On the balcony of the Kuonji residence, Aoko Aozaki leaned against the stone railing, her head tilted back, a pair of binoculars in her hands, gazing at the large mansion on the opposite slope.

"Ah!!! The little one left ages ago. Why haven’t those other three little brats left yet!!!" Aoko said, chewing on a blade of grass, her face a mask of annoyance.

Aoko’s goal was simple: take out the witness, Haru, with a few well-aimed magic bullets, then go back to her normal, boring life.

But there were five people in the mansion on the hill. Alice had suggested she just rush the mansion, go on a violent rampage, and solve the problem once and for all.

But Aoko had flatly refused.

She wasn’t a psychopathic killer. Being forced to kill one innocent person for the sake of the mages’ principles was already hard enough. To rush into the mansion and slaughter a man and four children... she thought she’d go insane.

In the end, though Aoko had entered the world of magic, unlike those mages who had shed their humanity, she still possessed the values of a normal person.

In Alice’s words—fallen into darkness, yet still possessing a pure heart, Aoko was a prodigy, completely oblivious to her own natural disposition.

"Eh, they’re leaving, they’re leaving!" Aoko quickly straightened up, tightening her grip on the binoculars.

In her line of sight, Haru and Akiha and the others emerged from the house, waving goodbye to the daughters who were heading to school.

"Finally gone." Aoko’s lips curved upwards. She dropped the binoculars, rushed into the room, grabbed her down jacket from the coat rack, and sprinted down the stairs.

"Lucky!! I’ll just take care of that rich merchant in the mansion, then get rid of the body, and it’ll be over." Aoko, pulling on her white down jacket, panted, crossing the dirt path in front of the Kuonji residence and jogging to the slope leading to the mountaintop.

"Huh?!!" Before she even set foot on the solid concrete road, Aoko saw Haru’s figure walking past. The hunter’s smile on her face vanished without a trace.

"You’ve got to be kidding me. He was at the mansion on the mountaintop just now. How did he get to the foot of the mountain so fast?" Aoko panted, trying to catch her breath, her expression shocked as she watched Haru’s retreating back.

While Aoko was stunned, Haru leisurely walked into the city. Realizing her mistake, she raised an eyebrow, her expression one of annoyance. "He’s actually going out!"

After a moment’s hesitation, she cautiously followed Haru, though her clumsy tracking skills wouldn’t have fooled even a normal person, let alone Haru, with his hyper-intuition.

Haru raised an eyebrow, straightened his black overcoat, and, without turning his head, saw Aoko hiding behind a utility pole, her image reflected in the atmosphere around him.

A strange expression crossed his face. "Yesterday it was Alice, today it’s Aoko? What’s with these two?" he thought, puzzled.

His first thought was that his identity had been exposed. But then he reconsidered.

If Aoko and Alice knew who he was, they’d probably be avoiding him like the plague.

After all, in this world, Haru’s three identities—True Magic User, God, and True Ancestor—all represented absolute ’violence.’ Besides a masochist, no one would want to get close to a rampaging T-Rex and enjoy the thrill of having their life hang by a thread.

"Let’s just wait and see." Haru’s lips curved upwards, a look of amusement on his face as he observed the girl’s clumsy tracking skills with his perception. He’d made his decision.

With such a massive power gap, Aoko and Alice couldn’t possibly escape his grasp, no matter how much they struggled. Since that was the case, why not see what kind of interesting moves they’d make?

A wicked grin on his face, Haru strode towards the supermarket ahead.

————

"Ah~~~ damn it! You could have just stayed at home and waited to die. Why did you have to come out and buy groceries!!!"

Aoko, suppressing her inner annoyance, stood before a supermarket shelf, pretending to be deciding which product to buy, her gaze constantly darting towards the checkout counter.

"That’ll be three hundred thousand yen. Thank you for your patronage," the supermarket cashier said with a radiant smile, bowing slightly to Haru.

She had good reason to be happy.

The big spender before her had just purchased the equivalent of three hundred thousand yen worth of high-end ingredients.

And the cashier, who lived on commission, would get a nice cut from this single transaction, enough to cover half a month’s salary. Who wouldn’t be happy?

Hearing the staggering sum of three hundred thousand yen, the surrounding shoppers looked on in shock.

Haru, his expression calm, took out his wallet, flipped through the bills, and placed thirty of them on the counter. He picked up the plastic bags filled with ingredients and strode out of the supermarket.

Many beautiful women, seeing his bulging wallet, their eyes lit up, and they followed him.

Seeing Haru leave, Aoko immediately followed, stepping out of the supermarket and looking around, searching for his figure.

"Huh?!" Then, Aoko froze.

Haru, his expression calm, looked at the brightly-dressed, beautiful woman clinging to him.

As she writhed against him, her ample chest intentionally or unintentionally brushed against his arm. She even grabbed his hand and brazenly pulled it towards her... groin.

"Hey, handsome, need some company?" A seductive voice purred in his ear.

The Japanese citizens walking by were already used to such scenes. Some women even looked on with envy.

In the early 90s, after the collapse of the economic bubble, Japanese women, accustomed to a life of luxury, suddenly found themselves with limited funds, which led to a variety of strange phenomena.

And compensated dating was a prominent example of these strange phenomena.

What’s more, this was a country where prostitution was legal, so such interactions were even more brazen.

"Sorry, I prefer pure student types."

Haru, his expression calm, pulled his hand back. Without another word, Haru’s meaning was clear: the woman was unclean.

"Tsk, what’s so great about a virgin!" the woman muttered under her breath, letting Haru pull his hand away.

She still had some sense of shame. To be rejected once in public was one thing, but to try again would be to invite scorn. However, as he walked away, Haru’s lip twitched as he looked at the pure, innocent young woman in the white down jacket before him.

"Mister, need some company?" Aoko said with a sweet smile, though her azure eyes held the cold, merciless gaze of a hunter eyeing its prey.
