Chapter 176: The woman he love

Chapter 176: The woman he love

They sat there in silence, Rhea’s hand gently caressing Draven’s head. He couldn’t resist closing his eyes, savoring the soothing sensation. The tranquility of the night was only interrupted by the graceful swaying of Rhea’s beautiful legs, which playfully splashed water as she continued to stroke his head.

After a while, Rhea finally broke the silence, saying, "Looking back, we’ve come a long way. Months ago, I would have never imagined a day when we could sit together in such comfort without getting on each other’s nerves. It feels like just yesterday I saw you enter those stables while I was restrained by Jurian’s aunt-in-law, but it’s been more than eight months now."

No one could deny that fact. They had indeed traversed a remarkable journey together, navigating life’s challenges at every turn. The bond between them transcended that of any other person. For eight months, they had been each other’s unwavering support.

Draven didn’t respond verbally, but his actions spoke volumes, as his tail automatically swayed back and forth in the water, in sync with the rhythm of Rhea’s legs.

Rhea spoke again after awhile, "Draven, do you think you will find peace after you take revange on Alina?" She asked.

The swaying of Draven’s tail suddenly stopped. He was silent for a second, then said, "Yes, I will."

Rhea let out a sigh, "I had a dream about Cal, he wasn’t happy that I avenged him."

"It’s just a dream, Rhea. Don’t let it get to you." He assured calmly.

Rhea sighed once more, her distress apparent as she said, "But sometimes, my dreams feel all too real. He appeared so sorrowful."

"Do you regret taking Oriana’s life then?" He inquired.

Rhea swiftly shook her head, saying, "No, I have no regrets. Though I hesitated at first, I couldn’t bring myself to end her life despite her wrongdoings. It was only when she stabbed me that I realized she didn’t deserve my mercy, she was just as evil as her Aunt. And after I avenged myself by stabbing her, I felt a sense of relief. Now, I have another person to confront: Azure." She paused briefly before continuing, "Even though a part of me yearns to question his motives, another part of me despises him to the bones. His betrayal has left a profound scar on my heart. He is... Ah!"

Rhea’s words were abruptly interrupted when Draven suddenly transformed into his human form and pulled her into the pool. Instinctively, she wrapped her arm around his neck for balance, while Draven’s strong arm securely held her waist against his body.

Rhea became acutely aware of their closeness, and the fact that he was naked beneath the water caused her cheeks to flush. Nevertheless, she maintained eye contact with him as his piercing blue eyes locked onto hers.

"Rhea," he called her name in a deep husky voice, "I will heal every scar in your heart and take away your pain like you took mine away."

Rhea felt her heart skip a beat at his words. Her heart swelled with warmth and love for him, but then she knew better than to let herself misunderstand the meaning behind his words. With her palms placed flat on his firm chest, she lowered her head to hide the emotions in her eyes. But Draven continued to speak,

"I want to cure your wounds and make you feel better, I want to take away all the bad memories you had in Birhhan and replace them with happy ones." He whispered huskily as he placed his forehead against hers. He wanted to move on with Rhea, but he could only do that after he killed Alina and rid himself of the fear that she would harm Rhea for his core. He wouldn’t be completely at peace until Alina was removed from his life, but before that, he didn’t want the love Rhea had for him to die.

Rhea blinked in a daze, her heart was already a beating mess. She laughed lightly as she thought Draven didn’t mean his words, she then playfully poked his chest with her finger, "You got me wrong, dragon. I meant that taking revenge will make you feel better, but not cure the scar in your heart." She laughed softly. She wanted to cure his wounds and leave no scar behind, but that could only happen if he allowed her to help him do so. It could only happen if he was willing to love again.

Rhea smiled, "However, I am looking forward to you curing the scar in my heart." She said, then added, "But since I have promised to take care of you, it’s my responsibility to heal your scar instead. I will make you forget the pain and learn to smile and laugh and look forward to your future instead of dwelling on the bitter memories of the past. You..."

Rhea’s words were interrupted by Draven, he caught the hands she placed on his chest and interlocked their fingers together while still maintaining eye contact.

"Rheanna," His voice deepened with sensuality. "As a matter of fact, there’s something I’ve wanted to do ever since this morning, when I turned around and saw you standing at the entrance in that plain white dress."

Even in her state of heightened nervousness, Rhea knew he intended to kiss her just like he had intended to do before they were interrupted by Ethan in the morning. But now, at this time of the night, there would be no interruption unless she pulled away. However, she didn’t want to do that.

The pool water was still and calm, with only the faint sound of ripples lapping at the edge of the pool. The lamps flickered softly around the pool, casting a warm glow over everything. The air was a mixture of cold and warm as Draven’s gaze bored down at her without moving to kiss her as if waiting for her to protest.

And then when she thought he wouldn’t kiss her, Draven raised his hand and caressed her cheek, then he reached out and drew her purposefully between his legs. Her hip brushed the inside of his hard thigh, sending shock waves of alarmed awareness through her entire nervous system. She could feel every inch of his nakedness against her body.

His hands slid up her arms to gently imprison her shoulders. In helpless anticipation she watched his beautiful, sensual lips slowly descend to hers. His mouth covered hers, moving and probing in a kiss that was lazily coaxing, yet breathtakingly insistent.

Rhea tried desperately to hold on to her fleeing sanity, but the moment his tongue slid against her lips she lost the battle. And everything around her disappeared into a blur, all she could feel was Draven’s mouth and hard body against hers. Her body felt like it would explode from wanting something even she couldn’t understand.

With a smothered moan, she leaned into him and let him part her lips. His response was immediate. He was so skilled, Rhea thought dazzlingly as his arms tightened around her, imprisoning her against his chest, while his mouth opened hungrily, his tongue plunging into her mouth and stroking against hers.

Something exploded inside Rhea; her body arched against him, and her hands lifted compulsively to caress his neck and slide through the soft wet hair at his nape as she eagerly responded to his hungry mouth.

Draven felt he would lose control if he didn’t stop this, but he just couldn’t bring himself to stop it. She felt so right in his arms, he knew he wanted her so badly, but just because she was allowing him to kiss her, he didn’t want to take advantage of that. Draven finally tore away from the heated kiss, but Rhea let out a displeased moan and inched her head forward to follow his mouth. Her actions made a smile grace his lips and made her blush in embarrassment.

Rhea felt light-headed by that kiss, and embarrassed for her shamelessness. Trembling with inner turmoil, she leaned her forehead against his shoulder. His warm lips drifted across her cheek to her temple, trailing downward until his teeth playfully nipped her earlobe. He chuckled huskily against her ear, "You should go back to your room before I wolf you down in the pool."

Rhea tore away from him in embarrassment and climbed out of the pool, she quickly picked up her lamp and robe and ran out of the fence as if the hounds of hell were chasing her. And Draven couldn’t help the laugh that roared out of his throat as he watched her escape. He recalled her words;

’But since I have promised to take care of you, it’s my responsibility to heal your scar instead. I will make you forget the pain and learn to smile and laugh and look forward to your future instead of dwelling on the past.’ she had told him earlier, but what she didn’t know was that she had cured most of his past scars, she had slipped herself into his heart and made him love again. She had awoken his desire of the past to have his own family with the woman he loved...

And he would surely do so after he took care of Alina and removed her completely from his life and from ever finding out that his core was with the woman he loved now. Rhea, he thought, was the woman he love and would build a family with in the future.
