Chapter 87: The three tribes

"The... the female goblins were used as pleasure toys, but unlike the humans that dealt with the goblins, they were used by my master," Gorin said before pausing.

Aric’s eyes flashed when he heard that. He stared at Gorin; he wanted to be sure he heard what he just heard. "What did you say?" he asked again.

"My master used them as toys, ruining them, raping them one after another. Humans lacked the physical strength to survive his entry of their bodies, and so he used goblins who had stronger bodies.

Day after day, hour after hour, he used them as toys, tossing them aside when they died. Their bodies were then used for research by the shamans.

It was a never-ending torture that I numbed myself to, hearing the screams of goblins calling for help as their bodies were ripped apart by force.

His hunger for pleasure was never-ending, it was like a bottomless well," Gorin said, his head hung low, a tear dropped from his eye, hit the ground—splat—

"When I discovered that was what he did with the female goblins, it hit me, the fact that he used my mother and sisters in that way hit me...

I forced myself to be numb to it, but every time I heard those screams, the memories I tried to bury were revived."

Aric clenched his fist and gritted his teeth, the sound of his teeth grinding inside the dungeon soundes, so much so that Gorin heard it.

"Gorin, answer me this, do you believe that your master should remain alive?" Aric asked, his tone like a calm river.

"There is no one to take him down," Gorin said.

"That was not the question, Gorin. The question was, do you believe that your master should remain?" Aric asked again.

"I don’t. He is a monster, a terror. A being like that should be killed," Gorin said. "But then again, I am a hypocrite, I have carried out my fair share of evil, who am I to pass judgment on someone else?" Gorin said.

"You are the one that lost your mother and sisters. Your grudge against him is personal, so you deserve to pass judgment, and you will," Aric said. He looked Gorin right in the eye as he spoke, not breaking the eye contact even once.

Gorin stayed silent for a while, then he spoke, "If there is a way, I will help. I’ll take the task of killing the terror as my penance. If I should go out, it should be with vengeance for those he took from me," Gorin said.

"Good, then I’ll need all the help I can get from you. We need to take down the terror as soon as possible. And despite the fact that I believe in my strength, we still need as much help as possible.

So tell me, is there anyone who hates the terror as well? Anyone you know we can gather help from?" Aric asked.

Gorin fell into thought for a moment, his eyes looking up at the ceiling, then after a while, he spoke.

"There are a few I recall, each with a good amount of hate for the terror.

At the other side of the mountain the cave is on is the tribe of the Silver-Horned Wolves. They are a very powerful wolf race.

My master has plans to take their tribe, and the wolves know about this. This has caused tension as they are constantly preparing to protect their home.

If you offer them a good way to defeat my master, I’m certain that they will come with you. They are a prideful race, and it might be hard to convince them, but as long as you show them that you have a concrete way to help them, they’ll agree to it.

The second tribe is the Ogre tribe. The Ogre tribe were the strongest tribe in this area of the forest before the terror came along. They are still very powerful, and that’s why my master has yet to attack them.

But there is still tension, and with a little nudge, a war can easily start. There’s also the fact that Ogres naturally hate Orcs," Gorin explained.

"I see, so those two are the ones we have to convince then?" Aric asked.

"There is still one tribe. They live a far distance off, but their race once had a battle with my master’s army and managed to defeat the army.

Their hate has been deep-rooted since then, and an opportunity to kill my master would be a dream come true for them. It’s a lizard man tribe," Gorin said.

"Hmm, so a wolf pack, an Ogre tribe, and lastly a lizard men tribe. We have to make all of them agree to help us fight your master.

I’m certain that if we can get all of them to our side, we will win against your master for certain. The difficult part will be getting them to agree," Aric said. He pinched the bridge of his nose as he began thinking of a way to make it work.

"I don’t think it will be too hard for you, after all, you possess a unique, innovative village that would pull everyone’s attention.

No tribe would want to pass up meeting someone like you and seeing your home. Most races only want to have a comfortable life, and from the look of it, you can offer it," Gorin explained.

"Hmm, you are smarter than you look, Gorin. Well, I’ll do that, but that’s a matter for later. For now, I want to ask you:

Gorin, will you help me grow this village, train the other goblins to fight, and also destroy your master? It doesn’t matter what you have done in the past, or what mistakes you have made, all that is dirt under the carpet.

If you decide to help me, then this can be your home—a home where you don’t have to live in fear. You’ll have your freedom. So are you in?"
