Chapter 232: Chapter 18: Heat-inducing chocolates
[WARNING: Sexual Abuse]
Killian frowned while scrolling through his inbox. It’s been a week since his boss left, and he rarely called or replied to his messages. He was a bit hurt, but he knew how busy the guy was, so he didn’t pester him.
"He said it’s only for a week..." Killian mumbled to himself. He flinched when someone placed a box of chocolates on his desk so suddenly.
Looking up, he saw Ingrid’s ex-boyfriend, Charles, smiling down at him. That smile was the same he wore when he called Killian to talk before, so Killian put up his guard again.
Charles might have noticed it, so he put his hands up and stepped back. "I don’t mean harm, Killian. I misunderstood and accidentally injured you, so I wanted to apologize."
"But you already did..." Killian said, still suspicious at the kind gesture of the alpha.
Charles scratched the back of his head and looked away, looking ashamed. "That apology was half-hearted since I still think it was your fault that Ingrid and I broke up. But now I know that it’s impossible, so I’d like to repeat it, genuinely this time. Look, I brought you a chocolate. It’s actually from my sister’s souvenirs from abroad. I hope you’ll like it."
Killian hesitated, eyeing the box of chocolates with skepticism. Charles sighed, his demeanor softening as he leaned against the desk. "I’m really sorry, Killian."
Killian felt pressured by his gaze, so he ended up accepting the box and his apology. Charles beamed. "Thank you! Alright, I think I’ll be able to work properly now. I’ll go back to my desk."
The alpha left after that. Killian lifted the lid of the box and found sixteen small bars of chocolates inside. He put it aside and continued working.
Hours passed uneventfully just like that. Soon, one by one, people clocked out and waved goodbyes, but Killian just sat at his desk, staring blankly at the pile of paperwork before him.
"Killian, are you okay?" Ingrid asked from across the room, her brow furrowed with concern.
Killian forced a smile, the strain of the day evident in his eyes. "Yeah, just a little tired."
"Try to take it easy. You’ve been working yourself too hard lately," she said, shooting him a supportive smile before returning to her own work.
He knew his work was heavier than before. It was because what the deputy director should be doing was assigned to him, though most of them were minor, the amount was just too many.
Killian rubbed his temples, his eyes landed on the box of chocolates Charles had given him earlier. A part of him felt guilty for being suspicious. He was tempted to open one, but if he did, then the other would see and might ask.
Is it alright to share it with someone right in front of the giver? What if Charles thinks otherwise? He was too tired for office drama so he just stood and drank some cold water.
The hours dragged on.
Charles, who was typing away at his computer with an unsettling smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth, furtively glanced at Killian.
The clock finally struck five, and a wave of relief washed over the team.
Charles stood up, stretching his arms with a satisfied grin. "See you tomorrow, everyone!" he called out, his gaze lingering on Killian for a moment longer than necessary. He walked to him and patted his shoulder. "Killian, I’m heading out first."
"Yeah, goodbye," Killian nodded without tearing his gaze away from his monitor.
Once he was alone, Killian hesitated before picking up the box of chocolates. He had intended to throw them away, but curiosity won out. Maybe he was being too harsh. Maybe Charles had simply wanted to be nice. With a hesitant sigh, he picked up one of the small bars, unwrapped it, and took a cautious bite.
The sweet taste melted on his tongue, and his mood somehow uplifted after eating sweets. He took another bar and later finished his work.
It was already dark when he left the office. The streets were now covered with snow, and people all donned winter coats. As he stepped out of the building, the cold winter air hit him, sending a shiver down his spine, despite him wearing a tailored wool overcoat that fell just above his knees.
He buttoned the coat up to the collar and adjusted his scarf which was wrapped snugly around his neck. Suddenly, he felt a wave of heat inside his body, which made him confused.
"Am I overdressed? I feel hot..."
He hailed a cab and quickly got in. His head throbbed and his body was beginning to feel hotter. Is he coming with a fever?
"Sir, where to?" the driver asked, bringing Killian back to his senses.
