Chapter 118: Unwanted dream and visitor

A scream bellowed from the distance.

Azrael jolted awake after hearing that agonizing sound. He found himself standing in the middle of the road, and a car was parked before him. The beam of the headlights blinded his vision momentarily.

He rubbed his eyes as they adjusted at the glares, and when they were clear enough to see, he saw a figure sitting on the passenger’s seat of the car.

Knox’s face was seen beyond the windshield, looking at Azrael with a terrified face. He screamed and shouted, "Get away from me! You’re scary!"

Azrael, pained from that outburst, shook his head incessantly.

He denied what he saw. He lifted his hand to reach Knox, but his movement halted after finding his hands covered in blood.

Suddenly, the lights decreased, and there, appeared a dead body before him, sprawled on the hood, with its hollow head staring back at him.

Azrael was rooted in his spot.

He felt something cold touch his hands, and when he dropped his gaze on them, he saw a long metal post dripping with that red liquid. He was petrified. He looked up again at Knox, but then, the omega cried and cried until blood poured out his eyes.

Next to Knox was another omega whose face he had already forgotten, looking at him with pity and pained expression. Why did that person appear beside Knox?

Azrael paled. He quickly dashed to open the door on Knox’s side to pull him out, too afraid that the person next to him would take him away somewhere he couldn’t find.

He shouted nervously, "No, Knox, get out of there! Get—

Slap!

Azrael sprung up abruptly. His breathing was ragged, and his forehead was sweaty. There was a stinging pain on his cheek. He touched it and felt that it was a bit swollen.

He noticed the pair of shoes next to the bed when he slightly turned his head to the side. He slowly traced it upward and was greeted with Rian’s face.

Looking away to hide his guilty face, Rian coughed and spoke, "Hey, Azi, are you okay? You’re having nightmares."

’Nightmares...Knox and that person...is he telling me Knox will disappear as well, like that he did?’ Azrael asked himself in a daze.

Rian clapped his hand loudly to wake his friend up from his stupor.

"What are you doing here?" Azrael asked, surprised at his hoarse voice. The hand on his cheek moved on his throat.

Rian replied as he walked to the windows and gathered the curtains on the corner side, "Kayden is on duty. He asked me to come here. Man, you’re a mess. I heard you’re in a rut. But your pheromones seemed stable now."

Rian moved to the bedside table, poured water into a glass, and handed it to Azrael. "By the way, I heard what happened from Kayden. Diva was furious, but she said she wanted to speak to you about it and about the legal measures you’ll take. She was stressed. Elise Chen was one of Idol Entertainment’s highest-paid artists. I think she wanted to talk about that."

Azrael frowned, "I don’t care."

So, what if she was the highest earner in that company? She will pay for what she did. Azrael gulped the water as he thought about those things.

Rian, "I knew you’d say that. But Diva will receive the short end of the stick here. She was already in so much distress after your father forced her to walk down the aisle. Anyway, I shouldn’t interfere with your business. Go downstairs. I prepared some meals. Let’s eat."

He headed to the door, but when Azrael showed no sign of getting up, he spun and faced his friend again.

Rian shook at the man’s state. Azrael was like a guy who got scammed millions, one with dull and sunken eyes, a stubbled face, and hair as messy and tangled as a bird’s nest.

Rian sighed and spoke again, "Haa...look, Azi, are you just going to mope in your room all day? If you can’t live without him, then shouldn’t you be doing everything to get him back? You used to shoot anyone out of your way just to get what you wanted. Now, where is that Azrael?"

The depressed guy answered, "...that Azrael scared him away..."

Rian fell quiet for a second. He clicked his tongue and responded, "Well...you can be extreme sometimes, you know. But if he’s scared, then show him what made you this way, show him you’re not scary and that you just learned how to protect yourself. But I guess that would mean telling him all your family’s secrets. Anyway, let’s eat. Don’t look too pitiful. Gosh, it doesn’t suit you."

The other alpha shrugged his shoulders and walked out.

Azrael stared at the wall for a few minutes first, before deciding to get up. He saw his ungroomed self in the mirror. Then, Rian’s voice echoed in his head again.

Only then did he realize that Knox probably didn’t know most things about him, while he knew everything about him. Azrael washed his face aggressively. Maybe Knox felt like he was hiding too much from him, so his feelings were so shallow he’d left him after a single conflict.

As Azrael walked down the stairs, he heard a familiar voice. Whipping his head in the direction of that person, his eyes blazed in anger.

"Who gave you permission to enter?" Azrael spat with fury.

He stopped in the middle of the stairs and looked down at his father who was casually sitting on the sofa while talking with Rian. The latter shook his head frantically after Azrael gave him an accusing look.

Rage scowled at his son, "Don’t speak like that to me, you ungrateful bastard. Without me and my money, you’re nothing. Give due respect to your elder!"

Azrael pointed at the door and commanded, "Get out."

Rage stared at Azrael sharply.

Rian gulped and suddenly wished to leave the room.

It was like there was a murderous spark between the two; both were refusing to look away and give up. Rian quickly stood and excused himself, afraid to get caught up in between raging bulls.

Thankfully, Rage didn’t pay attention to him, so Rian just decided to stay in the kitchen, listening sneakily and watching if ever a fight broke.

Rage sighed dejectedly. He couldn’t believe his son whom he painstakingly raised all by himself was now disrespecting him without conscience.

He rubbed the center of his eyebrows as though he was straightening them. Then, he stated, "I came here to visit you, and that’s how you’re treating me?"

Azrael continued down the stairs, his eyes never leaving his father. "That’s for your sake. I’m not sure when will my patience snap and attack you. So, leave while I’m still respecting you as my father."
