Chapter 207: Visiting His Past
Chapter 207: Visiting His Past
That morning, when Samantha stirred in her sleep, succumbing to the comfort of what felt like a plush mattress, her eyelids slowly opened, and her blurry gaze was fixed on Ivan who was sleeping soundly on the space beside her, his sharp features softened by sleep. When her visions cleared after several blinking, a lazy smile graced her lips upon seeing Ivan asleep, and this would be the first time she had woken up to find him still within his chamber.
With squinted eyes, her gaze drifted to the curtains to see the light of day peeking in, whilst her eyes snapped wide when nothing seemed right about the two of them sleeping on the same bed, and in that pondering moment, something in her head simultaneously clicked! Her body pushed themselves into a sitting position after notifying her mind that she had slept on Ivan’s bed, and her cheeks bloomed red as she tried to recall what had happened last night.
Weren’t they watching the waves last night? How did they end up in the Palace? And in his bed too? Did she fall asleep? A surge of embarrassment surged through her that she cringed at her own actions.
She facepalmed upon realizing that she rested on Ivan’s lap last night, and she had been feeling a bit drowsy at that time, which meant there was a high chance she must have fallen asleep in the process. Returning her gaze to Ivan who was still asleep, Samantha couldn’t resist bringing her hand to his face, almost like a ceaseless reaction that she could not control, and she moved the unruly strands of coal-black hair away from his serene countenance.
She felt the texture of his Ivory skin, her fingers fidgeting in her movement as she tried not to wake him up, and as she softly caressed his face, her eyes inadvertently lowered to the buttons on his shirt that had been undone, exposing a subtle view of his chest. Samantha’s eyebrows knitted into concern and worry as she hadn’t noticed it before, but in his heart region was a faint little scar, almost matching the color of his skin, which was probably why she hadn’t noticed it, but looking at them now, she could recall the discussion they had at the perpetual valley, when he told her that he had a piece of the orb implanted in his heart.
But if she was the orb, does that mean he was implanted with her very own essence?
"Aish!" Samantha winced in a hushed tone when she felt a sharp sting coming from the new bitemark Ivan had given her. It was a complete comparison to being stung by a bee, and when she placed her palm on the crook of her neck where the bite mark was located, the same mysterious hot feeling was beginning to take over, leading her to close her eyes in order to subdue its effect, but strangely, the sensation returned with more intensity than the last time, and when she opened her eyes in a snap, she was standing at the entrance of Ivan’s cold room.
The structure was the same, nothing about it had changed from the black and white he preferred, but still, Samantha could sense an inexplicable difference. The curtains that separated her bed from Ivan’s were no longer there, as if it never existed, and her eyebrows rose in perplexity. A cold unwelcomed breeze invaded the room, and everything felt real that Samantha almost shivered from the chilly weather.
When she glanced at the window, it was.... NIGHT TIME?!!
"How is this...?" Samantha remained rooted in her spot, completely dazed. The earlier sensation from the bite mark was gone, but she was too awestruck and confused by the swift change of scenery to even bother about it. Moving her legs forward till she was standing at the center of the room, she felt a familiar presence, and when she turned around, the door to Ivan’s room opened just in time, but what Samantha hadn’t expected was to find a young boy at the age of ten-eleven, roughly shoved into the room, so much so that he fell to the ground on all fours, and at the entrance of the door stood Carina who glared at him as if she had touched dirt.
"Stay in your Chambers and read the books that have been assigned to you." Carina strictly said to the boy who was silently staring at her with deep blue eyes. Due to the sudden shove, his glasses had slipped off, and he could barely see the woman who was presently ordering him around. He instinctively tried to reach for his glasses, but he could not find where it had rolled off to.
"If you can fail at your duties of becoming a true royal Chevalier bloodline, at least do not bring shame upon your parents by failing the royal examination." Carina seethed in pure disdain, unable to hide her hostility, "what were you about to do? Stealing my son’s throne from him. You can’t even activate your vampiric abilities and you want to rule a Kingdom that is stronger than your tiny muscles? Listen to me, you are an underling, you will forever remain below my son, you will serve him and it will never be the other way round! Do you get that?!"
Samantha had forgotten how to breathe as she watched Carina throw tantrums at the boy. Meanwhile, the boy was more interested in finding his glasses. The candlelight that was placed on the table illuminated his face, and those blue eyes, the glasses, and the striking resemblance that seemed to match the characteristics of a particular Vampire’s feature.
"Ivan?" Samantha’s pupils shockingly dilated upon realizing she was gazing at the younger version of Ivan. He didn’t seem to hear her call her name, which could only mean her presence was obscured from his sight. When he still searched for his glasses, Samantha had been willing to get them for him, but when she bent to pick up the glasses, her hands went right through it, almost as if she was a ghost who was incapable of connecting with everything that was going on.
It took a while before her pupils constricted, obviously struck to realize why everything was the way it was.
She had ventured into his past!
