Bride To His Darkness
Chapter 30: Strange Hostile Dominant Little Lamb

Chapter 30: Strange Hostile Dominant Little Lamb

"Would you look at that?" Samantha was immediately jolted back to the present when she heard Ivan speak with mirth, his attention returning to her outfit before withdrawing back to meet her shock-filled eyes. "Did you plan to use yourself as bait?

"I beg your pardon?"

"Using my cloak as camouflage will only attract trouble, little lamb, not dispel it." His Midnight gloved fingers gently brushed against the hoodie, making it fall back and revealing her golden-blonde hair that was tied in a disheveled bun. The smooth curly strands dropped at both sides of her small round-shaped face, the ones at the back rested on her shoulder, and Ivan subconsciously pursed his lips at the alluring sight.

Samantha, who noticed the slight annoyance in his eyes, failed to comprehend the reason why his mood turned sour in a fraction of second. Feeling unhinged by his looks, she turned her head in the direction of the tree where the strange man was presently trapped, and she asked. "Who... who is that....that man?"

She was yet to recover from the shock Ivan had put her through, and everything about that man looked human, save for the yellowish serpent eyes that reminded her of a vicious snake, and she would have been harmed if Ivan didn’t move her out of the way on time.

What is happening here??

"I already told you." Ivan responded with a straight face, his tone laced with malice. "I meant it when I said I dislike people touching my belongings without consent, and that ugly thing was about to lay its filthy hands on you, so I...." A cynical smile curved his stiff lips, a dangerous light twinkling in his eyes "....made sure he won’t be able to use that hand ever again."

Ivan’s gaze shifted to the man who was struggling to pull the knife out of his bleeding wrist, and when he hissed out at the two of them, his tongue was the exact replica of a snake. Samantha’s whole body screamed for her to bolt out of here, but she remained where she was while her mind ran wild with panic.

"Looks like you’ll be needing some assistance, let me help you with that." Ivan approached the snake man with a cunning smile, his gaze shifting to the knife that pinned the man’s bloody wrist to the tree. With his gloved fingers already curled against the hilt, Ivan mercilessly pushed the blade deeper, so much that it pierced through the man’s bone, and Ivan’s pupils danced with satisfaction when the man screamed out in agony.

Samantha was forced to look away from the horrendous sight, covering her poor ears with her palm.

"Ahhhh... you wanted to pull it out? You should learn to use words and not hiss, for I do not speak snake language." Ivan, who spoke innocently, shook his head as if he wasn’t the one to blame. With a dangerous glint in his eyes, he pulled the Knife out with one quick pull, and the man stumbled forward, clutching against his bleeding wrist and falling to the ground.

Samantha hastily hid behind Ivan’s white horse, watching the scene with wide eyes.

"Your kind.." the Vampire Lord suddenly mused, staring at the blood that coated the blade with intrigue, "your kind are powerless, but your blood are hundred percent made of poison, that is most certainly a dangerous gift you have. But did you really think I would be fooled into tasting it?" He tossed the blade away with unhidden boredom.

"Unfortunately for you, I’m quite picky when it comes to the blood I drink." When his gaze darkened, the man on the ground tried to back away, and that’s when his serpent eyes fell on Samantha who was hiding behind the horse.

Grabbing the man by the back of his shirt, Ivan effortlessly pulled him to his feet, and that’s when he heard him say. "I..." the man strangely hissed out, "I... want to touch her." He pointed a finger straight at Samantha who tensed up from where she hid herself.

The man’s serpent eyes were still freakishly locked on the golden-blonde-haired lady who could feel her heart skip a thousand beats in fear. She shook her head wildly at Ivan, silently pleading for him to refuse, but when the shock on his face was replaced with a fiendish smile, Samantha immediately knew she was done for - she could feel her face go pale in silent trepidation.

"Since you asked, how can I refuse your last request?" Came Ivan’s wicked response, one that made Samantha regret not taking to her heels when she had the chance.

And then he released the man who wasted no time charging straight at Samantha who quickly turned and darted into the woods. Ivan remained where he was, watching her figure disappear from his sight as the man went after her. His boredom had been replaced with pure amusement, and the next thing he did was to bring out a long thin iron chain from the bag that hung around his horse.

Samantha, who screamed for help as she ran into the woods, looked behind her to see the man was hot on her heels. She wasn’t able to get too far when her injured knee buckled in pain, and she fell to the ground. She clutched to her knee that hurt a thousand more than it first did, but before her attacker could get his grasp on her, a chain came out of nowhere, wrapping both his legs and sending him face first to the surface of the earth.

