Bride To His Darkness
Chapter 149: GreenHollow

Chapter 149: GreenHollow

Samantha wasn’t entirely sure about what happened or how it happened, but she found herself pacing about like an anticipating pet that was waiting for its master to return. Her heart drummed consistently when she placed a finger to her slightly wet lips, and it became evident that she hadn’t imagined the earlier kiss, he really kissed her!! Samantha’s pupils contracted in shock as the feeling of his cool lips on hers still lingered, but in a matter of minutes, the prickling pain in her chest mysteriously returned, hitting her deep in the heart like she had been stabbed with an in invisible knife, whilst she clutched painfully to her chest yet again, and this inexplicable sensation was happening for the fourth time this night.

"What is happening to me?" She breathlessly muttered her discomfort, but she was quick to adjust herself when she heard approaching footsteps behind her. Turning around swiftly, Samantha found her brother standing at the entrance, and there was a look of relief in his eyes as he walked in. A slight smile graced his lips as he patted her head in a brotherly manner, and Samantha returned his smile, regardless of the strange unexplainable pain she felt within her heart.

"Ready to leave?" He asked, "I’ve got everything set for our departure. The carriage is waiting outside but is there anyone else you’d like to see before we leave? Anyone who isn’t the vampire King?" He specified as a hint, and undoubtedly, he knew there was more to the story that his sister wasn’t telling him. For example, he noticed she bore no hatred for that man, and he saw a different sparkle in her eyes whenever he was around, like in the coronation when they kept staring at each other, as if no one else existed.

He was that observant, and he would make sure to find out what it was once they’d safely made it to Meadow Town.

"Shall we?"

Samantha glanced at the balcony’s entrance before returning her hesitant gaze to Maurice. Knowing she wouldn’t be able to wait for Ivan now that he was here, she could only nod her head.

Together, they exited the balcony.

Lucy, the head maid, Herbert, and the butler came to wave their goodbyes to Samantha, including a few couple of servants who wanted to wish her a safe trip to wherever she was going. Samantha gave Lucy one more meaningful hug before pulling away.

"Thank you for being a good friend. I wouldn’t have survived till this day if it wasn’t for you." Samantha uttered with gratitude, her eyes watering at the thought of leaving Lucy too, but her friend simply shook her head with an unrelenting stare. "You better write to me, even if it’s in secret. Maybe one of these days I can sneak off and pay you a visit, but for now, please take good care of yourself and stay away from trouble."

"Can you send my goodbyes to his Majesty for me?"

Lucy nodded, "I will. Goodbye Maurice, you both should journey safely." She waved at Maurice who only answered with a curt nod of his head. Getting into the carriage, Samantha glanced at the Palace entrance one more time, waving at all of them before the carriage rode off, exiting through the gate. She peered out the window with an indecisive stare until she no longer sighted the Chevalier Palace, and she looked away, the discomfort in her chest returning as the carriage rode down the hill. Ivan had told her to wait, but she hoped he would forgive her for not being able to do so.

"Are we settling in Meadow?" To keep her depressed mind occupied, she turned to her brother who nodded his head.

"Yes." Maurice quietly responded, "it’s extremely safe with good lands. I picked there cause I knew you’d like it, and that vampire King rubbed in his agreement too." He glanced at his sister with a questioning frown. "Am I missing something here? For a man who destroyed our family five years ago it’s almost make believe to see him care about you, or anyone to be more precise. I have enough reasons to dislike him, but is there something I should know that you’re not telling me. What happened? Why is he being suspiciously nice all of a sudden?"

"I’ll tell you everything, but not right now, it’s a long–" Samantha stopped short in her sentence when the pain in her chest intensified, and she closed her eyes for a moment to get rid of the discomfort before forcing a smile. "It’s... It’s not a story I can explain in....ah!" A short painful cry tore from Samantha’s lips as she clutched her chest, her head bent low as she shook it slightly, unable to bear the pain that constantly grew with each pang of her heart.

"Sam!" Maurice’s brown eyes widened in apprehension upon noticing his sister’s sudden reaction, and he placed his hands on her shoulder in haste, pulling her close to him so he could check what the problem was. "Are you alright? What’s the problem?"

"I don’t know." Samantha shook her head, her eyes squeezed shut as she clenched her brother’s palm with her own. "I... I feel strange, like my insides are burning but I don’t know what’s happening..." Opening her watery eyes, Samantha’s gaze inadvertently darted towards the window, and to her biggest surprise, she noticed a green vine slithering through the glass. The window wasn’t fully closed, whilst she watched as the green vine freely threaded inside the carriage.

