Bound To The Ice Dragon King
Chapter 59: Alina!!

Chapter 59: Alina!!

Rhea glanced towards Draven, but seeing his usual emotionless demeanor, she could tell he hadn’t heard anything the ghost had been saying. She rubbed her temple in distress.

"You mean all those little children were captured for this reason?"

"Yes, the elixir has been used among the human race. They use it to maintain their youthful looks, they sell it out for a huge amount of gold to the imperial nobles who aren’t immortal. People from several countries are practically tripping over each other to get their hands on the elixir. It is now in high demand in the capital, everyone wants to have one, and little dragons are going through hell in their hands." The ghost murmured as her fingers tightened, almost ripping the ghostly skin on her face.

Rhea blinked in disbelief. "Are you sure about this? I have lived in the capital all my life, but I’ve never heard of anything like this before." Rhea mused, her voice barely above a whisper, as she was finding it heard to believe all this information.

"I am not wrong. I’ve seen it myself and experienced it. I was killed and my essence was taken right on the spot by the fire controllers. And that evil Oriana...she has dozens of the elixirs stored in her residence!"

Rhea just simply stared at the ghost with her jaw slacked in disbelief.

Johanna continued speaking. "Before the fire controllers attack any dragon, they cast a powerful spell to prevent them from transforming into their dragon form or using their powers. That’s why all the dragons are now hiding from humans. The fire controllers are using some sort of powers to convert the essence into an elixir." As Johanna spoke, she became increasingly agitated. The dark mist surrounding her intensified, her hair began to blow, and her eyes grew even darker. She fixed her gaze on Rhea and angrily exclaimed,

"Every elixir is a life of a dragon. It contains our lives, our children, our families. They take our lives and use them to prolong their own. And yet, they label us as evil. Humans are going too far, they are incredibly cruel and evil, proudly displaying how they have stolen our lives. They are the most malevolent creatures on Earth. And you, you are no different. You couldn’t save my son!"

The ghost’s black nails rapidly lengthened. "I will ensure that every human on Earth joins me in hell. Starting with you!" Her voice was icy cold. It seemed as though she was losing control once again.

Trembling with fear, Rhea urgently cried out, "Draven, get me away from here now!"

Without hesitation, Draven sprang into action. His strong arms reached out, grasping Rhea’s trembling hands. With a sudden jerk, he yanked her backward, her feet stumbling against loose stones on the ground. But as soon as Draven’s grip tightened, the ghost let out an agonizing wail that pierced through the sky, shattering the silence and rattling the trees nearby before she vanished into thin air, leaving only swirling dust in her wake.

The dust spiraled through the air, creating a suffocating cloud that engulfed the atmosphere. Rhea’s grip on Draven tightened, her nails digging into his arm as she buried her head in his chest to avoid the suffocating dust.

Draven swiftly turned around, using his coat as a shield to protect Rhea’s face from the swirling dust. Without even realizing it he enveloped her slender body in his embrace, burying her head protectively inside his coat. His strong presence provided a sense of security amidst the chaos, his arms offering solace to her slightly trembling body.

It took awhile before the swirling dust finally settled back on the earth. After awhile, Draven looked downwards at the slightly shocked Rhea. He then asked, "Did she say anything that scared you?"

Upon hearing his question, Rhea slowly moved her head away from his coat and whispered absentmindedly, "She has transformed into a vengeful spirit. Let’s return to the inn."

After uttering those words, Rhea proceeded forward, with Draven silently trailing behind her. Although he was curious about what Rhea had discussed with the ghost, he refrained from asking, understanding how deeply affected she was by whatever the ghost had revealed.

In reality, Rhea was still in shock from what she had discovered. She couldn’t bring herself to believe what she had just heard, or rather, she didn’t want to accept its truth. The fact that the entire group of fire controllers and Birhhan nobles were involved in such illicit activities underground was incomprehensible. The idea that her uncle, the Emperor, would allow such practices, and that Azure was also implicated, was unfathomable.

How could he and the people of Birhhan tolerate such heartless and brutal operations taking place right under their noses? Had she been mistaken about Azure all these years, or had he gradually changed over time?

The scorching midday sun beat down on the bustling streets, as merchants on the sidelines called out to passersby to visit their stalls. However, Rhea was completely oblivious to the heat and the merchants’ calls. All she felt was an icy chill running through her body.

Draven noticed Rhea’s lost expression but chose to remain silent, walking beside her. They remained in silence until they reached the inn. Rhea quietly sat on the edge of the bed for over thirty minutes, then suddenly pulled at her hair in frustration. "Damn it, I need to rescue Aedan and investigate this situation in the capital myself. I have to go back and find out who is behind all of this!"

Rhea looked up at Draven, who gave her a questioning glance as he was unaware of what she was referring to. "There’s something you should know," Rhea began, recounting everything the ghost had told her about the dragons.

Draven’s eyes turned cold, and the temperature seemed to drop. Angry veins protruded from his forehead. "Alina!" he muttered through clenched teeth. He didn’t need to investigate to know that she was the mastermind behind such a cruel operation. Since she had discovered the legendary dragon book in the dragon realm, she must have been using it as a guide to create such elixirs.

Rhea glanced at Draven and noticed that he had completely packed their belongings in the room. "We must commence our journey to the capital today."

"Do you also desire to bear the responsibility of your people, to save them?" Rhea inquired.

Draven looked at her sideways. "Yes, but more importantly, I must reclaim what was once mine."

Rhea furrowed her brows in confusion. "What is that?" she asked.

"You mentioned that the ghost informed you the fire controllers were utilizing some form of power to transform their essences into elixirs," Draven’s blue eyes darkened. "Only my dragon powers could accomplish such a feat with another dragon’s essence. There is no other magical item capable of doing so, only my powers."

Every single detail regarding this matter was recorded in the dragon legend. A mighty dragon’s ability can purify a lesser dragon’s essence within a human body. And if the fire controllers were truly exploiting his powers for their wicked deeds, chaos would soon ensue in Birhhan. This world would be plunged into utter turmoil.

And soon enough, Alina would be the cause of the downfall of the human race. He would make sure of it!!