Looking up with teary eyes, Samantha noticed Ivan effortlessly pulling the chains and dragging the man away from where she laid. He was no longer smiling, and when he pulled the man to where he stood, he tied the man’s hands down to his feet, then he tied the other end of the chain to his horse, leaving the man to struggle by himself.

"Playtime’s over, I shall give you a free ride to my Palace, I’m being generous to make you experience one last ride before you die. You’re welcome." When he was done putting the mole in his place, he looked at Samantha who’s teary doe eyes were staring back at him, her surprise and awe still evident.

He approached where she sat, crouching to her level. The tone of his voice turned soft as he said. "You’re coming with me too, or do you wish to be tied up like him? It’s going to be a rough ride, little lamb, so make your choice."

Samantha’s fingers tightly gripped the edges of her dress as she forced her limbs to make her stand, and she bit her lower lip, unable to hide her anxiety. She didn’t want to go back there, there are too many scary things and scary people in that Palace, but if she doesn’t go with him... no no! She doesn’t want to be tied and dragged.

"Little lamb." Hearing him call her by that nickname, her gaze instantly met him as he stood tall in front of her, and that sadistic smile on his lips returned.

"You must be wondering why I did what I did, but it was for your own good."

"You wanted it to kill me!"

"I wanted you to realize the danger you’d have to put up with if you decide to leave without the guidance of your Master." He simply stated, "I don’t do heroes, little lamb, I’m no one’s savior, nor am I a perfect prince charming from those nonsense story books filled with lies. I am Ivan, a Vampire Lord, and this is how I make people learn."

"You..." Samantha, who was still shocked that her body trembled, wanted to punch and hit him with anything. She wanted to punch him because her words failed her, and he was right. She was the crazy one for thinking Lord Ivan would save her, but in the end, he still did, regardless of the point he tried to prove.

"So." His voice rang out, "are you coming with me, or do you wish to stay here and be devoured by more of his kind?" After laying down the possibilities of her having zero chances of surviving out here, Samantha wasn’t willing to drop her pride completely as she tilted her chin up.

"I.... I have a few demands of mine if you wish for me to come." Samantha finally found the courage to speak up, but the Vampire Lord clicked his tongue in displeasure and took a step closer to her, taking off his bloody gloves and throwing it away.

"I already gave you one request, and I’ve added a second promise." To Samantha’s greatest shock of the night, he crouched on one knee and suddenly lifted her left leg, placing it on his knee.

She nearly fell back if she hadn’t placed both her hands on his shoulder for support. "Hey! What are you---"

Without asking, he lifted the hem of her dress, exposing her smooth lovely toned leg to his gaze, and Samantha wanted to yank her leg back, but he grabbed it with his beautiful long fingers, keeping her steady.

"Do it and I promise, you will fall. Stay put." He warned. His bare fingers grabbing her exposed leg felt cold, but there was a strange spark in his eyes that ignited her from within. She wanted to call him a perverted Lord, but there was nothing sinful about his gaze except for the seriousness in his eyes when he focused on her bleeding knee.

He knew she was hurt?

Samantha bit on the skin in her cheek, and she reluctantly remained still. He brought out his handkerchief from his pocket, tying it to her injured knee to stop the bleeding. When he tied it a little tight, Samantha hissed out, and when he smiled, she knew he did it on purpose.

"You are more fragile than you think, little lamb." She heard him say the minute he was done.

"You mean like a flower?"

"Like a bomb." He corrected before letting her drop her leg, and he rose to his full height, making him look down at her with interest. " You are a strange hostile dominant little lamb."

"And what are you? The angel of Death?"

"Sometimes. Not today."

He turned away from her and looked at his horse, "if you can climb over a wall, climbing a horse shouldn’t be a problem, isn’t that right, little lamb?"

Without answering, Samantha moved forward to get on his horse, but she suddenly felt Ivan’s arm wrapping around her thighs close to her bottom as he lifted her from the ground. Her cheeks burned due to his unforseen act, and she glared sharply.

"I didn’t ask for your help."

"I know, but I don’t like people wasting my time. Get on the horse, or I might take it that you enjoy the comfort of being in my arms."

Samantha didn’t hold back a scoff, but thanks to Ivan, she was able to get on the horse without applying too much pressure to her knee. Ivan sat behind her, holding onto the reins, and Samantha felt so small being in front of him.

The horse galloped into the night, dragging along with it the man Ivan had chained.

Ivan didn’t stop until he had brought Samantha back to the Palace. At that time, everyone was still waiting for him to return, and when he finally did with the sound of the gate opening, a look of relief washed over their faces when he didn’t return with anyone’s head, but he returned with two strange people.
