Chapter 164: The drama queen visits

The background seemed like zooming out just from the speed Azrael displayed. But it was more likely because his eyes were only focused on the front, and the noises entering his ears were defeated by the loud thumping of his heart.

His steps were doubled the size of his normal ones, and when the lift didn’t cooperate with him, closing in just before he reached it, he did not hesitate to climb the stairs. Their unit was on the twentieth floor, and it was stupid enough to choose that way, but his head was no longer working properly.

His brain was clouded with fear that something bad might happen again to Knox.

How could he be so stupid?! He should have not left him alone! He trusted the security too much but didn’t consider that those people might imitate what he did – purchasing a unit under someone else’s name.

He reached the fourth floor and when he heard the ’ding’ sound of the elevator, he rushed on it, only to curse after seeing that it was going downward instead. At that moment, he wanted to smash his head on the metal wall.

He wasn’t thinking wisely. His actions were getting overwhelmed by his fear and nervousness. he punched the twentieth button on the panel board and sighed deeply multiple times, calming his raging nerves.

However, he couldn’t stay still at all.

His fingers were rigid and cold, and his forehead was breaking in cold sweat. He never prayed before, but he almost knelt on the floor and uttered a prayer, ’Please, don’t let him be harmed.’

Azrael kept repeating those words in his head until the lift opened again. As soon as his build could fit on the opening doors, he jumped out.

His face darkened at the sight of someone about to slap his boyfriend. He approached them in the instant and grabbed the woman’s hands, gripping it tightly it would probably break under his force.

"Argh!" a shrill, pained voice came from the woman. She turned to Azrael, eyes widening in surprise and fear, and her lips quivered tremendously. Soon after, she burst out crying and begging for her arm to let go.

Knox stood by the opened door, watching Azrael mercilessly break the lady’s arm. He snapped in his trance when Elise Chen’s agonizing cry echoed in the whole corridor.

Knox quickly rushed to Azrael and held his arm, pleading with his eyes, he anxiously muttered, "L-Let her go..."

However, Azrael seemed like he didn’t hear Knox. He just yanked the woman away from the door and threw her on the other side. Elise was thrown on the floor. She gasped and was horrified, immediately clutching her stomach and looking at Azrael with contempt and anger.

It was confusing that she was unbothered by the obvious bruise on her arm at all, but instead of her body which only slightly hit the floor. Knox wondered, his gaze landing on her covered stomach for a while.

Azrael was about to approach the woman again if Knox hadn’t blocked his way. He looked up and was a bit terrified at the alpha’s face. His pheromones were all over the place as well, and his expression was as dark as the darkest night, as scary as the monster in someone’s sleep paralysis, and as sinister as the devil raging in fury.

Azrael’s expression was nightmarish, and even Knox was slightly frightened. He slowly placed his palm above Azrael’s chest and was shocked to feel his heart beating so fast.

’What happened? Why does he look...so scared?’ Knox asked himself. He was so preoccupied by the events that he didn’t even notice his son wasn’t with Azrael.

"How could you do this, Azi?!"

A high-pitched voice stole Knox’s attention again. He turned to look at Elise who suddenly appeared at his door, knocking and pestering him to reveal Azrael, as if he was hiding him from her.

Knox was skeptical, so he didn’t open the door immediately.

Besides, the woman was knocking on his unit’s door, not on Azrael’s. If she was looking for the man, shouldn’t she be knocking on his door instead? And how did he even know that his unit was just next door?

It made Knox ponder, and he came to the conclusion that Elise probably didn’t know which one was Azrael’s actual unit. He only opened the door when the woman exclaimed that she had something important to tell him.

Although Knox was certain it was just something fabricated to drive a wedge between him and Azrael, he still couldn’t keep his hands from opening the door, because the lady kept pressing the doorbell a hundred times already.

"I gave you my everything! I turned into an omega because of you! Even if my body is suffering from the results now, I’m still willing to offer it to you! How could you throw me out like this? You used to call me to make love—kyah!"

Elise hugged her head with both of her hands when Azrael stepped forward. She crawled backward and hugged her knees, looking so pitiful and...distraught. She appeared like a mentally unstable person.

"Azrael...dear, calm down, please...you’re so strong. I can’t hold you for long, you know?" Knox muttered, trying to ease the tension by speaking jokingly.

Thankfully, his calm speech and gentle approach calmed down Azrael. His heavy breathing slowed and his glazed eyes shook and cleared. Knox didn’t know what happened, but he had an idea.

His heart was pricked by a needle, seeing his boyfriend act like that. He knew the feeling of getting stuck in the past and encountering a reliving moment that brings back painful and terrifying memories.

But what he couldn’t understand was why Azrael felt that way toward Elise.

Elise slowly stood and pointed at Knox. She shouted disdainfully, "You will never be happy with him! He was just using your body because he finds you interesting! Who knows how many children he has out there? You should check all his flings one by one! I can bet you’re not—

"It seems to me you no longer want that mouth of yours. Should I sew it for you? I have plenty of experience, sewing not only mouths shut, but their stomachs as well," Azrael’s furious voice was lowered, but danger and threat were lurking in it.

He stepped forward, gently shoving Knox away and hiding him in his back. Knox clutched the back of his shirt, afraid that he might do something again. Although he wanted to slap the woman as much as Azrael wanted, Elise didn’t succeed in harming him physically.

However, her words were like nails being hammered into his head, burying them one by one in his memories. He knew Azrael’s past relationships, or rather...how he behaved before they met. But it was his past that he decided to embrace, so it wasn’t hammered that hard in his mind.

What did, was her comment about having children out there.

Elise cowered in the towering figure of Azrael, giving her a devious look that chilled her to the bones. She sobbed and cried pathetically. She only wanted him to love her, after all the sacrifices she did. Why couldn’t he? She was his first omega!

"Why can’t you see me? I’m always next to you! When Diva was pushing you away, I’m the one who stood and comforted you. I’m always the one who was ready to come and embrace you, so why couldn’t you love me?!"

Elise went past Azrael and darted on Knox. Her face changed from tearing out of sadness to crying out of maximum anger, "I’m prettier than him! I’m sexier and more lovable! Why don’t you choose me, Azi?! I can give you children way more superior than his son! I’m dominant, and you are too. We’re supposed to—

Ding!

The lift opened, and it revealed Sandro carrying a crying Knoa in his arms. Knox was rattled. Only then did he remember about Knoa. Azrael’s face was shocked as well, telling Knox that he must have also forgot about him.

He gave Azrael an accusing look, before running to Knoa, entering their unit, and slamming the door on all of them.
