disgusting. You don’t have a say here. Such a second-rate citizen in front of foreigners, you’re only fit to be a third-rate lackey in Huaxia."
