Bound To The Ice Dragon King -
Chapter 84: Make a choice
Chapter 84: Make a choice
As the sun neared the horizon, Rhea and Draven followed Valen out of the establishment. Instead of taking a carriage, they chose to stroll through the streets. When they reached the market place, it was teeming with people and merchants eagerly selling their goods.
Walking beside Draven, Rhea moved to walk alongside Valen and called out to him, "My lord?"
Valen casually turned his alluring hazel eyes towards her and hummed, "Hm?" he asked. "What’s the matter? Is there something in the market that has caught your attention? If you see anything you like, just let me know, and it’s yours." He flashed her a charming smile, revealing his impeccable set of white teeth.
Hell be damned! He really knows how to win over a woman’s heart! Those words would be pleasant to any woman. However, she couldn’t be tempted to spend his money, as she had no such interest in him. She stopped herself from looking around the market, and resist the urge of shamelessly pointing at what she desired to buy. Instead, she cleared her throat and said,
"Thanks for you nice offer, but I’m fine. I just wanted to ask, why did you save Draven and I?" And even secretly protected her from Lord Edmund’s interrogation.
Valen tilted his head to the side and softly said, "The reason is because you are a beautiful woman, and when I encounter attractive ladies, I find it impossible to divert my gaze. I couldn’t resist, so I ensured your safety." He then shifted his gaze towards Draven and added, "Regarding this man, it was not intentional. If he hadn’t been accompanying you, I wouldn’t have even spared him a glance."
Draven, "...!"
Seeing Draven’s darkened expression, Valen chuckled softly, then said, "Relax man, I was joking. I saved you because Aria wanted me to protect her friends from my father, so I had to fulfil her request."
Rhea made an "Oh," sound. It turned out he saved them because Aria had told him to. Perhaps he wasn’t as bad as she’d thought, and he cared for Aria. Does this mean he really liked Aria to the point of risking his life for her friends?
Just as those thoughts were playing in Rhea’s mind, Valen just had to open his mouth and spoil everything again. He uttered, "Even if Aria never requested my assistance, I would have gladly rescued a stunning lady like yourself. And now that I have saved you, I expect compensation." He inched closer to her and whispered, "So, Miss Rhea, are you willing to settle the debt tonight?"
Rhea’s eyes widened as she grasped the implication of his words. "You...you don’t mean... I have to pay you with my body?!"
"Exactly!" He clapped his hands, "So are you willing? We can get a room at The Den Of Pleasure tonight, what do you think?" He mischievously wiggled his eyebrows.
Rhea abruptly stopped walking and began to slowly move backwards, positioning herself next to Draven. "I am not willing," she stated awkwardly. "My heart already belongs to this man," she added, grabbing Draven’s arm and linking it with hers before embracing it against her chest.
Draven was taken aback. He was still unsure how to react to Rhea’s straightforward and bold manners. Furthermore, she held onto his arm so tightly that he could feel the softness of her chest against it. He quickly withdrew his arm from hers.
Valen, who noticed his quick withdrawal sighed. He then looked at Rhea and clicked his tongue, "Tch, you look so pitiful. This man doesn’t seem like he likes you, he can’t even allow you to hold his arm. If you give yourself to me, I will spoil you rotten and give you whatever you desire; clothes, jewelry, gold, money, everything will be yours. So make your choice."
Rhea’s eyes widened at the mention of gold and money. This man was truly unique, as he appeared to engage with women in every aspect of his life. For him, it was as effortless and natural as eating and drinking. However, despite the tempting offer, she wasn’t desperate enough to exchange her body for mere gold and jewelry with a Casanova.
"No, I don’t desire anything from you. Although you are attractive and wealthy, you cannot compare to this cold expression," she gestured towards Draven’s face, "He may seem ordinary to you now, but given more time to acquire his powers, he will surpass all the men in the world."
Although Rhea was only saying these words to get Valen off that topic, but she truly meant her words. When Draven was posing as Jurian, he was already the most attractive man she had ever laid eyes on. The stress he had endured these days had dulled his appearance, but she knew that once he regained his true form, not even Valen could compare to him.
Valen chuckled with amusement as he looked Draven up and down, saying, "You have no idea, Miss Rhea. No offense, but do you really believe this person is more charming than I am? Just look at his emotionless expression and cold demeanor, then look at me. I’m certain you would change your preference."
While the two argued, Draven remained silent, though he felt a strong urge to punch Valen’s supposedly handsome face for some reasons.
Rhea glanced at Draven and then back at Valen, before saying, "Well, if it’s about looks, I prefer Draven’s appearance, but if it’s about personality, I would choose yours. I like your..."
Before Rhea could finish her sentence, Draven interrupted, unable to tolerate it any longer. "Weren’t we supposed to discuss the dragons you were given? Why are you leading us through the market?" he asked, positioning himself between the two.
Valen noticed as Draven had position himself between them, completely blocking Rhea from his view like a barrier, he smiled faintly then said,"That’s not something to worry about, I’ve ordered some people to bring the dragons to The Den Of Pleasure tonight, they’re all just some little dragon children. I’ll keep them there until I know it’s safe to escort them back to the borders of their realm."
Rhea, who was now blocked by Draven’s wide frame, tilted her head to catch a glimpse of Valen. "My Lord," she called to gain his attention, then spoke, "You are aware that by setting them free instead of killing them as you said could get you in trouble, yet you still wish to assist them. Why?"
Valen grinned, "Because I’m in the mood to go against someone who has wronged me in the past, you needn’t worry about me. There’s a reason behind my actions."
Rhea and Draven exchanged glances, but they decided not to push the topic further since Valen didn’t seem willing to share the reasons behind his plan to release the dragons. They continued walking in silence until Rhea spoke up again. "My Lord, before you send the dragons back to their home, there’s a dragon boy named Aedan that I would like to meet. If you don’t mind, I would like to have a conversation with him."
Valen nodded in agreement. "No problem, once they are brought to The Den Of Pleasure, you can do whatever you want with them, as long as you don’t harm any of them."
Rhea nodded back, a faint smile appearing on her face. Finally, she would feel relieved knowing that the children were safe and Aedan was no longer in trouble. The only thing left would be to get Draven’s powers back to help ease his troubled mind as well. That way, he would also upgrade from a mere human.
