Breaking Free, Loving Again -The Flash Marriage with Mr. CEO -
Chapter 611: It should have never meant anything more than a simple obligation.
Chapter 611: It should have never meant anything more than a simple obligation.
Thinking for a moment, Delyth spoke again. "Ryan, I know I deserve punishment for everything that I did. But can you just let me go this one time? I promise I won’t repeat anything from the past. I won’t disturb Arwen. I just want to start afresh here —build back everything that I have lost. Especially my career."
Ryan glanced at her. His gaze was hard to read, but she thought she melted him enough to make him agree.
But still, to make sure that he couldn’t refuse, she added, "Give me one chance to reform, Ryan. For Zeke. He was your friend, and I am his only sister left in this world. Don’t be so cruel to me." her hand slowly reached to hold his, tugging it gently to win his favour. "Please ..."
However, just when she thought Ryan would give in, he pulled his hand from her in one harsh tug before reaching to take a napkin.
Delyth was taken aback. Her throat felt constricted, and she looked at him with an anxious gaze. "Ryan —"
"I told you this even the last time, Delyth," he cut her off without any hint of care. "Don’t try to use the same trick on me again." His gaze turned towards her, sharp and full of disdain. "Zeke was my friend, and he would always be. I have done enough for you on that accord, but don’t push the limit anymore. You have used up all the grace he earned. Now, nothing remains that could save you in this world. So ..."
He didn’t complete his words. He didn’t need to. Delyth understood it even without him completing it.
She stared at Ryan, but he simply pushed the chair to stand up. Then, turning to Zenith, he said, "Why are you still waiting here? Didn’t I ask you to keep the dishes in the sink and return to your room to rest?"
Zenith found it hard to react quickly, but soon she did. Giving a quick nod, she was about to move and walk past him, but he held her back by her arm, his hold gently but firmly on her. "Wait!"
She turned to look at him, unknowingly blinking her doe eyes at him.
For a moment, Ryan felt caught in those simple but alluring pairs. But the next second, he realized something and cleared his throat to say, "You don’t need to go anymore." He looked down at her hand that held the plate. "Give it to me, I will take them with mine."
Zenith quickly shook her head, refusing him without any delay. "That won’t be good, sir. I can take them myself."
"I am going there to keep mine, Zenith. Taking one plate more with me won’t break my hands."
She blinked but then shook her head again. "Then, I can take yours with mine. You, anyway, did the scrambled eggs for me. I can do this."
Her reason was legit, and Ryan didn’t find a way to refuse her. Hence, in the end, he nodded.
She took his plates and then looked at Delyth. Although she didn’t seem to be having the food, her plate was still relatively filled. Taking her plate or even asking for it wasn’t the right choice. So, Zenith simply chose not to.
As she left, Delyth looked up at Ryan’s back. "Why?" she questioned, making him frown a little.
With the creases between his brows, he turned to glance back at her. He didn’t ask what she meant; he simply stared at her.
Delyth scoffed a little before she pushed her chair and stood up. "Why are you doing this to me? Just to me?"She then turned and pointed her finger at Zenith, who was just behind her, on her way out of the kitchen space. "How is she any better than me? Is she like Arwen?"
She shook her head and laughed. "No, she isn’t. Yet you treat her better than you are treating me. Why? Why, Ryan? Why are you doing this?" She took a step forward and grabbed his arm, shaking it in desperation to get an answer. "Why? Can’t you see well that what I have done is just to have you for myself? I love you, Ryan. I have loved you ... always. Why can’t you see it and reciprocate my feelings?"
Zenith wanted to say that her presence there was getting misunderstood, but butting in the conversation between the two didn’t feel right. So, she didn’t step in; rather turned and left instead.
"Your pretension won’t change a thing," Ryan said, his words came very calm and composed. His eyes found hers, and he repeated, "You are leaving the country, and that’s final, Delyth."
He shrugged off her hold and then stepped a step back to make way for her. "You wanted to stay for dinner. I allowed you. But this was last. Don’t show up the next time. I might not be patient again."
And with that, he gestured her towards the door.
Delyth’s jaws clenched. She watched him, but then stormed out, embarrassed to the core.
Once she was gone, Ryan took a deep breath. Although he pretended to stay calm in the face of her, Delyth has become nothing but the remembrance of all his regrets.
He was sending away not just for Arwen. He was sending her away for himself. He couldn’t bear to see her around anymore. She reminds him of nothing but the big failure he had become over a promise that should have never meant anything more than a simple obligation —paid by money and a few extra resources.

While back at Winslow Residence,
Arwen and Aiden were finally descending down the stairs, heading to the dining room, when a ringtone halted them.
Arwen turned to give a look to Aiden, who pulled out his phone to check. Seeing the number flashing on the screen, he said, "I need to take this. You head first, and I will be there in a moment."
She nodded to him. "Okay, come soon then. We will start once you are there." She then turned to walk away.
He watched her for a short moment before finally picking the call to answer.
