Chapter 68: Getting In-3

"Please, Yannah. I know I don’t deserve an ounce of your forgiveness, but please forgive me. Please... please..." The room was filled with Zlatan’s sobs, crying his heart out as the tears never ceased to stop for even a second.

He was on his knees, his head pulsating and sending a sharp pain all over with each throb. To him, he deserved it more than anything and if he’d been sure it was her. Then bringing a blade along to take out his heartcore in return would have been a much better apology.

Yet the fact that she was dead, remained unchangeable. It was another chance to plead her forgiveness for what he’d done hundreds of years ago, and the worst thing was to fail.

’WHY!!!’ The words replayed in his mind, the tears overflowing as all reserved ones seemed to now be in use also.

"I’m–I’m... I’m a monster." He stuttered, staring at his hands, the tears forming a puddle around him, after soaking up his pyjamas.

"Yannah, I should have... I should have listened to you, it consumed me as you said. Why was I so stupid and naive?"

Suddenly, like an idea popping up in his head, he rose on his knees and got closer to the casket. Now able to see the pale and almost grayed-out body in it, his thoughts built up more on the newfound idea.

"I remember some runes, Yannah, it can save you. I know it can." Delusions had set in, and though he did know something similar, there was no way he could do it—anymore. "To start it, I– I will need...twel– twelve heart cores."

’Including mine.’ His eyes were wide open, numerous thoughts swarming up in his mind. ’No, no, I can’t kill someone again. No, I won’t. But Yannah, she’ll die."

"She’ll... her throat. It was slit?" Zlatan had finally noticed it, the thought of how she was even in such a lifeless state now coming to him. For he’d thought, she was in such a state because of him all this while, unknowingly.

"What happened? Who did it?" His hands gently rubbed the cut, checking out the area, as if it’d have the killer’s name written there.

"The Ferns." Zlatan froze as a voice came from behind him, one familiar but recent as the first time he’d heard it was a few days ago. Slowly turning back towards the door, his eyes met with another’s— obsidians to emeralds.

"Alicia?"

Before the door, a few meters away in black pyjamas with shoulder-length gray hair was, Alicia Mune.

"Hey there, Big Brother Zlaty!" She chimed, waving cheerfully at him as the next thing that came was—

"Ssshhsss! You’ll wake up the guard." He cautioned, yet it was too late since the damage had been done.

*BANG!

"Eh?" All heads turned towards the bare door, the view of the knight now on the ground clear.

"Huh?" The guard had woken up once again, his brain processing the situation as he looked around for a minute. Quickly getting up to his feet, droplets of liquid could be seen dripping down from his helm. Also noticing it, he knew just what it was and the next moment the guard was off.

Glancing at each other’s faces for a second, they both chuckled. Amused by the fact that the knight hadn’t seen them, despite having looked in their direction earlier. Yet, the amusement didn’t last long on Zlatan’s face, his swollen eyes visible to Alicia.

’Tears?’

"Do you know Karen?"

"Don’t call her that, it’s her mother’s name!" He snapped at her, meaning to clarify things though it did nothing of that sort.

*THUD!

*THUD!

The knight went past another path, one leading down to the lower floors not stopping in his tracks. Since he needed to hurry with cleaning up and resuming his post.

*ZZZZT!

"Aaahh— yess, I love this." On a sea of red roses, wearing a gown as red as the roses. Belle could be seen floating on it, with her back to it. She moved over it, swimming backwards on the surface, her gown unwet like herself. Although, splashes of roses and water could be seen as she swimed. Defining how the principles of the world she currently found herself in, were set to be.

"Mmm, tasty." Simply drawing out her hand from the water below, a drumstick was unbelievably being held. And without a second thought, she took a bite. Still moving backwards, savouring its taste on her buds when—

*BANG!

Belle’s head had rammed into something, a large metal tray suddenly appearing out of nowhere and behind her. Not having a moment to yelp as the reverberation from the tray, shook the world rendering it unstable when suddenly— her eyes flew open.

’Big Brother?’ Her first thought, as lying on a tray on the ground, after leaning forward too much and toppling didn’t bother her. "Where’s Big Brother?"

In the storage room, both of them stood at different sides of the casket. As Alicia had his eyes on the body, while Zlatan seemed to be in deep thought.

"So you’re saying, these Ferns are a Guild in Tilon?" He asked for the third time, Alicia unbothered by that as she replied with the same words.

"Yes, Big Brother."

’Tilon? That was the capital of the Auburn Empire. Has this world shrunk or what?’

"Which kingdom are we in?"

"The Crane Kingdom."

Zlatan’s eyes widened for a second. "I see, so you said Uncle Vans will be dealing with this guild in three days?"

"Mmhm." Alicia nodded, having rambled about all she knew while Zlatan listened to everything— a first for her if we considered the other gender since she was quite much of a talker.

"How is he going to do that, after he’d left this morning with him?"

"Um, Grandpa Lo-an. They should be busy preparing or something, maybe their already beating them up." Alicia stated, grinningly.

"Uncle doesn’t go back on his words, nothing can change that. Still, we can’t let him finish up these Ferns— not alone."

"You want to join in? They’re spiritualists you know, I don’t think saying you’re a noble would stop a punch." Zlatan glanced at her for a second, shaking his head before continuing.

"No matter what, we’ll have to find their Guildmaster and deal with him ourselves."

"Mmm, alone?"

"Haha, I’ve got more things to deal with a spiritualist of course. Aura is just for gathering it, but one could simply just use it without aura which would..."

’What’s he even talking about?’ Alicia stood there puzzled, the other now being the one rumbling about his plan.

"Huh?" Just then, she noticed something by the door or someone instead, causing her to turn.

"Big Brother? What are you doing here with this ghost?"

"Ghost! Why do you keep calling me that?!"
