Bride To His Darkness -
Chapter 162: A New Master
Chapter 162: A New Master
When the cell doors opened up, Ivan stepped inside without hesitation, and the witch he held captive tried to dodge his presence as she crawled deeper into the darkness where he would not reach her, but the vampire King took unhurried steps towards her direction, his eyes glinting sardonically in the dark. He could smell her fear, her confusion, her skepticism, and he was someone who was more acquainted with the darkness, making it quite easy for him to see through no matter how piercing the darkness may be.
He halted three feets away from her, and when he crouched down on both knees in front of her, her long black hair was obstructing the view of her face, whilst he tilted his head intimidatingly to the side, a lazy smirk painting his features. "I admit that we may have started off on a wrong note, what happened was... beyond what we expected, but we could end up on a far more awful note if you don’t hand me your medallion. I know you have one on you as we speak, give it or you leave me with no other choice but to take it the hard way."
Extending his hand forth, Ivan compelled the witch to hand him her medallion, whilst his eyes bore not even a flicker of sympathy in them. When she slowly lifted her head to look at him, he could see the fear mixed with hatred that displayed on her features, her sorrowful eyes wavering with silent grief. He could hear her hiss in annoyance, it conveyed her frustration, and then she muttered.
"My master will not spare you." She hissed out before promising softly, "my master will come for me, and that orb girl you desperately keep with you." Her once gloomy eyes now held a tinge of malice as she uttered this words to Ivan, but it wasn’t her threat that had been befuddled, it was the master she had mentioned that had his eyes narrowing suspiciously, and when he moved closer, she flinched back in fear, her back meeting the wall, but she was smiling now, a smile that only meant her words were no empty threat at all.
"Master?" Ivan’s frown deepened, "are you trying to mess with me? Don’t you work for the princess in your Kingdom? Or is there.. a warlock prince that I also need to be wary about? Answer me, and I would spare you with the honor of keeping your left hand." Ivan’s voice dripped with authority, so much so that the smile on the witch’s lips faded until he covered the distance between them. "Answer..... me."
"That orb girl was never yours to keep." The witch eventually opened up, her expression giving her off as a lunatic. "She belongs to my realm, and we’re only taking back what had been stolen many years ago.....!!!!" In an instant, her throat closed up when Ivan’s fingers swiftly curled around her neck, and he effortlessly pulled her up to her feet, her legs dangling in the air as she struggled to breath, and if there was one thing she had been advised not to do, it was provoking the vampire King. The way a terrifying shade of dark red enveloped his vision, his irises contracting menacingly only had the witch feeling an adrenaline rush.
"My little lamb belongs to no one but me, do you get that?" he stated coolly, but the warning in his tone could not be ignored. "Utter another word about her and I will sever your dirty tongue from your useless mouth hole. Do I make myself clear?" And he released her.
The witch, who could almost feel her soul slipping away was made to feel life again when his grip on her throat loosened. Gasping harshly for air, the witch was thrown off guard when he trapped her hands behind her back, and to her greatest disbelief, he used his other free hand to reach for the belt around her waist. He brought the medallion which she had hid there, and despite all her efforts to keep its energy hidden, he still found it. Seeing her precious medallion in his grip, she tried to break free from his hold, but the vampire King possessed a strength that could not be mismatched.
"Give it back to me!" She cried out, but Ivan simply slipped the medallion into his trouser pocket before releasing her from his clutches. When she stood up from the ground to attack him and retrieve her medallion, an unknown force that was within her control had pulled her down to her knees so she could kneel before Ivan. Her body was no longer under her control as she was forced to kneel against her will, and regardless of her effort to break the invisible chain he was using to keep her down, it was impossible to free herself from it.
"This master...." Ivan switched the conversation back to where it all began. "Your witch Queen wants my land and the humans within it, your warlock Prince wants my little lamb whom you keep referring to as the ’orb girl’." A sadistic chuckle escaped his lips as he threw his head back, the ominous laughter echoing within the vicinity of the dungeon, and just like that he was frowning again, but there was a trace of acknowledgement in his eyes. "Is this the beginning of a new war? Very well then, I shall send a treaty to your people, that I humbly accept their offer for war, and do you know who’s going to deliver this treaty?"
His tone sounded dangerously humorous as he looked down at the witch who trembled under the intensity of his piercing eyes. A smile spread across his face, slow and sadistic, just like what he had in mind for the witch who was kneeling before him.
"Why are your people abducting humans from my land? If I abducted one of your people would you take it lightly? Stupid question, why am I even asking, but I’d like to know something else.... What do your people plan on using those humans for? Your last comrades who were caught in the act had nothing vital to give, so I burned them, but you.... I believe you know something about this."
"I don’t."
"Don’t make me torture you," he warned, "have pity on your pathetic self and tell me the real truth. Who is your Queen? Who is this master? And why are they starting a feud that they might be incapable of ending? If you continue to lie to me your life will be reduced to an unending sequence of agonizing torture." A slow smile curved his lips, "normally I’m not this brash but I have no compassion for those who try to stab my little lamb in the back with a knife."
While he continued to address the witch, Herbert stayed on guard outside the cell, and sometimes he couldn’t help but wonder how Lord Ivan could lie easily about not being brash towards his enemy. Brash sounded more like an understatement to him.
"I really don’t know!" She answered, tears forming in her eyes once more. "Our beauty, the beauty we possess was taken away from us many years ago, and... and she told us we would gain it back during the next blood moon. This was the announcement she made, I don’t know anything aside from this, nor do I know her reasons for abducting humans. Our Queen is more reserved than you think, we only follow orders."
"The next blood moon?" Ivan’s brows creased in perplexity, dark lines forming across his forehead. "What about my– the orb girl? Why did your so-called Master send you to kill her under my wings?"
"I wasn’t going to kill her!" She admitted, "I... I was sent to bring her with me, it was an order from my master!"
