Chapter 225: Hundreds of unspoken words
Chapter 225: Hundreds of unspoken words
Draven didn’t wake up until after three days. When he woke up from his three days of sleep, he felt strangely refreshed. Something was wrong with his body, but he couldn’t tell what was wrong. He didn’t feel as exhausted as he used to feel since the day he’d put the serpent core in his body. However, since he couldn’t pinpoint the changes in him, he didn’t think much of it and got up to go and start his usual practice in the forest.
But then he was surprised to see that he hadn’t woken up in their room, he was in the guests room. Again, he didn’t think anything to be strange about waking up in the guest room as he saw a memory of himself sleeping in the room last night after his return from the forest.
Draven walked outside the room that was downstairs, and he was immediately met with Prince Ethan, who was making his way towards the guests room.
"Good afternoon, Draven. Um, my father asked me to give you this," said prince Ethan as he handed Draven a small bottle of elixir while explaining, "He said it would help you mend with the serpent core without having any problem."
Draven took the little bottle,"Send my thanks to him." He said while wondering why the king would send him an elixir. However, he didn’t dwell much on it as he thought king Henry must have sent it to help him mend with the core before the time he would face Erebus.
After Ethan watch Draven walked out of the house, he made his way back upstairs towards Rhea’s room.
"Why did you send me to lie to your husband by giving him the elixir you gave me in the name of the king? What’s the elixir for?" Ethan asked immediately he entered the room.
"Just something to help him..." She murmured. She had requested the medicine from the king, it wasn’t anything big but a pain killer medicine, she had asked Ethan to tell him that it would help him mend with the serpent core so that when he would finally notice the strong changes in his body, he would think that the elixir was working.
"Something to help him? Then why didn’t you give it to him yourself?" He asked suspiciously. But seeing how pale and unhealthy Rhea looked while laying on the bed, he didn’t wait for her to reply before frowning in distress, "What’s wrong with you? You look sick. Just two days ago you looked alright, but now..." He trailed off as he took in her appearance.
Rhea was laying on the bed with thick blankets covering her entire body, only her head was visible. Her face looked pale with dark circles under her eyes.
"I’m fine as long as I don’t appear sick to Draven." She murmured, her voice sounding weak.
Ethan’s frown deepened at how weak her voice sounded. "Is there something you’re not telling me, Rhea? What’s wrong with_"
"Shut your mouth, prideful prince!" Lilac jumped out from the side and faced the prince, who didn’t know not to disturb her savior who was suffering from morning sickness and also suffering from her body system that was now slowly failing because of the core that was removed.
"My savior is going through a lot already but yet you keep disturbing her peaceful sleep with your questioning. No matter how weak she looks now, you must not dare tell Mister about it or even bring it up in his presence about how she looks now." Lilac said, her tiny voice filled with emotions.
Ethan was taken aback by the fairy’s tear filled eyes, "What’s wrong with her, and why shouldn’t Draven know about it?" He asked in confusion. As he didn’t know about the core issue.
Lilac stomped her feet in annoyance as he wasn’t going to stop asking questions until he knew what was going on with Rhea. "Fine, Myself will tell you, but first promise you will never tell Draven about this?"
"Tell me about what?" Came Draven’s voice from the entrance.
Lilac paled at his sudden appearance in the room. She looked at him trying hard to hide her panic as she met his questioning expression. She wasn’t sure how much he’d heard from their conversation. But just as she was thinking of what to do, Rhea’s voice spoke from behind.
"Draven?" She softly called out to him, and when Draven turned his gaze away from Lilac and looked towards his wife, Lilac and Ethan used the opportunity to flee the room.
Draven walked towards the bed and saw his wife laying down. She held up her hands for him to pull her up. Though he found it strange that Rhea was reaching out for him to pull her up from bed, he didn’t question it as he was always happy to be of help to her. He took her hands and pulled her to a sitting position.
Even though Rhea looked pale and sick, Draven didn’t notice it because of the seal cast on him. To him, she still looked as the same as the last time he’d seen her. She was still beautiful with flushed cheeks. He leaned down and pecked her lips before saying, "It’s already afternoon, why did you sleep for so long today?" He asked, knowing his wife was an early morning person.
Rhea managed a smile, "I was having a beautiful dream about you, so I didn’t want to wake up from it."
Draven chuckled as he crouched down to help her wear her house shoes and said, "I’m always here with you and you can see me when you’re awake, you don’t have to only see me in your dreams." He put on the shoe on her right leg and couldn’t help but admire how beautiful his wife’s feet were.
Rhea looked down at his head as he was crouching down in front of her. She then ran her fingers into his black thick hair locks and replied, "It’s different in my dreams..."
"What makes it different?" He looked up at her with a slight frown.
She stroked his cheeks, "The Draven in my dreams is different because he has already defeated Erebus’and has gotten powerful, he was living in bliss with nothing to worry about. He soared across the world and is praised by all the people. He has no burden."
Draven finished putting on her shoes for her and picked up her robe from the couch as he listened to her words, he then turned back and helped her into the robe while asking, "And where is my wife while I was soaring across the world and living in bliss?"
"Me?"
"Of course, who else? Where are you?" He laughed. He didn’t care about anything he was doing as long as she was in his life. She was the only reason he was going through all the trouble of doing his best to mend with the serpent core.
At his question, Rhea felt like a thousand sharp needles were pricking her heart. It hurt so much she wanted to cry but she couldn’t. It hurt so much she wished she had never known who this wonderful man was in this lifetime. She glanced at him and noticed that he was actually waiting for her answer with a smile.
Rhea suppressed the hurtful feeling in her heart and forced a smile. She then leaned up and pointed her finger at his chest. "By that time," she looked into his eyes with a bitter smile, "I would be right in there."
Draven held her hand against his left chest side, with his deep smooth voice, he whispered, "You were already in there long ago, and you will always be in my heart."
Rhea’s lips pulled up into a smile, despite the cold she was feeling in her body, her heart warmed up by his words. She then used the opportunity to pull him down to the bed, and he allowed himself fall on the bed with her laying onto of his body. She craned her head to look into his blue eyes, "Lord El-Dezeus’ mouth is filled with sweet heartwarming words that would make a lady’s toe curl up in excitement." She whispered humorously while tracing her finger around his lips.
Draven caught hold of her hand and smiled up at her face. His voice was slightly husky as he said, "Would the lady be delighted to taste the sweet mouth of this poor Lord El-Dezeus?"
Rhea nodded with a soft smile, "Yes, if Lord El-Dezeus would allow this lady to have a taste of his sweet mouth."
"My pleasure." Saying this, Draven’s hand went around her nape and gently brought her head down before he closed his lips against hers. It was a gentle kiss, filled with warmth and love. His tongue gently parted her lips, and with a slow caressing movement, he skilfully moved his lips and tongue against hers.
The kiss was different from all of the ones they’d shared before. For Draven, it was loving and he couldn’t have enough of his wife, but for Rhea, it was a bittersweet experience, because her heart was filled with hundreds of unspoken words that she couldn’t say to him. Those unspoken words were killing her with every each seconds that ticked by; she wanted to tell him how much she loved him, she wanted to tell him she was carrying his baby. She wanted to ask for his forgiveness for how she would be the cause of his second heartbreak...
