Building My Guild With A Blank Scroll -
Chapter 88: A Deal Gone Wrong–2
Chapter 88: A Deal Gone Wrong–2
Seated around the table was Kenze and Aldren. In rags, his middle aged features were still visible being a spiritualist
in his hundreds. He was one of the second-in-commands of the mercenary guild working for the Lux Corporations.
"It all began with the event, although from my perspective it was with sweet Kruella. I had her in my arms as she ro—"
"Can we skip that part, Kenze."
"Haha, sure thing boy, sure thing."
"After filling her up, that was when it began as I pulled out—" Alden’s hand went to his forehead, massaging it and not knowing what to say anymore. Soon, the words began to fade from his ears until something was mentioned.
"A beast?"
"It looked like one, a scar wolf but tens of feet more than one. I had never seen something that huge before in my life. I had heard stories, and they never spoke about them being around this kingdom.’
"Are you telling me it’s monster, but that’s impossible." He mumbled, finding his own words to be difficult to believe.
"I know I was a coward, Drian and the others never gave a damn about the guild members but I did. I was a coward to suggest we run, but— but— oh noo, why?!! Why Alden?!! Why?!! Kruella!!"
At this point, he couldn’t tell whether he was pained and mourning the loss of his guild or mistress— probably both. However, that was forming the least of his current problems as he needed to know something.
"Who’s at Renville then?"
"I alone survived, i and the little one. It’s rubble now, had gone there to check if it had all been a bloody nightmare."
’If so then, they should be back soon.’ Alden thought, now wondering about the asset.
"But, from—" He was barely heard speaking by the absent minded Alden, when he was cut in by him.
"You spoke of a child?"
"Yes, yes. She isn’t mine, but that of two good comrades of mine. I couldn’t leave her to die, that would be too much blood on me."
"Right, so we’ll grab her and have you both sent to the guild for your safety."
"Ah, that’s so thoughtful of you my boy. Where’s your brother, Thammy boy I believe?"
"Tham... he’s dead."
"Oh, this... I’m— I’m sorry to hear that, what—what happened?"
"Better we had you settled in first."
Getting off the table and heading for the door, both of them glanced at each other and suddenly sat back. Soon, the door slid open and one of Alden’s men came in— panting.
"There... there’s something you’ll need to see for yourself." He informed.
*NGAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!
"Eeek, was it me or did the world shake?"
"Shut it, Efi. That’s the master’s child we’re talking about." Dalki cooed, the other nodding in return.
"So the only real wife of father, cheated?" Selena mouthed as she stood in the large room with the others.
"Real, you serious? Did you fall from the sky or something?" Dalki asked, wondering what was meant by real.
"He never married my mother, she was a mere plaything who died after birthing triplets."
"Ohhh, great. Definitely not sorry for that, Lux."
"Ugh, didn’t care anyways."
"Master." Rumel approached Tham from behind, as he stood there smiling with his eyes on the newly born child. Catching his name being said, he turned back as his cheerful smile only raised the temperature in the room for her.
"Ah, Rumel you’re back! Haha, I’m a father now."
"Congratulations, Master— your aims always hit."
"Huh?"
"Congratulations, Master— a lovely thing you have there."
"Congratulations, Master— I’ll be ready to take care of every needs of it."
Selena stood there with her eyes wide open and shifting among the three. ’What’s wrong with them?’
"Ahem, alright. Are you done, Rumel?"
"Yes, Master. There’s also something requiring your attention." She brought out a storage ring.
"It would be better you brought it out, it’s okay."
"Yes, Master."
’A letter?’ Tham wondered who would send him one, since no one knew where he was. Opening it up, the first word alone had caught his attention.
"Renville has fallen, attacked by the enemies of the Lux Corporations. They have taken one of the biggest hit ever and the Umpirals are suspected to have had a big hand in this. The current hold what’s left of the fortress of pleasure and the other organizations aren’t challenging them. Other rumors about a beast attack are spreading, a monster some said. However, the unchanging fact is the Umpirals are taking over the crown." Reading the words after, he could see it was to the Chief of Tilon and he caredless of his spies.
"Would my brothers be aware of this?" It was more of a rhetorical question as he received no answer.
’We’ve dealt with the Umpirals before and changing to Lux didn’t end well with them. If the district is in their hands then, they are in trouble.’ Everyone stood there looking at him, waiting for him to say or do something at least.
"Rumel."
"Yes, Master."
"Wait, Dalki and Efi do make sure they get all that they need. Who are you?"
"I’m—"
"Nevermind, follow me Rumel, we need to hurry." The two were soon heading out of the room.
"Uh?" Dalki felt something bumping her side.
"I’m Efi and you’re Dalki. I got the three word, i knew it was mine all along."
"Nahh, no biggie, Efi."
"Hah, always concedes easily. Anyways, it fits me so well."
"No it doesn’t."
"Heyyyy! It does and infact I’ll take away your name and give you, and give you— shoe?"
"What? Are you kidding me?"
"Buh she’s not a kid?"
*SHUT UP!!
"Okie okie."
Making their way through the hallway, the two could be seen.
"Master?"
"There’s something you want to say?"
"Yes, Master. Actually, i wouldn’t be able to keep up with you on the mount."
"So, you’re asking for the beast instead."
"No, no, Master— i wouldn’t dare."
"Good then, we’ll take the beast together."
"Oh, okay, Master." Rumel replied, as if he had decided to simply turn back. He wouldn’t have been able to tell the difference between her face and a chili pepper.
"Ahh, Alden Fern himself everyone!! Or should I say Lord Fern, though titles don’t work around these parts, else I’d be Chief—hahahaa!!" A figure in a black and orange tabard said, breaking into, laughter as Alden came down stairs. A clearing had been made as one of his men stood before the staircase, alert with a hand ready to draw out his saber.
"Trin, right? Or did I get it wrong?" Alden said, now downstairs.
"Hahaha, one can never forget their first dealers, first love i prefer say— haha!" Trin was up again in another round with his men.
"I don’t believe the Umpirals love their jokes more, than their gold?" Alden took a seat at the table while inviting the other.
"Ah, well you’re sure right about that." Trin joined him on the table. "Let’s cut the chase then, there has been a change of power and the Umpirals now rule. As you can see, the Danes had given us Kitville to display their loyalty."
"I see..."
"Good, the big jugs have a liking to you and your brothers except that one of course— Thim or Thum, whatever his name is." He glanced at one of his men to his left, who began to move.
*THUD!
A sack was placed on the table, one black and looking wet for some reason.
"We bring you a good deal, and this just something to show our sincerity of course." He pushed it towards Alden, as one of his men went to open it.
"Disloyalty isn’t tolerated among us, and these three were found spending your gold on holes— hah. Gotta cle—"
*SKUNK—CRACK!!
*ACK—ACK!!
It was fast yet, Trin found himself gaging on his own blood, with an arrowhead in his gut.
*SLAM!!
"YOU DARED TO KILL MY MEN!!! YOU’LL WISH YOU’D NEVER BEEN BORN!!!"
