Bride To His Darkness
Chapter 264: My Only Soulmate

Chapter 264: My Only Soulmate

Carmela had never witnessed a sight so gruesome in her life, yet her heart was numb to the pleas of the boy. She didn’t feel pity for the child that was killed in front of her, as she believed she was doing what was absolutely right for her and her people. In matters like this, sacrifices have to be made, and she has chosen to sell her last bit of sanity to the devil.

Reminding herself of these words to avoid accepting the feeling that ate at her conscience, the doors to her heart closed. The lifeless body of the boy had been taken away from her sight, and soon, her grotesque minions approached her with the goblet in its hand. The boy’s blood was heavily mixed with the concoction in her goblet, and when her minion politely stretched it forth for her to take, she received it.

The smell she perceived was a blend of horrible metallic blood and other woeful related smell she could hardly discern. Mustering her courage, she placed the goblet to her mouth and drank the content. When she emptied it, she handed the goblet back to her minion, her expression laced with what was to come next.

Ultimately, an uncomfortable, growing sensation began to unveil. Her chest burned from the effect of the concoction, as if doused with acid.

A shuddering gasp escaped Carmela’s lips as she staggered forward from the pain, her hand holding onto the edge of the table for support. Her other hand rested on her chest where it burned, her breathing labored. Although she had prepared herself for this, she never expected the effect of the concoction to be this arduous.

She was still struggling to maintain her regular breathing when the burns finally stopped. Still holding on to the table with her head dipped low, she snapped her other fingers at her grotesque minions.

"Light a candle for me." She ordered her minion who was quick to heed to her command. It returned a few minutes later with a lit-up candle, and when it held it in front of Carmela, she dared to run her fingers through the fire, but rather than getting burnt by the flames, she felt nothing at all!

For some unblinking seconds, Carmela did not react, but when she realized that the fire, which had been her enemy after vampires, no longer burned her, her hazel eyes were round with bewilderment. She gazed at her hand which remained flawless, despite having placed them on the flames– it felt like a gentle breeze was sweeping through her fingers, not fire.

"It worked." She said almost breathlessly, as if she couldn’t believe that her hard work had finally paid off. She got the mixture correctly!

Soon after, another figure made his presence known in her ritual chamber, whilst her shoulders eased to see it was Marius. Apart from the two of them, and her grotesque minions, no one else knows about this ritual chamber that had been buried in her fortress. This place was one of her deep, darkest secrets, and she can never allow her people to know what she does in here.

"I see you’ve been practicing a lot more dark magic." Commented Marius as he came to stand beside the woman. She placed her palm on the burning fire, quenching it, to his evident surprise.

"It worked?"

"The concoction was perfect, but considering the boy’s low attribute, I’m afraid the effect of the concoction will last for a few days, and I do not need temporary hindrances." She said, sounding quite disappointed at the limitation, "I need that little boy. His energy is pure, unlike any I’ve perceived. His blood has a higher chance of sustaining my powers till eternity, and I will do everything I possibly can in my powers to get him."

"How do you plan on fulfilling that?"

"More of these temporary hindrances shall be made," a cruel smile touched her lips, and she turned to look at Marius who had been studying her.

"By the way, when are we going to get our hands on the Orb lady? She is the key to our plans, isn’t she?"

—--

The next day in the Chevalier Palace, Samantha’s eyes fluttered open to see the morning light seeping in through the black curtains. With a subconscious smile reaching her lips, she tried to stretch, but soon stopped at the realization that she was held down by strong arms wrapped around her body.

Ivan had spooned her against him, hugging her dearly from under the sheets. His face was nestled against her neck, whilst it tingled when his cool breathing came in contact with her sensitive skin. Her back was pressed against his hard chest, and her heart picked up speed at the second realization, and that was the fact that they were both still naked beneath the sheets covering them.

She tried to move, but his arms around her didn’t give her a choice.

"Ivan?"

"Yes? Little Lamb?" His voice had forced her eyes to snap wide in surprise. Was he awake the whole time?

"Did you sleep at all?" She asked, trying to turn her body so she could face him, but he didn’t give her that opportunity. From the way he held her, it was rather obvious that he has no intention of leaving her side anytime soon. Smiling against her skin, his hand reached forward to cover her dainty ones, their fingers interlacing on the bed.

"I didn’t feel like it." He answered, "who needs sleep when I can watch you do that all night? You look heavenly." He dropped a lingering kiss on her shoulder, "and taste heavenly too."

Knowing what he wanted, Samantha tried to wriggle free from his hold, her face flustered. He let her do as she pleased, but when she pushed herself up into a sitting position, she cringed in pain, as she had not expect her most sensitive area to react at her movement. It felt sore, and looking at the man who was smiling guiltily, she knew he understood the reason behind her expression.

"Don’t you have official meetings to attend to?" She subconsciously pulled the duvet above her naked breast, and the young vampire reclined on his bed, hands behind his head. The ebony duvet shielded his lower body, leaving his torso bare for her eyes to see, and he clicked his tongue.

"Do you want me to leave?" He casted her a side glance, and Samantha’s eyes blinked rapidly at his question. The mere sight of him was enough to make her recollect what he had put her through last night, and he didn’t give her a moment of rest till she was unable to move a limb. He had held her so close that she could feel his hardness against the line of her ass, and she knew if both of them stayed long enough, they were bound to continue.

She already felt sore down there, her body was frighteningly greedy for more regardless of it, but she couldn’t tell if she was ready to take more of him. Understanding her silence, Ivan yanked the duvet from her delicate grip, exposing her naked self to his eyes, but her pupils dilated at the sight of Ivan and his full glory. As it was daytime, both their naked bodies were visible, and Samantha’s cheeks heated at the sight of her husband’s bare body.

"Does it hurt that much?" He asked, the concern in his voice evident as he reached for her closed legs to spread them open, but Samantha refused to nudge as she quickly said.

"It is my first time, you don’t have to confirm anything. I know I will be better soon." She shook her head, undeniably flustered, yet touched by his concern.

"You’re going to stay in bed then, till you feel better." He instructed, knowing he was the evident cause of her predicament. "In the meantime, I’ll go get ready then. Okay?"

Sliding his hands to the back of her neck, he brought her face close so he could leave an imprint of his love on her forehead. Before he could pull away and leave her to get more rest, she threw her hands around his shoulder, pulling him down on her till she was kissing him.

He pulled back quickly, his crimson eyes stunned by her actions.

"Don’t tempt me like that." He admonished softly, "you need to–"

And she silenced him with another kiss, using the opportunity to penetrate her tongue into his mouth as she pulled him down on her. Ivan was long gone as he feverishly responded to her kiss, taking it slow and sensual, the way they both liked it.

"You really had to do this when I was letting you of the hook." He whispered upon her skin, the hair at his face tickling her neck. "Aren’t you in pain?"

"Then why don’t you replace my pain with something else?" She asked, his eyes reflecting her desire back at her. When her hand reached up to touch his cheek, he took it in his hand and kissed her palm.

"You’re my only soulmate. Let me know if I’m being rough, I can’t promise anything. If I don’t stop, bite me if you have to." And he claimed her lips.
