Bride To His Darkness
Chapter 219: Words So Plain

Chapter 219: Words So Plain

—-

When Ivan was done rinsing the blood from his hand, he found it absurd how they strangely consumed what they literally possessed. Although, taking human blood never did that much effect on him unless it was the blood of a vampire, but somehow, he had managed to control that thirst, and it was all because he had a little lamb to consume his mind, heart, thoughts, and his entire being as a whole. She was the one who had his buttons, and whichever she presses, he would gladly follow.

Stepping out of his bathroom chamber when he was done, Samantha’s small worried face came into view as she stopped pacing. When she reached his side to have a good look at his blood-free hands, the wound had healed, no scars, no nothing, it was almost as if she had illusion the injury, and that made her release a sigh that expressed her relief.

"Thank heavens, my heart was at the verge of flying through that window." She dramatically said to Ivan who cradled her her adorable face to drop a lingering kiss on her forehead. Her eyes instinctively closed at his loving gesture, and a smile so true that it lit her heart and soul, reflected on her face when he pulled back to look at her.

She was happy, he could see it, he sensed it, and that made him happier.

"I never thought that this amount of happiness was capable of existing." She admitted, almost afraid that she might wake up and realize that it was nothing but her dreams. Everything was happening so fast, it didn’t feel real, but why was she concerned? She would hate to wake up from this dream. If it was possible to communicate with reality she would tell it to let her die in this profound joy she had been engulfed in, and holding Ivan like this, Samantha couldn’t stop herself from going into his arms that were now her home, embracing him.

The candelabra was the only source of light illuminating the room, and that was because she had left it burning before stepping out. Asides that, the room would have been enshrouded in complete darkness.

"Is everything happening too fast?" Samantha’s inquiring tone broke the silence, her voice was low and quite hesitant, whilst she felt Ivan’s hold around her turn firmer, like a protective shield yielding her into his endless comfort.

"Too fast?" Ivan murmured a question, as though he found her inquiries silly. "You do realize that I had the power to hold Agathe the moment I figured she threatened you. I didn’t do it because you told me not to, but, however, I enjoyed the outcome of it. Everything is going the way it should be, I do not want any more obstacles in our path, I want to keep you away from all of them, by my side."

"What happens to Agathe?"

"She will be taken to Vesunard at dawn to face a proper trial, I don’t want her here." There was a lingering coldness in his voice when he uttered that word, and it made Samantha aware that he was only stopping himself from dealing with her personally due to his cousins. "Maybe sometime in the future, I’ll take you with me to Vesunard so you can see the place for yourself. Eventually, I’ll have to visit my other Kingdom and grace them with their new Queen."

"You’ll take me there? But... isn’t it occupied with vampires?" She inquired from Ivan, her gaze skeptical as she pulled back to look at him. She has only ever heard of Vesunard and what it looked like, she also heard that there was never daytime there– it was like entering another completely different realm, but still connected to GreenHollow.

"Yes, but no one dares to harm you in my presence. Vesunard isn’t as bad as you think, although my kind would take time adjusting to a human in their midst, they will learn. We have Viktor and Lucien to keep us company. Nothing will happen."

At his reassurance, her shoulders eased, and she said. "When we finally get married, I want to keep helping you. Remember when I had to disguise as your aide for the hunting ground, or when we had to expose Eamon, and then deal with Callum... I don’t want it to stop afterwards, I want you to take me everywhere with you, I want to keep helping you in the little ways I can possibly assist you."

"Even in the battlefields?" He teased, and Samantha’s eyes lit up.

"I have powers now! I bet I can be of proper help on the battlefields too. It will be an era when the Queen steps foot into the battlefield beside her husband."

"You are a silly little lamb." He ruffled her hair. "I want to pamper you but you want to step your tiny legs on a battlefield with beasts and men triple your size." He turned away from her and went to sit on his bed, "we’re going to have a disagreement on this one. How should we solve it?"

"Isn’t it solved?" Samantha took measured steps towards where he sat, but the way her hips moved and how her footsteps slightly changed would make one think she was trying to seduce him– that was what Ivan assumed presently. Standing in between his legs, she moved her knee up as though she wanted to climb the bed and pressed the knee-cap on the surface, while her other leg remained on the ground. Her arms rested on his shoulder as she whispered.

"You won’t listen to me?" Her voice held three things; mischief, innocence, and emotional blackmail.

Ivan could not look away from the goddess of nature and gently swallowed his desires. His hands grabbed her waist that just seemed to fit, as though every inch of her was made just for him alone. When she speaks, he could not run away from that bewitching tongue of hers so he is bound to listen to her even if he doesn’t want to, she had that infinite power which no one in this world, the galaxy, would ever possess over him.

She speaks, he listens– He speaks, she listens. It was a cluster of contradictory logic yet that was what made the very pinnacle of it more exciting.

"Say what you wish, and let me worship you." His voice deepened with need. Due to their present position, with him sitting and her standing with one knee of the bed, it made her look taller, as if ready to dominate him at his word and he– he would surrender to it without bothering to think twice.

When her enticing lips tilt to a smile, it was instantly replaced with a breathy gasp as her back found the surface of the bed, and Ivan prowled his way over her on all fours.

Samantha’s cheeks heated up at his actions, and she was unaware that she wasn’t only dealing with a man, but someone whose vampiric and demonic needs wanted to make her theirs for good. He wanted to own her, he wanted to love her, he wanted to destroy her, he wanted to protect her? How insane! But yes, he wanted to do all these, and more which he would not reveal.

"Ivan..." her voice, an enchantment in his ears that almost sent him melting into puddles made him fix his heated gaze back on her, and the shape of his irises had mystically changed.

"You make me happy." She admitted, and unlike before when she was hesitant to touch him, her hands cupped his face, brushing away the strands of unruly black hair that fell on his forehead.

"I love you." She whispered with sincerity, her gaze unyielding as she took in his expression. The momentary dilation of his pupils, the surprising arch of both his eyebrows as he seemed to take a moment to process her words.

"You... love me?" He whispered back as though he needed to hear her say them again. They were words so plain, yet it sparkled a light in Ivan’s heart as he watched her nod.

"Very much." She added while lowering his face down so she would leave the invincible imprint of her devotion on his forehead. Ivan let out a peal of laughter as her confession resonated in his head, but it expressed her happiness as he looked into her eyes that bore the most priceless green jewel.

"I love you too, I love you so much." Cupping her rosy cheeks, he began to gift her face with thousands of kisses that left her giggling, whilst overlapping his hand with her own till he claimed her lips.

Meanwhile, at the court of celestial Valor, the contestants were already paired. Alistair facepalms as he watches Maurice hide behind the tapestries, mumbling unheard words to himself. Herbert exchanged glances with Alistair as though they were both tired of having to deal with the lad’s worries.

"Will you come out from there?"

"I’m going to die, I saw this day coming." Maurice admitted, already wailing at the death sentence he was heartlessly offered with. Why on Earth will anyone pair him with Bryn of all people??

BRYN??!!!

"Are you scared?

"No, I just have this TERRIFIED look on my face cause I’m having so much. FUN with the event." Maurice remarked before letting out a laugh that sounded like he was at the verge of crying.

"I’m gonna die."

"No I don’t wanna hear that negativity," Herbert admonished, "I mean look at the event happening from the bright side."

"Yay! I’m gonna die! Woohoo!"

"He’s hopeless." Alistair walked away, leaving Herbert to deal with the new mufasa.
