Chapter 122: 101 He actually knows nothing_4
"What happened?" As soon as Charlotte Miller uttered this sentence, Ethan Baird immediately sensed something was amiss.
To close down all of the Miller Family’s businesses and move the whole family to the United States? What could have happened to prompt Charlotte to make such a decision?
"Ethan, you know my father is not suited for business, and it’s been lucky that he hasn’t lost everything over the years. They should enjoy their retirement. My sister was in a car accident yesterday; she’s lying in the intensive care unit, unconscious. I want them to have a more relaxed life in the future. This place is terrible—the air is awful, everything is awful..." As she spoke, when no one was around, it seemed tears were about to fall. Actually, the worst part was discovering that she quite liked Atlas Hallow, but this man came with motives and schemes.
Time is an unknown factor. She might continue to guard against him while being attracted to him. If she gives her heart to him and he betrays her, then even if she has to fight to the death, she will leave this man far behind, never to see him again.
"Understood. You can arrange for them to come anytime. I have a house I can sell to you. I’ll find someone to take over the Miller Family’s businesses." Ethan Baird couldn’t help but feel a bit distressed. These are things Charlotte shouldn’t have to handle. Now, he didn’t dare to ask about Atlas Hallow. Making such a sudden decision definitely has something to do with Atlas, but since Charlotte isn’t talking about it now, he didn’t want to ask more.
"Ethan..." On the other end of the phone was a long sigh. Charlotte didn’t know what to say. When he said ’sell,’ he probably meant something like ’half-sell, half-give,’ right?
"I’ll handle the Miller Family’s businesses for you. After deducting the house money, I’ll deposit the rest into your account. Don’t worry, even close brothers need clear accounts. I will definitely take the money." He seemed to hear sobbing on the other end of the phone and quickly hung up to spare Charlotte any embarrassment.
She really cried, tears suddenly and inexplicably began to fall, as if she had so many unspeakable secrets, as if there were so many helpless grievances that she could only swallow one by one without any way out.
"Charlotte, is that you?"
Jack Smith had seen from afar the slim figure sitting outside the intensive care unit, weary and with her long hair draped over her small face. He walked forward and squatted in front of her, asking softly.
It was definitely her. No one else would carry such a scent, have such silky bright hair, or breathe with such a rhythm.
"You’ve come to see my sister, haven’t you?" Charlotte looked up and saw the boy in front of her, wearing a hat, scarf, mask, and large sunglasses, fully armed and tightly covered. But when he squatted down, the ripped jeans he wore immediately gave him away to Charlotte.
Jack Smith’s heart skipped a beat, right at the moment Charlotte looked up at him.
Her watery eyes were dreamlike and entrancing, with a few tears hanging from her long lashes like minute diamonds, piercing into his pale and unbridled soul.
"Yes, she was calling me while she was driving. I was filming out of town, and the call cut off halfway through her sentence. The noise was too loud, so I knew something must have happened. I had my assistant find out, and I came straight here from the airport," Jack Smith stood up and walked to the glass, but he couldn’t see anything. All he could see was the white sheets and those cold instruments.
"Is her situation very serious? How serious is it?" Jack Smith asked quietly as he sat beside Charlotte.
"Splenic rupture, fractured left leg, and some abrasions on her face." Charlotte didn’t know what had happened between Luna Miller and Jack Smith, but this car accident probably had a little something to do with him too.
Looking into Charlotte’s clear eyes, Jack Smith didn’t hide anything. "Before I went to film, I mentioned breaking up with her. Actually, we really are not suitable..."
Jack Smith removed his mask and sighed deeply. "Because of her accident, I don’t want to say anything about her anymore, but she’s really not suitable for me."
Luna Miller’s temper was growing bigger day by day. She wanted to control his life, even wanted to take over his agent’s work. She claimed she could do a lot for him, but those weren’t things he needed.
Luna wasn’t suited for this circle. With such a big temper, how could she manage the work of an agent well? She would end up offending all the advertising clients, and besides, he didn’t want her by his side all the time; it was too exhausting.
