Bye, My Ruthless Alpha
Chapter 22: Sophia’s Wicked Plan

Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Sophia’s Wicked Plan

I lost myself in my thoughts and couldn’t remember how long it took to fall asleep finally.

When I woke up to the bright morning sunshine, I let out a long sigh as I slid from bed and made my way towards the bathroom.

I was in for another long day of doing nothing.

A soft knock on the door drew my attention, and I watched as one of the maids brought in a small tray of fresh fruits, pastries, juice, and coffee.

Breakfast time. The same revolving routines made me feel more robotic than alive.

"Thank you," I said to the young woman, who bowed her head to me and turned, her blond curls bouncing upon her head as she left without a word.

She had been the one who brought me my food the last few days, and even though she didn’t speak, it made me smile to think I had someone here.

Brushing my hair I decided on a long white cotton dress to lay around in for the day. After all, I wasn’t going anywhere– I wasn’t allowed to.

After my simple morning routine, I drifted from the bathroom toward the tray of food and picked up the small white cup of coffee, bringing it slowly to my lips.

The rich, dark flavor swirled in my mouth. I tried to stay positive by focusing on the deliciousness of the food.

However, the commotion outside my door caught my attention.

"Miss Sophia, Beta Lucas, the Alpha is not here right now," I heard one of the Black Shadow warriors saying.

"I know he’s not here. I just haven’t seen this area before. Why is it a problem?"

"Miss Sophia, please leave."

"How dare you? Who do you think you are?"

I put down my coffee and was about to go over and check it out, but then changed my mind.

I had been warned not to go out, and I knew my place well enough to follow those instructions.

The reality was that, the more I would like to stay away from trouble, the more trouble found its way to me.

Sure enough, it didn’t take long before the door burst open, and the angry, judgmental gaze of a tall, slender brunette girl landed on me. She had her hand on her hip and looked dead set on causing problems.

"Who are you?" she asked, curiosity sparking in her eyes.

She must’ve been one of the newcomers. I hadn’t seen her before. Right behind her was a tall blonde woman with striking blue eyes.

"Not in the mood to chat? Fair enough. Let me introduce myself: I’m Sophia," she said, extending her hand toward me. "It’s my first time here. Nice to meet you."

I furrowed my brow and stayed silent, unsure what to make of her.

"This is my maid, Joy," she added, glancing back at the woman behind her before walking closer to me and brushing her fingers through my hair.

"Wow, your hairstyle is something else—who even wears their hair like that anymore?" she remarked, clearly unimpressed. She herself was dressed to the nines, sporting the latest look. "I mean, only women from the 14th to 16th centuries wore their hair like that, right?"

I just smiled and kept quiet.

"You definitely have a way nicer room than I do. Did Cayden hook you up?" she asked.

"Yeah," I replied. Cayden was always so nice to me, and it made Sophia a bit jealous.

"I have to say, Tori’s hair looks really pretty." I was totally caught off guard when Cayden showed up. "Honestly, Miss Sophia, it’s kind of rude to come over in a skirt that’s a bit too short." Cayden wasn’t having it.

Sophia just glared at Cayden, clearly annoyed. She said goodnight in a huff and left with her Beta. And then Cayden also left.

Later that evening, Kas swung by to drop off dinner, and as we strolled through the garden, she brought up Sophia. She was fuming. "I’ve heard that Sophia is really stuck-up, spoiled, and has a knack for playing tricks, so watch yourself!" Kas warned.

Just as I was about to respond, I caught the sound of Sophia’s high-pitched voice nearby.

"When she falls asleep, I’m going to cut her braids off!" Sophia was fuming and came up with a scheme. "Didn’t Cayden say her hair looked great? We should cut it! Let’s see how she’s going to seduce Cayden without her hair."

"Totally!" Joy, her maid, chimed in with excitement.

"She’s unbelievable!" Kas said, clearly annoyed. "I can’t just stand by and let her hurt you."

"What are you thinking of doing?" I asked. Should I tell Cayden about Sophia’s plan? But I didn’t want to drag him into this mess.

Kas paused for a second, then leaned closer and whispered her idea.

"Are you sure about this?" I asked, a bit hesitant.

"Trust me, I know how to handle mean girls like her," she replied confidently. "Since she was the one who started this, we won’t feel bad about giving her a taste of her own medicine."

Later that evening, the plumbing in the villa broke, and my bathroom was out of order—only one on the second floor was working. When I went to take a shower, Sophia had already claimed it. After that, her maid and her Beta took over. I ended up waiting until 9:30 p.m. before it was finally my turn to use the shower.

After I finished showering, I dried my hair and made my way back to my room.

"Come on, Joy!" I could hear Sophia calling. Sophia and her maid Joy were about to cut my hair.

"I don’t want to cut her hair now. I want to scratch her face. She has a stunning face. I don’t know who she’ll plague in the future," Sophia said viciously.

Joy was excited, too. "You think we’re going to get yelled at by Alpha Marcus?"

Sophia shot back, "Does Alpha Marcus love me or her?"

"Of course, he loves you, Miss Sophia! You’re his daughter. Even if you scratched her face, he wouldn’t blame you at all. And Cayden won’t blame you either for being the supreme guest of honor," Joy chimed in, practically fawning over Sophia.

The moonlight lit up their innocent faces, but a hint of jealousy lurked beneath the surface.

Their voices were low, but I heard every word.

They crept over to my side of the bed, grabbed the scissors, and leaned in close to the pillow. I could feel the tension rising, and just then, a scream pierced the air. "Ah!"

It was Sophia’s maid, Joy, screaming her lungs out throughout the house.