"What.... What is that?!" Maurice simply pulled Samantha away from the strange plant that continued to head in the direction where they sat, but to Maurice’s astonishment, his sister held out her hand for the vine, as if beckoning the plant over, and he watched as the plant delicately wrapped her palm, but not in a way that threatened either of them.

It’s alive?!!

There was an unprecedented thunder clap in the sky, and Samantha glanced at her brother, a look of recognition dawning on her visage before diverting it to the plant on her wrist.

"Stop the carriage!" She quickly said.

"What? Why?"

"Stop the Carriage!" Samantha quickly said to the Coachman who immediately stopped the carriage. Without answering her brother’s questions, Samantha opened the door and stepped down from the carriage, carefully raising her dress above her ankle so she could walk properly.

There were no words to explain Maurice’s confusion, but since he didn’t have the heart to leave her outside all alone, he immediately stepped down from the carriage. He was about to question her one more time, but his expression dropped when a great number of vines trailed behind their carriage, as if it had followed them here, and the sight had shocked him to the core that he stumbled back and dropped to the ground on his butt. One of the vines slowly wrapped around his feet, but Maurice yanked his leg away before rising to his feet.

"What in sorcery’s name is going on? Sam?" He glanced at his sister who showed no fear to the vines’ phenomenal presence, and he noticed that wherever she moved, they followed, as if she was their master and they were under her spell and command.

"What is going on?"

The sound of thunder rumbling above the sky had Maurice glancing up to see a flash of lightning, and it reflected in his brown eyes. Was it going to rain????

Maurice was in denial as he had never seen a raindrop in EmptyHollow before. Glancing at his sister who seemed to have control over these strange plants that followed her wherever she went, he noticed his sister eventually stopped walking when she made it to the heart of the forest. With her hand stretched forth, all the vines rose from the ground, and Maurice almost stumbled again when they rose high enough to be compared to that of a tree. When Samantha brought her hands down, the vines immediately plunged down into the Earth, all of them dug their way into the Earth’s ground, and then it began to get windy.

"Sam!" Maurice couldn’t count how many times he had called her name, but she seemed tranced as she kept controlling every vines to go beneath the Earth, and it was at that moment he saw the mystical green glow that radiated from her dainty palm.

All of a sudden, it began to drizzle.

Maurice watched the miracle happen in front of him as green vegetation began to uproot from the ground, and it didn’t stop until the whole place was occupied with nature’s greenery, even the trees were coming back to life as their once naked forms started growing leaves.

"Holy Mother of nature!" He mused, and the greenery swept wide, stretching far and beyond. Did his sister just.....

"My King!" The door to the study room was busted open by Herbert, and he noticed that Ivan was on his last kill as he plunged the sharp mouths of his scepter into one of the Courtiers body, drawing out a good amount of blood, and with no sympathy in his bloodlust eyes, he swiped the blade up, tearing open the Courtiers abdomen as more blood splattered on his handsome face.

The study was a different blood bath that even sent shivers down Herbert’s spine.

"Yes? Herbert?"

"Forgive my interruptions, but the crowds are.... It will be better if you look through the window, My King." Herbert lowered his head, unsure of how he was going to explain the strange phenomenon to Ivan. The young vampire King had been so driven by bloodlust that he didn’t pay attention to the slight rumbling of thunder outside, but due to Herbert’s intervention, he could feel a strange aura coming from the atmosphere outside.

Striding towards the window to have a look, Ivan’s crimson eyes dilated at the green vegetation that rolled in from the gates. Every earth had green vegetation growing out of them, and the trees weren’t excluded as they bloomed with green leaves before Ivan’s eyes.

But how is this...?

"Is my little lamb still on the balcony?" He asked Herbert whose gaze remained low, but he sensed the urgency in Ivan’s voice.

"No, she already left, My King."

"She did what?!... Fuck!" He hissed out, and there was a strange glimmer of fear that portrayed in his eyes at the thought of her leaving.

"She can’t leave! She’s not allowed to leave." He shook his head and handed his bloodied scepter to Herbert. "Get this cleaned, and send a few guards to clear this bunch of vermin from my study." Was his quick order before he left.

Going down the stairs, he could see most of the guests were peering out the window, their excitement doubled, but upon sighting him, their heads immediately returned to a deep bow until he passed them by, and it was obvious he was in a hurry to get somewhere.

Stepping out of the Palace with the citizens watching him, Ivan immediately unfurled his large wings, and with a wind that sent half of the subjects staggering back, he ascended swiftly into the red night sky, leaving everyone’s jaw dropping open in awe as he released his wings in front of them.

"Momma! Look, an angel!" A little girl who stayed with her Mother, pointed at Ivan’s silhouette as he vanished from the sky with lightning speed.
