Chapter 79: Too much to do
Chapter 79: Too much to do
Aric got to his office, he prepared a stack of paper and a quill for himself. There were a lot of things he wanted to do, but he needed to write them down and hand them over to Ariel to get her input on what would be best.
"The first issue is the pipes and the water treatment," Aric said. He needed knowledge on how to get the filtration system working using mana stones. He wanted to see if the mana that they released could somehow eradicate the bacteria inside.
"System, is there a way mana crystals could eradicate bacteria in a controlled way that I can use?" he asked. He expected that the system would simply refer him to buy another book or something that he could use, but that was not the case this time.
[10 gold to purchase that information]
"Wait? I could have bought direct information all this time?" he asked, his expression shocked like a child that got a present he didn’t expect.
"Fine, take the gold."
[Mana crystals possess the purest form of mana. Mana in this state is very destructive to small bodies and organisms. The mana they emit becomes too much for them, and the organisms die.
In a controlled way would be to use a mana conductor instead of allowing the pure mana to reach the water.]
Aric’s eyes sped through the content. He felt intrigued even more by the project he was about to do; he couldn’t wait to start working on it. He placed his palms on the desk and pushed himself up. The chair swung back and forth but managed not to fall.
He left the desk and briskly walked to the door, the thumping sound of his feet sounding loudly against the wooden floors. But right as he was about to leave the office, Ariel walked in, her gaze locked with his.
Her eyes sharp as a blade, her lips curled down, arms folded. Aric took a step back, he chuckled nervously as he did. "Hey Ariel, I was just about to..."
"You were about to head out, I know. I’m guessing you have gotten somewhere with your water treatment plan and you were heading out to find the people you would be working with," Ariel said, her face shifting into one as calm and steady as a breeze.
Aric was a bit perplexed, as he thought that she would surely rip him a new one.
"Before you go on doing that, you should know that Elisa said it’s time for you to aid the plants’ growth. Ten goblins have headed out to hunt, and the classroom is about to be completed," she said.
[Congratulations on stepping into a new sector of development: 10,000 gold. 1000 Exp]
[First academic building complete: 20,000 gold]
Aric got some notifications which meant that the building was now complete. He had to hand it to the goblins, they were fast.
"Also, now that the building is complete, I would like the first class to start soon. So please, can I get the materials that I’ll be using? It would be better if Elisa and I prepared beforehand," Ariel said.
"Oh, that makes sense, give me a minute," Aric said. He walked back to his desk and then opened the system shop. He had already prepared the books; what was left was to pay for them. Both basic maths and language.
Both books cost him 3000 gold, which he found pretty large for books, but he didn’t have a choice. He bought both of them, and they appeared on the table. He also bought a stack of papers, quills, and inks.
"Ariel, please come," Aric called. She came closer and stood beside him.
"Alright, so these are what you’ll need. The papers are for the people you’ll be teaching for now. I’ll soon teach Ron how to make paper soon as well, I can’t keep handing it out," Aric said. He walked away from the table to allow her to see the items that she’d be using.
"I’ll get Ron to make a board for you," Aric said.
"A board? What for?" she asked.
"It is a surprise," Aric said and walked out of the office. Immediately he walked out, he headed downstairs and out of the house. The entire area was bustling with movements. Some goblins worked on furniture of different kinds, while the rest had just finished working on the class building.
Aric headed over to the farm to find Elisa. He spotted her watching over the goblins as they expanded the farm. Immediately she spotted him, she ran over to him. "Aric." Her face brightened up like the morning sun.
"Things seem really busy here," Aric said, his eyes scanning over the farm.
"Well, we decided to expand the farm," she said. "We will be needing more seed later," she said.
"That’s not an issue, just have Ariel make a list and hand it to me later," Aric said. He walked into the farm and started using his magic on it. He covered the entire farm in a few minutes, helping the plants grow twice what they currently were.
"I’ll be on my way now, Elisa. I have some more things to do," Aric said. Her lip curled down slightly when he said he couldn’t stay with her longer. With all the work that was happening around, she hadn’t gotten the opportunity to be with him longer.
She silently envied Ariel who got to be around him all the time. She wished that would be her. Aric was completely oblivious to what she was feeling. He walked away in a rush, wanting to get the board done and then move to the next thing—there was really a lot to do.
He got to the stream and discovered that a simple but sturdy wooden bridge was built across the water. Aric was certain that he didn’t ask for this, so this was someone’s innovative work.
It made Aric happy to see that they were all evolving and getting more innovative.
