Bride To His Darkness
Chapter 105: Lord Draven’s Agreement

Chapter 105: Lord Draven’s Agreement

When Ivan closed the distance between them with a swift motion, it wasn’t an action he had solely decided on, but before he could stop himself from doing something stupid or out of line, it was too late, cause he was already kissing his little lamb on the lips. The way her body had frozen against him as if she had been electrified by their sudden contact, made it difficult for him to stop - but then it was only a mere touch of the lips, with no penetration, whatsoever, yet he could feel himself shockingly breathing and not breathing at the same time.

The sudden sensation felt foreign to him.

Samantha on the other hand could barely get her eyes to blink when he kissed her without any heads up, and the way her mind had gone blank from his unprecedented actions, she could feel her heartbeat racing erratically against her chest, maybe because he had stolen her first kiss from her, but when he pulled away to meet her dazed eyes, rather than getting upset or mad, a pink blush hue colored her cheeks in embarrassment all the way up to her ears.

She could hardly breathe.

"What is this nonsense?! What are you trying to prove by kissing a servant in front of everyone, huh?" Carina, who was fuming after that indecent display, questioned Ivan who hardly paid any attention to her words as he was still lost in the eyes of his little lamb.

Instant gasps and murmurs filled the air as the onlookers struggled to comprehend this sudden affectionate display by Lord Ivan himself. Suddenly, a defiant look gleamed in his eyes when he turned to his family, and he announced, "I hereby declare that Samantha Woods shall be my bride, and no one else’s" He made it clear enough for the deaf ones like Carina to hear properly, his voice ringing with conviction. "No one shall harm her, no one is allowed to come three feets near her, for she carries my heart."

A hush silence fell upon the room as his words echoed through the grand hall. The servants who didn’t want to believe it at first, exchanged bewildered glances, their expression a mixture of shock and concern as they questioned one another silently, hoping they weren’t seeing or hearing differently from everyone else, but they had all seen the vampire Lord kissing her with their own eyes, what more proof could they possibly need?

."His Lordship is in love with his maid?" The whispering was endless, so much so that Carina darted them a warning glance that shut them up instantly. Knowing the royal family would need some space to sort this out by themselves, Albert immediately excused the servants from the room, leaving Ivan and Sam with the royal families who were ready to confront them.

Ivy, who watched Ivan kiss his servant right in front of her, could barely contain her anger as her hands balled into a tight fist, whilst her nails dug into her palm, drawing out blood. The ache in her heart had been broken into many tiny fragments, she wondered if anyone heard it shatter, and when she couldn’t watch what was happening as it had gotten unbearable for her, obviously repulsed by the sight, she turned away with her eyes filled to the brim with fresh tears.

Carina and Claire could feel the blood drain from their faces, and when their gazes moved to the four Lords, they looked more amused than offended. After a human was said to have killed the late King, a union between humans and Vampires were no longer accepted, and this was why Carina had waited for the higher-ups to intervene and stop this, but the reaction they were displaying right now, wasn’t the reaction she expected at all, cause deep down, she knew they shared the same hostility for humans, and it was undeniable.

"No one is stopping you from making your choices Ivan." Abdiel intervened, the tone of his voice sounding firm as he too wasn’t finding the sight appreciative, "but I won’t accept any more humans as a royal in this Family. Did you forget what happened to your Father? He was assassinated in his own home, Humans cannot be trusted!"

When everyone was laying out their complaint, Lord Draven simply kept staring at the human servant with keen eyes. He tilted his head slowly as he scrutinized her from head to toe, and then his lips twitched, as if he had the intention to smile but was withholding it, and in the middle of everyone’s argument, he said.

"If Ivan thinks a human is more suitable, then let him marry her. It’s his choice." Lord Draven’s unexpected approval silenced everyone in the hall, and all eyes moved to him. He hardly flinched from their shock-filled eyes and just kept staring at Samantha who found his gaze rather disturbing.

"W-what?" Abdiel turned to Lord Draven who hardly acknowledged his presence, and he repeated again. "If Ivan finds her suitable, he’s allowed to be with her. Who knows, maybe this could settle the silent feud between humans and Vampires, or am I wrong, Viktor?"

He casted a glance at Viktor, but didn’t wait for his response before he began walking forward. When Samantha noticed he was heading towards where she stood, she tried to stand her ground, but then Ivan swiftly pulled her behind him and stood in front of Draven. The hostility in Ivan’s gaze was evident, he hated Draven to the core, and it was unlike him to accept anything he does, whilst his approval only made Ivan grow more suspicious and wary.

"I can smell her blood." Draven softly uttered before darting his crimson-red eyes to the servant. "It’s.... distinct, I have no negative motive, and I’m going to ignore the fact that you just came in my way.... unless, you’re hiding something."

"Take two steps back, or you will hate me." Ivan warned, and this time, Draven noticed the rapid change in his irises, and the sight of it contracting into oval shape had Draven taking a step back, and a subtle frown graced his face.

That look, why does it seem familiar? Thought Draven who wisely retreated at the sight.

"Can we have this discussion tomorrow?" Viktor, who had been quiet all through, finally spoke up. "We’ll need everyone present for the court, and since the Courtier’s aren’t even here, we shall settle this dispute tomorrow. Draven, leave Ivan alone." Viktor ordered Draven who took a step back, and Lucius exchanged knowing glances with Damien before they said.

"We would like to return to the winged Palace, I need to hydrate." Damien uttered, and Tobias stepped forward with Alistair who agreed to take them there.

Once they were gone, Ivan, who felt uncomfortable with Draven’s presence, held Samantha’s uninjured wrist and took her away from the hall. Samantha readily followed him till they made it to his room, and when he closed the door, Samantha immediately wanted to ask what sort of stunt he pulled on her back there, but before she could get the words out, she noticed Ivan was leaning his back against the wall, staring into space with his eyebrows knitted, lips pursed, and his eyes at sea. It was very unusual to see Ivan deeply carried away by his thoughts, unless it was critical, and he appeared to be worried about something.

"W-what happened?" Feeling concerned, Samantha had asked what she felt was more important than the kiss he had stolen from her, and he exhaled softly before answering.

"He agreed." Ivan cryptically noted before glancing at Samantha. "He wasn’t supposed to agree to our union, he never should have agreed. Infact, his disapproval would have been a big win for us ... .but he agreed."

"Who are they?"

"Carefully selected vampires you would hate to mess with, dig up their histories and you won’t come out of it alive." Ivan ran his fingers through his hair. "He wasn’t supposed to accept it, something’s definitely off somewhere, a trick is about to be played on me, and I don’t have a good feeling about Draven."

"That’s his name...?"

Ivan could only nod in response, but he said absolutely nothing. Lord Draven agreeing to their union out of the blue wasn’t the only thing that bothered Ivan, what troubled him more was Lord Draven recognizing his little lamb as the daughter of his Father’s special advisor. After that night he told her to run, Lord Draven was the one who showed up in a Carriage, demanding for the children’s head. Since he wanted all of them dead, he had gotten their descriptions from the neighbors, what they look like, every little detail, but then he had to leave for Vesunard when something urgent concerning his brothers came up, and now he was back here.

If his little Lamb’s identity gets discovered, she would be placed on death trial.
