Chapter 137: An adorable family [2]
Knoa and Aresh shouted as they were placed down on the seat. It amazed Knox that they weren’t afraid at all when the boat rocked a little. Azrael even deliberately shook it, but the two boys just screamed in excitement.
Knox laughed with them as he hopped in. The guide even offered his hand to support him, however, he took it back hastily after Azrael came and snatched his hand. Aresh held out his hand to him as well, mimicking Azrael’s cool posture.
’It seemed that his admiration moved to Azrael now, huh...’ he amusingly thought as he rubbed the kid’s head and pretended like he badly needed his help indeed. He mumbled ’thank you’ to the adorable kid.
After securing his seat in between the two kids, Azrael started the engine, and they soon sped off. Knox hugged the two kids to stop them from going over the rails and peeking down the water since Azrael was steering the boat a bit too fast.
The gust of wind hit their faces, so the kids ended up burying their faces on Knox’s sides. Fixing their hair was useless, so he shouted, "Drive slowly!" Azrael turned to him, slowing the boat. Knox added, "The sun isn’t that hot anyway, and the kids like to ride the boat, let’s take our time."
Azrael obeyed. He slowed down and let the kids check the water. The part they were in was still deep, so he maneuvered the boat to the spot where the water was shallow as marked on the map of the island.
Knox shouted excitedly, "Wow! I can see plants underneath, Daddy!"
Aresh followed, "The water is so clear! I saw a turtle!"
"Why do you sound like you’ve never been in here? Also, haven’t you seen a turtle in your life?" Azrael asked Aresh. The kid simply shook his head. This made Azrael furrow his brows, thinking, ’He hasn’t?’ He threw Knox a questioning look, wondering if the orphanage doesn’t even bother to bring the children into trips, especially since the place was just a fifteen-minute drive from the institution.
Knox mouthed, "They have to leave him behind."
Azrael’s face darkened. The child was left out? He already noticed the kid wasn’t getting along with the other orphans, but even the adults didn’t like him? His thoughts were written on his dismayed countenance so that Knox could easily read them.
He began telling Azrael the reason. And soon, the alpha’s face even became more distorted. Azrael went silent until they reached the island. The boat docked next to the stilted boardwalk. Another guide came to them, wearing the same blue tee shirt the former guide wore.
"Follow me this way, sirs," the man said, gesturing the path leading to a row of stilt white houses connected on the curved boardwalk, spanning on the other side of the island where the white sand was clearly visible underneath the water.
Knox was in awe as they walked and passed a few overwater bungalows, but soon his awe faded when they kept walking. He asked impatiently, "How far is it?"
The guide answered politely, "The package you availed was the most expensive one, sir. It is the largest overwater bungalow at the end of the boardwalk, where the water is much clearer and the view overlooks the ziplines and forest trails on one side—
"I didn’t expect it to be this far," Azrael remarked, stopping in his tracks. He noticed Knox’s weary expression, so he pointed at the house right in front of them, "Just give us this one."
The guide smiled anxiously, "Uh, sir, that house is cheaper than the one you paid for. If you’d—
Azrael cut him off, "I don’t care. My husband’s tired already, so just open it quickly. I won’t ask for a refund."
Knox almost spit out something after hearing his claim. His face flushed, so he turned away and pretended like he was checking the bungalow.
The guide had no choice but to oblige, after hearing what the guest had to do to obtain his boss’ boat. Soon after, the three of them were sprawled on the white carpet over the wooden floor. Azrael opened the fridge, took some bottled water, and distributed them to the three.
"Papa, we’re not going to look around?" Knoa asked after he gulped the water Knox helped him drink.
Knox replied, "Of course, we will. Aren’t you guys tired though? You played in the orphanage this morning too."
Both kids shouted, "No!"
Azrael came over, "Get some rest for now. I still have to call and reserve a table for lunch. We’ll leave in thirty."
Knox asked, "Which restaurant? Won’t they be full already? I didn’t expect this place to be this beautiful and packed. How come it was never featured in the travel blog sites?"
