Bride To His Darkness
Chapter 93: Guess The Answer

Chapter 93: Guess The Answer

Ivan returned his focus to the record he was looking at, refusing to play into the hands of who knows what his little lamb might be planning by bringing such to his chamber.

"No? But it is essential for you to read it." Samantha, who was unwilling to take no for an answer, continued with her persistence. "I’m not asking you to read it now, you can read it in your free time when there’ll be no disturbances, but you have to read it."

"I have no free time to engage in such types of...petty pleasures, little lamb." Ivan’s blue eyes shifted to the woman’s brilliant green eyes, and he said conclusively. "I’m not reading it, take it away." He dismissed her with no room for arguments.

Twisting her lips in slight displeasure, Samantha took the books and instead, made her way to his drawer and kept the books inside. Ivan’s gaze followed the stubborn woman who wasn’t listening to the things he was saying, and he took off his glasses. Those mesmerizing blue eyes turned crimson in a friction of seconds, and maybe his human form wasn’t making her heed to orders, cause when she turned around after keeping the books in his drawer, her heart nearly jumped out of her chest at the sight of Ivan’s crimson eyes glaring at her.

"Do I need to punish you?"

"I was putting it away."

"In my drawer."

"You didn’t specify." Samantha defended herself, and before Ivan could take the opportunity to find an excuse in punishing her, Samantha was quick to say, "I ran into Prince Tobias and Alistair on the way here, at first I assumed they were here for my neck but I was surprised at what I heard, did you really turn your cousins to my bodyguards? I mean, why would you do that to your elder cousins? You sounded resolute when you demanded I stay away from them but now, they’ll have to be around me."

"Are you happy?"

"I am uncomfortable, My Lord." Samantha returned to the floor beside Ivan’s bed, her hands resting on the surface, and there was a quiet plea in her eyes. "I don’t think I can do this, why not pick someone else? There must be a hundred princesses waiting in a queue just to be your bride and wife. You’re a handsome man, strong, smart, and you’re going to be the ruler of EmptyHollow, so why drag a maid like me into this? I want you to reconsider your judgment." She pleaded with her arms in front of her in a prayer gesture.

Ivan simply blinked at her request, and he wasn’t going to deny the fact his pride was getting hurt at her refusal to be his bride, not even a real bride but a fake one. Closing the records and putting it away, Ivan turned his attention to his little lamb who was waiting for his answer with a glint of hope in her eyes.

"You think I’m smart?" He asked again like he wanted a second confirmation, and Samantha didn’t hesitate to nod.

"You think I’m strong, and fit to be a ruler?" He asked again with narrowed eyes, as if testing her commentaries, and when Samantha nodded again, he asked. "You think I’m so handsome that a lot of princesses would line up in a queue just to be with me?"

"Yes!"

"Then why don’t you consider putting yourself in that list of queues - cause this handsomeness, fitness, and every other excuse you’ve listed, you’re the one who’s going to have to deal with it. You already accepted, and there’s no escaping it." He reminded Samantha whose last ray of hope had been extinguished. She noticed the slight annoyance that flickered in his crimson eyes, and in the blink of an eye, she found herself resting on the surface of Ivan’s bed with the vampire Lord hovering above her, whilst she nervously gulped when her anxious green eyes met his feisty red ones.

She knew his intention, and her hand immediately rested on his chest, feeling the soft fabric of his night garment against her palm as she made an attempt to push him off, but he caught her wrist and pinned them to both sides of her head. "I’m thirsty, Little Lamb."

"Are you not concerned about what is going to happen tomorrow?" She asked to sway in her own endeavors to divert his attention elsewhere, unsure of why she had suddenly gone breathless. "The royal court will question my background, where I come from, my village, everything, there’s a chance I can be exposed and what will happen to me? -ah!"

A short cry left her lips when Ivan’s elongated nails tore a thin line at the nape of her neck, and her blood sipped out.

"They won’t ask you, and you won’t have to be there." Ivan corrected, his hungry eyes following the sight of her tempting scarlet blood as it ran down her pale neck in an enticing manner. "They’ll ask me, I’ll be the one to face all the questions, and when they ask who you are to me..." Ivan’s hand that secured her two hands at both sides of the bed, no longer did so as he now used only one hand to keep her two dainty wrists above her head, whilst the other moved down to hold her by her waist.

