Chapter 222: Make love on the balcony
"We have to sacrifice our life for the world..." She smiled down at her flat stomach.
"Who are you talking to?"
Rhea swirled around at the voice of Draven. She hadn’t noticed him when he entered, or to be more specific, she hadn’t known he had returned. He didn’t just come in, he had been in the bathing room. His black hair was still dripping with water, and he had a robe on. However, Rhea noticed that he looked much better than earlier, his eyes had returned to blue but had a hint of red in them.
Rhea hurriedly withdrew her hand from her stomach, hoping that he hadn’t caught what she had just mumbled. Thankfully, it seemed that he hadn’t heard her words but had only noticed her speaking.
"When I got out of the bath, I heard you muttering to yourself. What were you saying?" He inquired, making his way towards her while drying his damp hair.
Rhea quickly composed herself and said, "Nothing important. I was just admiring the portrait on the wall and remembering what you said about having another one in the future with our little ones." She managed to flashed him a convincing sincere smile.
Draven stood beside her and also gazed at the portrait with a faint smile, "You look like an angel in that purple wedding gown." He murmured softly.
Rhea gazed at his side profile as he stared at the portrait warmly. She couldn’t help but admire his unblemished handsome face. Despite the hardships he’d gone through today, he still looked as handsome as ever, the only thing that gave away his weariness, was the dark circles around his eyes.
"Why are you staring?" Draven asked playfully as he turned to her. Rhea blushed in embarrassment for being caught staring, but when she met his eyes, he held her gaze.
Draven’s gaze softened as he looked into Rhea’s eyes, a silent exchange of affection passing between them. She then cleared her throat and asked, "Have you finished your practice?"
When she inquired about his practice, a subtle shadow crossed his face, showing his reluctance to delve into that topic of his pain.
Without saying a word, he gently took her hand and led her to the balcony. They settled on the bed swing, which Draven had recently placed on the balcony on Rhea’s request few weeks ago.
The cool night air wrapped around them as Draven tenderly wrapped his arm around Rhea’s shoulder, pulling closer. She leaned her head on his shoulder, and together, they gazed at the distant city lights and the intricate silhouette of the palace roof under the moonlit sky.
The snowflakes continued their dance, creating a serene backdrop to the intimate moment. The silence between them spoke volumes, each snowflake a whispered promise.
As they sat in each other’s company silently watching the snowflakes, Draven suddenly changed their position and laid down on the bed swing bring her down with him. Rhea felt a heavy ache in her heart as she placed her head against his chest, and wrapped an arm around his midriff.
"Draven, do you want to hear a poetic story about two lovers?" she asked, her voice carrying a melancholic tone.
Draven nodded. "Yes. I’d love to." He murmured while subconsciously running his hand up and down her spine.
They lay close on the bed swing, the cold wind hitting them as Rhea began her tale.
"There once was a love, deep and true, between two souls destined to be apart. A love that flourished in the shadows, hidden from the world. Their hearts beat as one, yet fate had woven a cruel tale. Their love was a ’you live, I die’ kind of story."
Draven furrowed his brow, curiousity etching his features. "What happened to them?"
Rhea sighed, her eyes distant. "They could never be together in the living world. It was a tragic dance of proximity and separation. One could only exist when the other was gone..."
Draven’s gaze never wavered. "How did they cope with such a fate?"
A bitter smile touched Rhea’s lips. "They cherished stolen moments, stolen glances. Their love was like a haunting melody, beautiful but always tinged with the impending silence of goodbye."
Draven’s hand found hers, a gesture of solidarity. "That’s heartbreaking, where did you hear the poetic story from?"
Tears welled up in Rhea’s eyes as she said, "I heard it from strangers in Birhhan." She lied, then continued, "They dreamed of a life where they could walk hand in hand, under the warmth of the sun. But every dream shattered with the dawn, as the sun rose to claim its territory. The woman had to give up her own life to let her lover live."
Draven frowned as he felt wetness on his chest, he leaned his head down, "Are you crying, my love?" He was about to sit up but she pressed down on his chest to keep him down. She smiled, "I’m crying because I think sometimes fate can be so cruel. I’m crying because I feel sorry for those two lovers. I can’t help but try to put myself in her shoes, I..."
Draven gently wiped away a tear from Rhea’s cheek. "I’m here, Rhea. You don’t have to try to put yourself in her shoes because our story will never end like them."
Rhea nodded, a mix of sorrow and gratitude in her gaze. "I know. I just needed you to understand the pain of a love that never got its chance."
They swayed in silence on the balcony swing. Rhea swallowed the huge lump in her throat as she tried to stop herself from crying, or giving away her intentions to Draven. She was now more determined and certain on what she had to do, but before doing so, she must never give herself away.
"Are you all right, Rhea?" Draven asked his wife as he sensed the strange air around her tonight. However, before he could dwell on anything, Rhea had leaned up and pressed her lips delicately against his. The kiss started as a tender, teasing, where her soft lips just teased him by licking his lips. However, that teasing gesture made desire rush into his veins.
Draven didn’t know when he flipped her over and deepened the kiss. It was a hungry demanding, possessive kiss that took both their minds and breath away.
Rhea, who had finally managed to distract her husband from venturing into the topic of her strange behavior, kissed him back with the same intensity. She parted her lips, and he responded immediately by plunging his tongue into her mouth, he stroked, explored her mouth. She didn’t even realize when her dress came off until she felt his hand cupping her bare breast.
She smothered a moan when his wet mouth suck and nibbled her harden nipple. He skilfully discarded both their clothes and flung them away, not caring where they landed.
"Are you comfortable with us doing it out here?" He asked breathlessly, his gaze were already hazy with desires.
Rhea nodded with teary eyes, she didn’t care where they did it as long as he could make love to her. She wanted to forget about the worries and burden crashing at her heart and soul.
When Draven didn’t move to continue, and only stared at her face as if searching for something, Rhea craned her head upwards and pressed her lips against his. He didn’t return the kiss at first until she managed to part his lips with her tongue and slid it into his mouth. She then traced her hand down to his aroused shaft, she clasped her fingers around the hot throbbing hardness. He immediately responded with a low throaty groan as he positioned himself between her parted legs.
The hard length of him filled her completely, while his hands pulled her hips even higher, adjusting the fit with meticulous care. Once inside her, he began to move slowly until Rhea urged him. He did as she said and thrust hard and fast inside her. Every part of her being was focused on the place where he joined her. The bed swing rocked back and forth with his thrust and Rhea clutched tightly to his neck.
Breathing hard, he hung over her until his arms trembled. Collapsing onto his side, he kept her with him on the bed swing, still enclosed in the depths of her body. They lay on the swing with their body interlocked. The wind continued to whistle in the background, carrying with it the deep love shared between the couples.
A long time passed before Draven whispered softly. "Thank you for loving me, Rheanna. Thank you for staying by my side. I love you."
At those words, tears pulled up in Rhea’s eyes. She blinked repeatedly to stop them from falling. She was going to make a decision that would crashed him forever. He had given her his heart and trusted her to live with him forever, but she was going to shatter that to save him. Rhea hated the helplessness she felt, she hated the decision of having to give away her life along with their child, but it would be selfish of her if she didn’t give it away.
The world would crumble along with Draven if she followed her heart. Therefore, she must not follow her heart but her instincts.
"I love you even more, always remember that." She murmured softly against his chest.