Azrael responded, "It is. You’re just too busy to read them. And there won’t be a problem reserving a table, don’t worry. Get some rest. I have to ask someone to deliver us clothes as well..."
He mumbled the last words so Knox failed to comprehend it, and just shrugged his shoulders. He turned to the kids who were chatting about their experiences and said, "Kids, let’s move on the bed first."
Even though the two children looked exhilarated, they immediately fell asleep a few minutes after their backs hit the soft mattress.
Knox moved to the balcony and glanced over the entire place. The temperature was cooler, and even when the summer season was over, there were still a lot of people visiting. He was then struck by worry, ’What if someone recognized them? Will they get to spend the day without bumping into anyone they know?’
"What are you thinking?" A cool and lowered voice entered Knox’s ears. His waist was then hugged from behind, and his shoulder felt heavy when Azrael rested his head on it. He blew air on his cheeks, teasing him, and then he asked again, "What makes you worried now?"
"How can you tell?" Knox asked in wonder, giving Azrael an amazed look.
"Your face says it so. You can be pretty easy to read, Knox. Look at me." Using his hand, Azrael pinched the omega’s chin and forcefully turned his head on him. He bumped his forehead on his, and whispered, "I told you to rely on me more. Tell me what makes you sad, worried, happy, everything. Even when you feel like scratching your butt, don’t just stand and grind your cheeks together or start leaping, splitting, or squatting—oomph."
"Did you smoke some weeds? It’s bad for your health. Stop it," Knox pinched Azrael’s lips by grabbing them together and pulling them. His eyes curved into genuine happiness, adding a more harmonious look to his melodious laughter. "You always ruin the moment, really!"
Azrael grinned, "What I’m trying to say is that even if you scratched your balls unattractively, I’ll still find you pretty, so don’t hide everything from me."
Another heap of laughter erupted from Knox. He wiped his eyes tearing from laughing too much. Indeed, he brazenly admitted it to his sister, but had he ever mentioned it to Azrael already? Both of them weren’t used to speaking their affection openly, and there was no need for them to be spoken, as Azrael’s actions were already assuring him. Still, Knox desired to hear it from him.
How about him? Does he make Azrael reassured and confident? Knox was then reminded of the past events. He then thought melancholy, ’Ah, maybe I’m lacking in that part. He always shows how special I am, despite his obsessiveness and rough actions, I feel wanted and worshipped. But I always...worry and put him behind. Have I been taking him for granted?’
His heart felt heavy. His thoughts were drowned by the waves of minty, hot breaths hitting his earlobe.
Azrael buried his face on his neck, and Knox could feel the alpha’s lips shaping into a smile against his skin. He flinched, tickled by the soft kisses. When the alpha’s kisses traveled down and bit his collarbones, he suppressed a moan and had to push him away to give him a warning look.
"We came here to show the beach to Knoa...ngh, Azrael!" Knox grabbed the guy’s hand sliding inside his pants and squeezing his butt. Azrael just chuckled. He moved his hands up and turned Knox to face him, then he gently kissed him on the lips.
"Let me get my kiss for today, at least. That damn alpha interrupted us before I could claim these sexy lips," Azrael whispered, cursing Ragel in his head. He dived down and nibbled on those pinkish and moist lips before allowing himself to explore inside.
Knox very well knew what could happen next if he let Azrael deepen the kiss more. He slapped his chest to stop him. Thankfully, Azrael halted and pulled away. He pouted, upset and dissatisfied.
Knox immediately brought up the topic again, "I’m just worried that someone might recognize us. That’s all."
"Oh, that..." Azrael paused. He almost blurted out that Roy and his team followed them. He asked the old man to scout the area and bribed anyone they found familiar to leave the island immediately. As he was certain that Knox would start worrying over that matter again.
Knox tilted his head, waiting for Azrael to continue. Azrael faked a smile and pushed him inside as he replied, "I actually bought some clothes we can wear for disguise. Let’s check them now."
The disguise Azrael referred to was no more than summer clothes for them and the kids. Light-colored shorts, printed polo shirts, and four dark sunglasses. Knox picked up the small sunglasses and pictured Knox and Aresh wearing them, excitement rushed through him.
