Chapter 175: Sandro’s odd findings

Meanwhile, while Althea and Azrael were chatting by the door, Knox stirred from his sleep, blinking sleepily as he glanced around. He could hear their conversation; it was faint but comprehensible.

His entire face flushed after eavesdropping on the two alphas’ last exchanges of answers. His heart beat erratically, and he shuffled in his position awkwardly, gaining Knoa’s attention who was engrossed with his white stuffed toy.

"Papa...did I wake you?" Knoa asked carefully and quietly. He set aside his favorite toy and hugged his father, tapping his chest to make him sleep again. His little taps weren’t even felt underneath the thick blanket that covered Knox.

Knoa blinked and yawned.

Knox caressed the kid’s back and whispered, "Knoa, don’t sleep yet. We still need to eat dinner. What time is it anyway? Why are we here? Did your Daddy bring us here?"

The little kid answered, "Yep. Daddy carried Papa; Knoa carried by Aunt Thea."

"Hey there, sleepyhead," a voice light and playful interrupted their conversation. Knox and Knoa looked up at the approaching Azrael with their sleepy faces. Azrael paused for a moment, he pondered why everyone was saying Knoa was his carbon copy, when at that moment, the two faces, looked very much alike.

He chuckled. Sitting on the edge of the bed, he helped Knox sit up while he asked, "You were sleeping so deeply that you didn’t even feel the cold in the garden. Why are you lying on the ground when there’s a large couch enough to fit you?"

Knox laughed guiltily, scratching his head in that foolish act. Still, he explained casually, "When I saw the blanket, I just lay down for a minute, but I didn’t expect to fall asleep. I guess, the three didn’t want to wake me up or maybe they did, but I just didn’t wake up. Anyway, I feel refreshed! I must have been so tired."

He eyed Azrael, giving him a meaningful look. Azrael whistled and looked away.

Knox rolled his eyes at the man, as if looking away would make him innocent. He groaned softly as he stretched his arms with a satisfied yawn, and then he asked, "So, what happened? What else did you discuss with my father and Athan? And you seemed closer with Althea now, what happened?"

Azrael chuckled, brushing away the strands of hair obstructing the omega’s forehead. "Yes, we are. We’re making progress. She and I had a nice chat, albeit short and quite heavy, I made her like me a little bit. She’s a lot warmer and more accepting than I expected."

"Hm...maybe you won her over with that cheesy love confession of yours. Why don’t you try saying that to me directly?" Knox teased, nudging the guy on his side.

Azrael caught his elbow and pulled him closer, leaning his head on his chest and letting him hear the erratic beating of his heart. Then, Azrael whispered right next to his ear, his warm breath brushing his earlobe, "I’m madly, irrevocably, deeply, passionately, and dangerously in love with you, my dear Knox Arden."

Knox blushed, from his neck to the tip of his ears. He quickly turned his head away and faked a cough, before he answered, stammering due to excessive shyness and flustered, "T-that’s not exactly it..."

Azrael laughed, amused at his lover’s reaction. "Yeah, I added two more adverbs. I have plenty here, wanna hear it?" he pointed his chest and winked at Knox.

The latter raised an eyebrow, his lips twitching from suppressing a smile. "You’re getting cheesier, or is this a new side of you I haven’t found yet?"

Azrael grinned, leaning in closer, "You’ve already seen all my sides though? Even my darkest corners and hidden marks—mmph!" his mouth was immediately covered by Knox’s hands.

Knox widened his eyes at him, aghast at what he said. He puckered his lips at the kid watching them with curiosity.

Knoa, who had been quietly listening, suddenly showed interest and in a voice full of curiosity and enthusiasm, he asked innocently, "Papa, what does cheesier mean? I heard it in a commercial before but it was showing lots and lots of cheese over burgers! Does that mean Daddy’s becoming a burger now too?"

Azrael burst into a peal of laughter while Knox almost choked from suppressing them. He covered his lips, afraid that the kid might learn to keep questions to himself after their hilarious reaction.

Knoa looked unbothered though, he seemed happier seeing his parents laugh together, but he was really curious, so he asked his Papa again.

Knox answered, wiping down his lips from smiling too much, "Baby, it just means when someone says sweet things to someone, as sweet as cheese that when you bite too much, you’ll cringe. That’s all. Your Daddy just said cringy things to me, so I told him that. Maybe if he kept saying silly things, he’d finally turn to a cheeseburger?"

Azrael’s laughter doubled. If the door wasn’t knocked by a servant, the alpha would have choked on his laugh. Knox even noticed how easier for Azrael to laugh these days. Not that he wasn’t liking it, rather, he was beginning to look forward to more days full of laughter.

He hugged Knoa closer to him and rocked him playfully, while Azrael stood and went to the door.

Soon, the dinner was served on the table. Azrael explained what Althea told him, and Knox, even though gratefully, felt guilty that he avoided eating with the whole family.

After what happened, I’m sure father would prefer eating without us too. It’s already awkward when I’m present, so it’d be more tense if I bring Azrael with me. Eating together can wait...now that we were accepted,’ Knox pondered to himself.

He fed Knoa while Azrael fed him. After their little dinner, Knox washed the little guy and dressed him in pajamas. He searched for a bigger one, for Azrael to change into, but to his dismay, he didn’t find any.

Knox had no choice but to offer his clothes to Azrael, which were a little bit smaller to him. "It’s the only size I have here. Should I borrow you some clothes from Athan?"

"I bet your brother would lend you rags for me to wear, if you did," Azrael answered, chuckling. He took the clothes and added, "I’ll just wear this."

Azrael took the sweatpants and walked to the bathroom. He paused and looked back before he entered, "Wanna join me?"

Knox rolled his eyes. The last time they were in the bathroom together, they didn’t just bathe, so he quickly shook his head and went to bed. "I’m going to put Knoa to sleep," he said dismissively.

Not long after, the kid was snoring already. Azrael stepped out of the bathroom, drying his hair with the towel. At the same time, his phone rang. He quickly answered the phone, fearing that the sound might wake Knoa up.

"Dude...I forgot to tell you something before...are you free to talk?" Sandro’s urgent voice came from the other line.

Azrael’s face changed. He could hear the urgency and skepticism in his friend’s voice. He went to the balcony and answered, "Go ahead."

Sandor replied hurriedly, "The surveillance team in charge of your father found someone lingering in his estates. A man in his early twenties, begging to meet your father."

"Who? And why does he want to meet Rage?"

"I don’t know him, and they’re still investigating. I’ll send you the report," Sandro ended the call immediately, to Azrael’s surprise.

A minute later, received an email. He went back inside, walking to the bed as he scrolled through the document. However, he froze in his tracks upon recognizing the image attached on the last page.

The guy who wanted to meet his father – Ragel.
