Chapter 144: 105 of the same kind
Sometimes, even someone like Atlas Hallow starts to believe in destiny. If it hadn’t been for Hailey Hill’s insistence that Freya Morgon’s daughter would surely be well-educated and demure, that the child born from her daughter would be nobler and purer, this marriage wouldn’t have happened.
If he had casually found a surrogate, they wouldn’t even need to meet each other, and there wouldn’t be the subsequent entanglements of love and emotion.
If it had been Luna Miller, it would have been fine. Just implant an embryo into her after putting her to sleep one night, and everything would proceed naturally. With the power of the Hallow Family, the child would naturally belong to him during the divorce. But it was Charlotte Miller who eventually walked into the marriage registry with him.
Everything seemed accidental, yet as if it had been arranged, forcing him to submit to the hand of destiny.
He thought he would never fall for any woman in his life, yet there came a young girl, with features as if painted, intelligent and sharp, who grasped his heart tightly, refusing to let go.
Hailey Hill had realized this, which was why she despairingly contemplated suicide.
He couldn’t bear to allow another man’s child in Charlotte’s belly, even if it was half his. He couldn’t even have a child with another woman. He wanted a child with just the two of them, one hundred percent purebred.
Having a child with another woman would be the greatest insult to Charlotte, even without physical contact; Atlas Hallow could not bring himself to do it.
Because he loved her enough to not bear to see her hurt even a little.
The car arrived at the underground garage of the Hallow Clan Tower. The CEO’s private elevator started going up, and his hand remained tightly entwined with Charlotte’s. All the way, he was contemplating the words of that famous fortune-teller who said, Charlotte would attract many admirers in her life and would marry twice.
If he had started to believe that his encounter with Charlotte was destiny’s plan, then what if destiny planned for her to marry twice?
Of course, this could not happen. If it was, he would have to overturn even the theory of fate.
Inside the Hallow Clan Tower, Ava Walker still arrived at work promptly. She was ever vigilant, preparing everything meticulously, believing only those who are prepared can win in the end. Even now, it’s difficult to get a meeting with Atlas Hallow.
When the phone rang, Ava hesitated on whether to answer or not. After thinking it over, she picked it up.
"Ava, how dare you really let them do it?" The voice on the other end was filled with indignant fury, like a lament from the depth of the Inferno, mingled with choking sobs. Hailey Hill was almost biting her lips to blood before she spoke.
This was supposed to be a charade, but she didn’t anticipate those men would take it seriously and actually do such a terrible thing to her, enough to destroy her life.
"If it doesn’t seem real, how would it fool Brother Hallow? He’s not an idiot. Since you’ve come up with this tactic, you might as well follow through. Did you really think the doctors wouldn’t find out? You are truly too naive..." Ava let out a cold laugh. This really killed two birds with one stone. Ava was foolish enough to believe others would help her; how could there be such luck in this world?
That day, Hailey called saying that even if she committed suicide, it wouldn’t matter because Atlas wasn’t answering her calls anymore. So, they schemed to run away.
But running away had no special significance; it might just make Atlas detest her more. That’s why they devised being violated, hoping to make Atlas feel a bit guilty.
If not for her physical condition, Hailey Hill would never have agreed. But given her situation, whether or not she was violated, Atlas would never touch her again. So, she agreed to partake in the act.
What she could never fathom was that Ava had actually arranged for those men to truly commit the act.
Several men, from the agreed location, dragged her to a filthy little motel and actually started the atrocity.
She understood how dreadful the Inferno could be in that single night. Perhaps even eternal damnation couldn’t compare to the torment of those two hours.
Ava was still talking on the other end, but Hailey hung up. Making this call was indeed useless, but she couldn’t help it.
If someday she could enter the Hallow Family with Atlas and their child, Ava Walker would be the first one out the door.
