Chapter 40: Goblin Warriors
Chapter 40: Goblin Warriors
"Hide!"
Milan warned in a low and serious tone as soon as he spotted the goblins approaching the cave.
Ragnar and Noah obliged abruptly, quickly hiding behind the trees near them, and Milan did so as well.
They slowly peeked at the goblins.
The goblins were about the height of an average teenager, they had signature green-pigmented skin and visible muscular builds. Each of them wore a skirt made of leaves.
Ragnar activated power inspection on the goblins.

Goblin Warrior — Level 4
Physique: 4.0
Agility: 3.0
Spirit: 1.0

’Level 4,’ Ragnar thought. ’They are indeed strong, if a dozen of these ugly fucktards storm the hamlet, everyone would be slaughtered in less than ten minutes.’
’These goblins are already level 4, the other goblins inside would definitely be above that, and if there are magic wielders amongst them, fighting them at my current level would be disadvantageous.’
’But I could come back later to take care of them if I cross level 8,’ Ragnar concluded.
While he inspected their combat powers and made up plans, Noah and Milan kept their eyes peeled on the goblins as they approached their hideout.
"CHEEE!"
One of the goblins suddenly called for the other four to halt. It scanned its surroundings with a serious expression on its ugly face before letting out another bestial sound to alert the others to continue moving.
The goblins finally made it into the cave and gradually disappeared from their sight.
"Huff..." the three of them heaved low sighs of relief.
"This is a new hideout of theirs," Milan whispered to the two of them.
"There are other hideouts spread across the forest close to the Hamlet, the goblins are really active as we suspected," he continued.
Noah looked really concerned. He took a sneak peek at the cave, which seemed empty and ordinary, and slowly muttered, "There should be dozens of them in there."
"Definitely," Milan responded, his tone saddening. "The goblins are crafty territory builders, if we weren’t fortunate to spot those goblins, we would’ve stepped into their traps—and death would have been the best fate if we got caught."
Ragnar and Noah knew exactly what he hinted on.
Ragnar recalled a popular anime back on Earth and the disastrous nature of goblins towards humans, especially beautiful women.
’Even thinking about that makes me want to set that entire cave on fire,’ Ragnar thought.
The three of them stalled in the area for a few minutes before cautiously strolling away.
They arrived at their designated resting spot for the night.
At the moment, the moon had just climbed in the sky, and its dull light provided dim lighting adequate enough to see only a few steps ahead, clearly.
The night atmosphere was chilly.
Unfortunately, campfires could not be made, as they would only draw the attention of the monsters lurking around, especially the goblin hideout a few walks away.
"We should eat," Ragnar said, distributing canned food to the two of them.
Milan and Noah thanked him, opened their canned food, and devoured the meals within.
"You two can go to rest, I can watch over the area till morning," Ragnar suggested.
"Are you sure?" Milan asked. "It would be better if we take turns watching, that way everyone would have rested enough for the hunt tomorrow."
"Do not worry about me, my body can make do without a night of sleep," Ragnar smiled and assured them.
Milan sighed and decided not to argue with him, finding a beat spot to rest.
"I’ll accompany you till I fall asleep. I’m not sleepy yet," Noah said.
"Aiit," Ragnar replied.
Both youth stayed up, eyes constantly scanning their environment.
The chirping sound of insects and birds could be heard around them, as well as the gentle hum from the tree branches dancing in accordance with the night wind.
Time went by gradually as the two of them peeled their eyes open.
Noah fell asleep a few hours later.
Ragnar remained awake.
He felt sore from sitting too long and decided to stroll around just a little bit.
He was strolling around cautiously when he heard the sounds of wings flapping. From the sound, he could tell it wasn’t the wings of an ordinary bird.
He instinctively hid himself behind a tree and observed his surroundings.
Just then, he spotted a large bird-like creature flying at an insane speed. Although its speed was excellent enough to escape the observation of human eyes, Ragnar’s high spirit attribute made it possible for him to observe more of its features.
’Monsterborn.’
Ragnar noticed the extreme familiarity with the monsterborn they spotted that day.
’But it wasn’t this big that day,’ Ragnar thought. ’Could it be that it had grown stronger or could it be another monsterborn entirely?’
Unfortunately, he was unable to use [Power Inspection] on it.
’It is flying in the direction of the Hamlet,’ Ragnar became concerned.
What if the monsterborn decide to behave differently today and attack his people?
’I hope that doesn’t happen!’ Ragnar prayed secretly. He could not afford to lose any of his people at this point.
He waited behind the tree for just a small amount of time till the monsterborn was out of sight. Afterwards, he strolled back to his colleagues.
Fortunately, no harm had come their way.
Ragnar opened his inventory, just brought out the magic-gem, and stared at it silently.
His goal — recover the MP he had exhausted from using [Power Inspection] and if time allows, gain a few spirit attribute points.
Without wasting time, he just sat down in a meditative position and began meditating.
Time went by silently and peacefully.

_10th Hamlet_
It was nighttime and the people had gone to sleep.
At the twin place, Merlina could be seen using the light from the clay oil lamp to read a small old book.
Her beautiful face held a peaceful and intelligent expression as her eyes gently absorbed the writing on the old book.
At the same time, outside her hut, a skinny middle-aged man could be seen tiptoeing closer with a creepy grin on his face.