"What do you think I’ll say?" He teased, sensually lowering his head to lick off the blood that trailed down to her neck. A quivering gasp left her lips when she felt his warm tongue against her skin, and for some reason, the temperature in the room seemed to have dropped drastically from his little display, and his warm breath tickled her nape when he asked.

"Can’t answer?"

"Your bride."

"Get it wrong two times and I’ll be digging my fangs into your flesh." He pulled back to meet her eyes, and there was this exact change in his irises again, and then the way his pupils turned darker than obsidian, was he really that thirsty for her blood?

"Your... your little lamb?" She guessed again, and her eyes snapped wide in alarm when his fangs elongated, indicating her wrong answer, and she nervously gulped cause she had only one chance left in order to escape from his solid entrapment.

"Giving up already? Should I take a bite out of you, hmm little lamb?" He lowered his head yet again, the touch of his cool lips grazing on her skin sent an electrifying shudder running down her spine, and Samantha closed her eyes to think since maneuvering her way out of this was already a no-go idea. "

"Uhm... uhm... your...I am yours." Samantha suddenly uttered without even considering what she had said, and when her eyes snapped open to meet Ivan’s crimson eyes that now glinted out of pure amusement, she knew she had guessed right. "You– you are going to tell them that I am yours." She repeated, already out of breath without knowing the cause of it.

Ivan stared at her for some unblinking seconds without uttering a sentence, and then his lips curled subtly, almost dangerously as he whispered, "Wrong." He dug his fangs into her skin, eliciting a gasp from the woman who hadn’t gotten used to the sharp sting that always came from his fangs digging into her tender skin.

Samantha felt his hold around her waist tighten possessively as he continued to suck on her blood, and she could feel his hair tickle her nape while he continued to relish on the taste of her blood like it had become one of his favorite drinks, thus, leaving her trapped in his mercy.

There was always a strange feeling that came with his bite, a foreign one. Was it the way his body warmed up to hers whenever he pierced his fangs in, or was it the way his lips continued to suck till it ignited a fire she never knew had died out inside of her? This was the feeling she always experienced whenever he bit her, and whenever she was starting to think like this, her eyes would spin and she would become dizzy. Her heart drummed erratically, and only then the vampire Lord pull back like he could sense it.

Samantha watched the way his pink tongue seductively licked the corner of his lips where her blood still lingered, as if he couldn’t risk letting any drop of her blood go to waste, and she shivered impulsively, unaware of why her body was reacting to such a provocative gesture.

He does this but won’t read a simple book?

"You’ve gotten what you wanted," Samantha uttered, still breathless from his actions. "You can tell me what the answer is since I got everything wrong."

"Did I say something like that?" Ivan quirked a brow at her, as if he had forgotten his own judgment. "My apologies, your three wrongs were indeed right." He revealed before pulling away from her, freeing her from his bondage, and Samantha had completely forgotten about her dizziness as she sat up right away to look at him in disbelief.

"You liar!" She accused, her hand flying to her neck in the spot where he had bit her, and she knew his apologies were empty cause who apologizes with a wicked smirk on their faces?

"I feel so automatically renewed, and it only ever happens when I take your blood. How strange." She heard Ivan comment cryptically as he moved to his chaise lounge to take a seat, his crimson eyes now fixed on the woman who had stood up from his bed. "Little Lamb, I have a question to ask you, can you come here? I don’t bite twice." His sultry voice lured the young woman to his den, but he did nothing as promised and only showed her the parchment containing the drawing of the hunter.

"Do you find this picture familiar?" He asked, "the hunters that took you in, does the person in the picture share any resemblance with them, I need you to think for me."

Samantha’s eyes moved to the parchment in her hand, and her gaze studied the young man who had no mask covering his face on the parchment. Astutely, Samantha used her hand to cover the person’s lower face, leaving only his eyes visible to her gaze, and after some seconds, her pupils dilated and her eyes shook at who it resembled.