"Ohh...haaa..." he mentioned his address. The driver glanced at him worriedly but didn’t say anything.
Not long after, Killian arrived at the apartment building. He sluggishly walked up the stairs, just as he reached the door of his unit, his phone rang, momentarily distracting him. It was the deputy director, his lover.
"Killian—
"Sir... help...haa..." Killian spoke with labored breaths.
Nathaniel, on the other line, asked in confusion and began to worry. "Killian? What do you—
"So, you really are an omega," a man’s voice came from behind Killian, sounding amazed and excited. "You had no scent, but when you’re in heat, I think I can smell something from you now. This is amazing. Did you like the chocolate I gave you, Killian?"
Slowly, Killian turned to face the guy. It was Charles. He lowered his phone and immediately pushed Charles away, then he fumbled with his keys in his pockets, but his body was yanked away from the door.
Before Killian could scream, Charles already gagged him with his scarf and locked his arm behind him. Using his other hand, he searched for Killian’s keys and opened the door, then he pushed Killian onto the floor. He then locked the door after that.
Due to being slammed on the floor, the phone that Killian held got thrown underneath the bed, still on call. However, Nathaniel’s voice wasn’t heard but he could hear what was happening to Killian’s side.
Panicking, Nathaniel pressed down on the accelerator and headed towards Killian’s unit. "Killian, I’m coming!"
Killian, on the other hand, crawled away from Charles. "Why...haa... why are you...doing this?" He needs to buy time.
Charles walked closer, his every step frightening Killian more. With each passing second, the heat intensified, and the primal need for an alpha grew unbearable. His eyes roamed around to find something to protect him.
But his gaze glued on Charles who crouched over him, an unsettling grin spreading across his face. "Why? I should be the one asking you that. Why did you do that?"
Killian froze. "What...are you...?"
"Don’t play dumb, Killian," Charles’ face darkened. "You did it deliberately. How did you calculate it well, so that you won’t get severely injured?"
Killian glared back. "I don’t know...what you’re talking about..."
Charles swept his hair back, clearly annoyed at Killian’s ignorance. "The fall! You must have heard of my promotion instead of you, so you planned everything! My chance to be promoted was gone because of your little tricks! Now, I understand why no matter how hard you worked; you couldn’t get promoted. It was because you’re an omega. But it’s not right to ruin my chance just because you couldn’t, Killian Arden!"
Charles went mad. He grabbed Killian by the collar and slapped his face. He wasn’t satisfied. He stripped Killian’s overcoat after taking off his scarf.
Killian tried to push him away, he flung his feet from behind Charles, but that movement only turned Charles more excited. The alpha flipped him over after taking off his overcoat and sat on top of him.
"G—get off!" Killian pushed his body up and tried to turn to the side, but Charles caught his arms and locked them behind him.
Charles laughed. "You said it was just a misunderstanding? F*ck, Killian, no. Ingrid knew you were an omega but still liked you! Just because you showed her a bit of compassion and kindness? That’s bullshit. I’ve been kind to her, both at work and in bed, but what the hell? Just because I mistakenly gave her that chocolate and caused her shock, I’m a deplorable guy already?!"
The alpha bent down, whispering to Killian’s ear, "What’s wrong with using these heat-inducing chocolates? It’s not like I used it to anyone; I just used it to her! Now, I’m using it on you. Hah! If that woman sees you like this, I wonder what face she will show. Despite your masculine appearance, you’re quite sexy when you’re like this."
He licked Killian’s exposed nape, ready to bite him. Killian’s eyes widened with fear and his entire body stiffened. If Charles bites him on that place, when he’s in heat, then—
Bam!
The door opened and, in a blink, Charles’s body slammed to the wall, his nose bled immediately from getting hit by the leg of the chair. Nathaniel didn’t stop with just that, he grabbed the bedside table and threw it on Charles.
The thing he grabbed next was the washing machine at the end of the kitchen counter and was about to throw it to Charles again when Steve’s voice rang out.
"Master, don’t! You might kill him!"
Killian’s mind was hazy but he still heard it. He wondered, ’Why is the chairman calling the director master?’
