Bound To The Ice Dragon King -
Chapter 205: I’m going with you
Chapter 205: I’m going with you
After leaving the theater, Rhea held onto Draven, still moved by the powerful performance. "That was amazing," she said, her voice filled with emotion. "I’ve never felt so connected to a story before."
Draven smiled, understanding how much the play meant to her. "There has been a lot of tragic love stories between the humans and dragons, so the actors did their best in making the performance realistic and emotional." he said, leading her through the bright corridors of the theater.
As Rhea and Draven walked hand in hand back into the bustling streets of the city, the emotions from the story lingered within her. It seemed absurd, but she felt her love for Draven grow stronger after witnessing that drama. The thought of losing him was unimaginable, but if such a situation ever arose, she would not hesitate to sacrifice her own life for him.
Even as they returned to their home, after Draven had taken her to various places and showered her with countless gifts, Rhea could still sense the lingering emotions from the show. It reminded her of her concerns about her husband and his words about being busy from tomorrow onwards. She couldn’t help but wonder what sort of thing he would be doing.
Currently, Rhea stood behind Draven as he sat in front of the mirror, she had requested to comb his hair for him when he came out of the bathing room.
Rhea’s fingers gently gliding through the strands of his long, ebony hair as Draven read through a parchment paper he had brought back with him from the palace. The room was bathed in a soft, milky glow from the dimly lit chandelier.
Rhea’s mind was overwhelmed by her troubled thoughts, she tried not to show it but her reflection in the mirror betrayed the turmoil within. With each stroke of the comb, her movements became absent-minded.
Draven, sensing the shift in his wife’s demeanor, looked away from the paper and caught her gaze in the mirror. His strong hand reached back, surprising her as he gently pulled her onto his lap. Startled, Rhea found herself enveloped in the protective circle of his arms.
Draven’s piercing blue eyes met hers, searching for the source of her troubled mind. With a gentle concern in his voice, he asked, "What troubles you, my love?"
"You are troubling me," she admitted, "you are not telling me something. What did you talk about with the king and what will you be doing tomorrow_"
Before she could complete her words, a low groan tore from his chest, and he smothered her mouth with his. Devouring her lips like a starved beast clutching to his last source of food. He crushed her melting, pliant body to his rigid, hungry body. And as if he couldn’t take it anymore, he pushed away from the chair and carried her to the bed.
He kissed her fiercely, possessively, tenderly, and still he could not get enough of her. At last he dragged his mouth from hers, breathing heavily, he said, "I want to make love to you,"
Rhea, who was as desperate as he was, didn’t protest as he began to find his ways with her dress. Her worries, and the questions she had wanted to ask him, all flew out from the window immediately.
Draven bent his head and kissed her, while he tore her dress open as he couldn’t seem to take it off. His gaze drifted downward, riveting on the enticing body bared before him. Exquisite breasts, round and full, tipped with pink nipples hardened into tight-buds of desire, quivered beneath his gaze; her skin was as smooth as cream, glowing under the light like an untouched new-fallen snow.
"You are beautiful." He whispered softly before trailing kisses around her body.
Rhea was completely lost in the sea of pleasure that she forgot about all the worries that had been swelling in her mind. Her husband gave her no chance to even think properly for a second, he made love to her again and again until she couldn’t keep her eyes open and fell into a deep sleep in his arms.
The next morning, the room was bathed with the natural light that floated throw the curtains. Rhea stirred in her sleep, her eyes fluttered open and a soft smile played on her lips as she savored the warmth that lingered from the passionate night she shared with her husband. But as her gaze moved to the space beside her, her smile faltered, replaced by a frown.
The sheets seemed undisturbed as if Draven had been up way earlier before morning. Her eyes darted around the room and fell onto the bedside table, where a note laid. She sat up clutching the sheet to her chest as she reached for the note, which had Draven’s unmistakable handwriting.
Rhea’s fingers traced the words, absorbing the message that left an uneasy knot in her stomach. The note reads; [I’m sorry I had to leave early, I couldn’t find it in my heart to wake you up. Don’t worry about me or what I’m doing, I will be home before evening. And make sure you eat properly. I love you.]
