Chapter 57: 056 Mysterious Visitor
"If I say, I will treat you well, whether or not the request is unreasonable, I will comply. Would you believe it? I don’t even believe it myself." Charlotte’s tone carried a hint of self-mockery. Such things were hard for even her to believe, so how could she deceive Atlas?
"So, you’re saying you won’t treat me well, nor will you listen to me?" Atlas walked behind her, trying to discern what exactly was hidden inside her. What made her so changeable, so stubborn, that she didn’t even bother to lie to him?
"Mr. Hallow, don’t you feel you’re being quite boring? Whether you will treat me well is the type of question women usually ask, isn’t it?" Charlotte couldn’t fathom the deeper meaning in each of Atlas’s words, but now she had to be extremely cautious, because this man could be devilish at times, capable of devouring people completely, leaving not even a bone behind, like last night.
As a woman new to love, the physical torment was becoming unbearable for her, and her understanding of a certain aspect was starting to crumble.
This was clearly one of the world’s most wonderful things, yet he treated it as a tool for punishment, seduction, or conquest.
"If you wish to move out of the Hallow Family’s house, then I promise you, how do you plan to thank me?" Atlas followed her into the cloakroom, watching her unabashedly take off her clothes and change into a shirt and trousers.
Her skin, pure as snow, was covered in the red marks he had left from yesterday, like scattered red petals on an immaculate snowfield. Atlas’s gaze slowly turned from deep understanding to infatuation.
Her body seemed like the most potent poison; once touched, it was hard to quit, only to sink deeper.
He lightly touched the red marks on her shoulder with his fingers, admiringly saying, "In this aspect, you are a perfect woman, one of a kind..."
"That’s a bit exaggerated. I think I’ve read a report where eighty percent of men think that when the lights are off, the physical feeling that women bring to them is not much different." Charlotte fastened the buttons on her shirt, casually grabbing a coat. The weather had indeed turned cold, making trips to and from downtown quite inconvenient, even more so when it snowed.
"The same? That’s because they haven’t had the chance to meet you, Charlotte. I like your tightness..." It was simply like being in heaven. Atlas added in his mind, while his lips slowly curled up, seemingly savoring the wonderful aftertaste of last night.
Charlotte stared blankly at Atlas’s slightly smiling eyes, which, when narrowed sensually, made her face flush instantly. The blush started from her cheeks as if it was about to spread all over her body.
She quickly took her coat and walked out. This man couldn’t be scolded, couldn’t be beaten, and it was obviously not the right time to resist and leave, so what else could she do?
The two sat in the car; perhaps he had exhausted too much energy yesterday, so today even the car was driven by a chauffeur. But it didn’t seem that way. This morning, he still got up early for a run. By the time he finished his nighttime antics, it should have been almost daylight. He hadn’t slept for even two hours before going for a jog; he was indeed inhuman.
As they sat together, Charlotte was somewhat uneasy because her hand was still being held by him, scrutinized with such care as if he were a fortune-teller: "Are you reading my palm?"
"You’re worried about your future. Mrs. Hallow, you’re too burdened with concern. Be careful, or you’ll grow gray hairs." The man’s hand slowly squeezed her hand tightly in his palm, and he closed his eyes to rest.
Up until they reached the president’s office, Atlas hadn’t said anything more. Daniel Parker stood seriously outside the office; upon seeing the elevator doors open, he approached as they stepped out of the elevator: "President Hallow, there’s a guest."
"Go make two cups of coffee and bring them in." Atlas turned to Charlotte and said, preparing to enter the office, when Daniel suddenly spoke up: "I’ll take care of it; Madam has a lot of documents to sort this morning."
Atlas said nothing, entered his office, and suddenly, as the door opened and closed, a fragrance filled the air.
It was very faint, almost non-existent, yet vaguely familiar.
Was today’s guest a woman?
