Chapter 129: Harmless Little Lamb

Returning to his chamber, Ivan noticed the young woman no longer sobbed out, and when he looked down at the arms that still held onto him, her grasp was still firm against him, but her eyelids were closed, making him realize she had fallen asleep on the way here. Dropping her on the bed no longer seemed possible, whilst he took his seat on his chaise lounge while she slept comfortably in his arms, her head resting comfortably against his chest.

Ivan grabbed a nearby blanket that was neatly folded and draped it on Samantha to shield her body from the coldness of his chamber. One would actually think he was nursing a newborn due to how he handled her like an egg that would break if he wasn’t careful.

When nighttime approached, Samantha’s eyes opened once again.

Blinking severally to clear her vision, her green eyes settled on the face of Ivan who seemed to have dozed off. It took a while for Samantha to realize she had slept in the arms of Ivan, but when she tried to move, the biting pain in her back made her stay still, whilst her gaze moved to Ivan who hadn’t shifted from his position. He propped his head with his hand, and his eyes were sealed shut, his lashes didn’t show even the slightest flicker, which meant he had to be asleep.

Samantha’s eyes darted across the room that was enveloped in a shadowy darkness. The only light that illuminated the room came from the glass window since the curtains hadn’t been drawn closed. Letting out a deep breath, her gaze inadvertently landed on where she had rested her head, and her eyes widened to see she had dampened Ivan’s shirt with her tears.

Did she cry in her sleep?

Lifting her hand and placing it on his chest, Samantha tried to erase the tears by wiping it off so he wouldn’t see and get mad at her because of it, but her body froze when she heard a deep sotto voce question her action.

"What are you doing?"

Moving her gaze from his chest to meet Ivan’s crimson eyes that gleamed with warmth, she could feel her heart race as she pointed at the result of her tears on his shirt. "I... I’ll wash it for you if–"

"If..?" Ivan raised his right eyebrow at her, but to Samantha’s surprise, he brought her head back to his chest, and she could feel his fingers stroke her disheveled hair in a comforting manner. "You can cry on me if you wish, I do not have a problem with it." He cooed, and Samantha suddenly felt irrevocably small in his arms. When she lifted her doe-green eyes to look at him, Samantha could feel her body succumb to his warmth and comfort, even when her mind told her to do the opposite.

"What happened?" She asked, still not taking her head away from his chest as it felt comfortable leaning on him like this.

"What happened?" Ivan hummed as his fingers gently patted her covered legs. "We got married."

"Eh?" Samantha’s eyes that had turned slightly red from crying, instantly snapped wide at his response. "You’re lying."

"Not for long." He remarked softly, and when her eyes narrowed suspiciously, as if she didn’t believe him, he asked. "Why? You don’t wanna be married to me?"

"It’s not that." Samantha lowered her gaze, and she felt her cheeks heat up at his question. "How did you know I was... how did you find me at the..?"

"I’ll always find you, you’re my little lamb, never forget that." His hands that patted her legs proceeded to massage them through the blanket, an action that had Samantha’s blush creeping even further, and she lowered her gaze when he returned his attention to her face.

"How are you feeling?"

Samantha nodded her head, indicating she was better. Her heart no longer felt as heavy as before, and she could breathe now. Her only worries were on Claire, but before she could ask about the vampiress and everyone else, a knock on the door interrupted her before she could speak. When she made an attempt to stand up, Ivan’s hardened stare made her stay put.

"Come in."

When the door opened, Lucy stepped inside with a tray of meals, and her eyes grew slightly wide to find Ivan and Samantha sitting in the dark corner where the chaise lounge was located. When she dropped the tray on the table before them, she stole a peek at Samantha whose flustered expression had grown worse, and it was expected since the young woman knew she was going to tease the daylights out of her considering this.

"Thank you, Lucy." Ivan appreciated her help since she had made the chicken soup he requested. Lucy bowed her head once more and smiled delightfully.

"I’d be happy to do more, you have my loyal support, My Lordship."

"Then I have one more request to make, can you set the tub for me? Make it warm enough for a certain little lamb of mine."

"Of course." Bowing deeply once more, Lucy turned and headed to his bathing chamber that adjoined his room. When she stepped inside with the door closing, Ivan reached for the glass of water that was beside the chicken soup, and he tilted the cup.

"Thirsty?"

"Yes please." Suddenly having the urge to drink some water, Samantha stretched her hand forth to take the cup, feeling internally grateful for his generosity, but then her hand stopped mid-way when Ivan drank the water from the cup instead, leaving Samantha staring agape. She was about to whine when Ivan suddenly cradled her neck in his palm, pulling her close, and their lips met.

Eyes closed, Samantha could feel her lips willingly part themselves, giving the vampire Lord enough chance to access her mouth. He released the water that had turned warm into her own mouth, but he didn’t pull away without stealing a deep passionate kiss the minute he was done. He repeated the action three more times, and the last one had Samantha releasing a soft moan before he pulled back to meet her completely flushed face.

Droplets of the water escaped the corner of her sweet lips, and the sight alone was enough to set Ivan’s crimson eyes on fire.

The sound of glass shattering had the two of them turning their attention to where the sound was coming from. Lucy, who had stepped out of the bathing chamber to ask Ivan which oil she could add to the water, froze in her spot at the sight she was met with, whilst the lavender oil and the two different fragrance oil she had brought out dropped from her palm, and the sound of the glass bottles shattering was what snapped her out of her daze.

"Ah! Forgive me! I..I only wanted.." Letting out a panicked squeal, Lucy crouched down to pick up the shards of glass from the ground.

"There’s a new one in the bathing chamber, you can use any of them." Ivan answered the question she hadn’t even asked, and Lucy, who immediately bobbed her head, scurried back into the bathing chamber. When she was gone, Ivan returned his gaze to Samantha who was still staring at the doors of the bathing chamber, the redness of her cheeks made her appear cuter.

"Hey, l want your eyes on me." He diverted her attention back to him. Knowing she won’t be needing more water, he dropped it back on the tray before reaching for the chicken soup. To Samantha’s surprise, he blew gently on the spoon before bringing it to her lips. "Open up."

"I can feed myself."

"I know." Was his quipped response, but he made no attempt to let her feed herself as he still waited for her to open up. When Samantha parted her lips more wide, he took the spoon in, and the richness of the chicken soup had Samantha visiting heaven.

"Is it to your liking?"

"It’s...one of the best." She answered, and when Ivan made an attempt to feed her the second time, she asked. "Have you ever taken care of someone before?"

"No." He blew off the steam since the soup was still too hot, "you’re the first."

Hearing this, Samantha willingly let him feed her till she felt full that she couldn’t take anymore. "I’m... I’m fine now."

"The tub is set, if you’re having trouble bathing yourself, I can always....lend an extra hand." He flexed his long beautiful fingers for Samantha to see, and although she didn’t know what that statement really meant, the look in his eyes told her it had to be something nasty.

"No, I can manage." Finally getting off his legs, Samantha turned to the bathroom. If it wasn’t for the fact she had to bathe, she doubts he would have given her the chance to stand up if she wanted, but it made her heart beat in a good way.

Watching her small figure retreat as she made her way to the bathing chamber, Ivan’s eyes sparkled with ardor, and he couldn’t help but feel bewitched by her.

Especially after knowing his harmless little lamb had a dark side.