Draven was up to something and he didn’t want her to know what, Rhea thought. A cloud of worry settled over her as she pondered on what he was doing. Why couldn’t he tell her the nature of the situation? How could she not worry when he was hiding things from her?
The weight of the uncertainty prompted Rhea to take matters into her own hands. With determination, she rolled out of bed and decided she would take a bath and go to the palace herself. She would ask king Henry what was going on.
Rhea took a bath and quickly picked any dress. After she was done and was about to walk out of their room, Lilac’s urgent voice echoed through the halls, drawing her attention.
Descending the staircase, she saw Lilac, panting as though she had raced against time. Rhea’s frown deepened, "What’s wrong, Lilac?" Her voice carried a hint of concern as she awaited an explanation from the panting young lady.
Lilac finally spoke, "My savior, myself run here to tell you that Mister is going to Birhhan alone to do something, which myself doesn’t know of and_my savior, where are you going!"
Rhea didn’t wait for Lilac to finish speaking before she ran out of the house and headed straight to the palace, where she found Draven walking out of the palace with prince Zachary.
When Draven spotted her dashing into the palace grounds, a concerned frown etched between his refined eyebrows. "Why are you here?" he queried, striding towards her, "You must return home; it’s not the right time for you to visit the palace. You_"
"Enough," she interjected firmly, "I know you’re going to Birhhan, Draven, and there’s nothing you can say or do to prevent me from accompanying you."
Draven’s frown deepened, and without hesitation, he grasped her hand, "I will escort you back home; you’re not going anywhere with me." He began pulling her towards the gates, but Rhea swiftly jerked her hand back.
"I’m not a child, Draven. We’ve faced dangers together before; our marital status doesn’t change the fact that we’ll continue to work together as_"
"It changes everything," he interrupted, his voice tinged with anger but kept at a controlled volume, "You’re my wife, and it’s my duty to shield you from harm, not involve you in it. You will return home and do as I say; you will not come with me."
Rhea clenched her fists at her sides and, with a defiant gaze, met his eyes, "You don’t have authority over me. You can’t command me to do as you please; I will accompany you wherever you’re going."
Draven ran his hand through his hair in frustration. Angry veins pulsed on his forehead, but he attempted to rein it in, aware of Rhea’s stubbornness. Instead of raising his voice or manipulating her, he took a deep breath, raised his hand, and caressed her flushed cheek, "Can’t you understand that I’m trying to protect you? If anything happens to you because of me, I’ll never forgive myself, Rhea. Will you not do this much for me and go back home? Please."
Rhea understood his concern for her, but if there was one person who should protect the other, it should be her safeguarding him. Her body possessed a powerful core while his did not; she could recover faster while he couldn’t. Rhea gazed into his pleading blue eyes, cupped his cheeks in her palm, and smiled, "I’m sorry, but I can’t return home and leave you to face a chaotic world alone."
Draven was about to speak again, but she gently placed a finger on his lips. "Shh. Let’s not argue anymore, my love. Would you prefer that I give you the impression that I’ll listen to you and return home, only to secretly follow you to Birhhan? Or would you rather have me accompany you, where you can protect me by your side?" She pouted like a child and wrapped her arms around his waist. "Please take me with you. I promise to stick by your side and do as you say." Looking up at him with innocent puppy eyes, she pleaded, "Please, hubby."
Unable to resist her any longer, Draven sighed in defeat. "Alright, I will take you along," he declared. "We will be going to the capital city of Birhhan. There have been reports of a seal being cast by the person responsible for the chaos. The Dragons suspect Erebus to be the culprit, so I need to go there and confirm before deciding on our next course of action to prevent his chaos from spreading to our world." He explained to her.
Rhea frowned, her eyes narrowing. "But what if it’s a trap set by the culprit?" she asked, her voice filled with concern.
"That’s why I wanted to go alone. You really should stay_" he began, but she cut him off.
"No, I’m not staying. I insist on going with you," she said firmly.
