Bound To The Ice Dragon King
Chapter 153: The girl has the core

Chapter 153: The girl has the core

In Birhhan capital city, away from the dragon realm, stood Alina’s grand mansion, tall and proud. Within its walls, in the parlor room, Alina sat with closed eyes and outstretched hands, utilizing her magic to create something she had been working on tirelessly for years. While her creation wouldn’t cure Enzo’s heart disease, it would safeguard his body against any other threats. With the ongoing war, she needed to ensure that her beloved would remain unharmed.

Seated across from Alina was Oriana, observing her aunt’s work with a slight frown. Ever since Azure had dismissed her from her position, she had returned to live with Alina for the time being. She had chosen to stay here to avoid any questions of why she was dismissed. However, despite her decision to stay with her Aunt, Oriana was far from content. How could she be when her once beautiful face bore a prominent scar?

Oriana had attempted various methods, but it appeared that no miracle could remove the unsightly scar from her face. Even Alina had tried to assist, but she only succeeded in getting rid of it for two days before it reappeared again. Oriana despised looking in the mirror and seeing an unattractive woman staring back at her. The more she failed to remove the scar, the more her hatred for Rhea grew. She wanted nothing more than to get revenge on the person she blamed for her misfortune, as Rhea was the cause of her downfall and loss of being a potential leader just like Alina. She could only get peace after avenging herself from Rhea.

Even though she had made the whole Birhhan believe that Rhea and the dragon had killed Cal, she still wasn’t satisfied because Azure knew the truth. However, knowing that Rhea’s family probably hated her more by now, was a bit satisfying. But she would get that complete satisfaction by witnessing Rhea’s death.

Sitting in the parlor room with Alina, Oriana watched her Aunt use magic to attach shiny blue things to a robe. However, she wasn’t paying much attention to it to know exactly what the shinny things were. She took a sip of her tea and let out a heavy sigh.

Sensing her niece’s melancholic mood, Alina spoke up, "Ori, you need to take it easy. You know you wouldn’t have lost that position if you hadn’t been responsible for Cal’s death." Without lifting her head, she continued, "You’re aware that Azure, among the fire controllers, had a strong fondness for Cal. But rest assured, I will speak to him and try to regain your position once the war crisis settles down." She reassured Oriana.

Oriana let out a scoff, "You think Azure dismissed me because of Cal’s death? He didn’t, he was angry because that piece of trash was rescued and taken away from him. I’ve always known he liked her, but trying his best not to show it, and you know what, I’m sure he wouldn’t have let her die even though she wasn’t rescued, that’s why I wanted to personally do the job."

Alina’s hands paused, and the light radianting from them dimmed, she finally looked up to face Oriana, "What girl is that?" She asked curiously.

Alina had been away for awhile, she had no idea of what had happened because even when she came back, the first thing they spoke about was the war and the Dragons attack, though she’d heard few of the fire controllers speaking about a prisoner being rescued, she hadn’t paid attention to the gossip, as anything that wouldn’t benefit her was irrelevant to her.

Oriana sighed, she wasn’t surprised that her aunt was asking this question, Oriana had mentioned Rhea more than once in her presence, but because Rhea wasn’t someone important that could catch her interest, her Aunt hadn’t been paying attention to all the words about her, but at the mention of Azure liking the girl, she was curious.

"Well, she’s no one important, she was the piece of trash who released the dragons a year ago, Rheanna Villden. And she is the same girl who was caught in the forbidden cave helping a dragon to unseal the black magic."

Alina had just picked up her tea cup to take a sip when she heard those words, her hand shook and the tea almost fell from her hand, but she quickly dropped the cup. Her heart skipped a beat. However, Oriana didn’t notice the changes in Alina and continued speaking.

"That Rhea even claimed that she was married to the dragon, she has been helping him do things in the capital. I know you wouldn’t know of this because you were away, but she was also the girl who helped the dragon kill uncle Edmund. She should have died in the execution hole, but that stupid dragon just had to show up and rescue her...!"

Oriana continued to speak, but her voice had faded away from Alina’s head, all she could think about was the thought that a girl had been helping Draven do all these things. When he had removed his core and thrown it away, she knew the core wouldn’t just vanish, it would absorb into a new body it found. And without his core, Draven wouldn’t be able to unseal any of his body parts. She had been wondering for long how he was able to get his essence, and who had his core...

If it was true that this girl Oriana spoke about had really been going around helping him, it only meant she had the core, she had the thing she had been searching for a good twenty years.

"Hmm," Alina hummed, but at the thought that Draven had retrieved his dragon form, somehow sent unease to her body. If he had retrieve the dragon, he also had probably found out that something was missing on the dragon. To mask her unease, she continued what she was doing and acting casually.

"Ori, how strong was the dragon when he rescued the girl?" She asked calmly, but deep down, she wasn’t calm.

"He seems pretty strong, he was strong enough to suppress Azure’s spell with just a breath. And his powers was also strong enough to disfigure my face without a cure!" She gritted her teeth in annoyance.

Alina’s hands slightly shook, she put down her hands and said, "Ori, with this war, I think it’s best that you were dismissed from your position for now, at least you wouldn’t be in danger. You should stay here until everything settles, and since i plan to be part of the war, I’d like you to look after Enzo for me while I’m gone. If you’ll excuse me I’d like to go and continue this in my room." Saying that, she stood up and packed her stuff.

Oriana nodded her head slightly to show respect, "Yes, Aunt Alina."

Immediately Alina returned to her room, she pressed a button on the wall, and the wall slid open, revealing a secret room. She cautiously entered the secret dark room. The room was cloaked in an impenetrable darkness, making it nearly impossible to see anything. Yet, Alina moved with an eerie confidence, as if she knew her way intimately.

Finally, Alina reached the center of the room. She dropped to her knees, and whispered into the darkness.

"Erebus... I summon you."

As Alina uttered those words, a thick black smoke began to rise from the floor, swirling and coiling in the air. Within the smoky tendrills, two deep red eyes appeared, piercing through the darkness like burning embers. It was Erebus, the ancient and malevolent entity everyone believed to have perished.

"Alina...You dare summon me?" His voice echoed in the darkness, "what brings you here, seeking my presence again after I’ve told you not to come to me unless you’ve found it?!"

Alina’s eyes shimmered with a mix of fear and excitement. She knew the power she was dealing with, yet she was risking everything. Though Alina was a powerful woman, and every person looked up to her, but when it came to Erebus, she was nothing but a mere servant after the deal she’d made with him centuries ago to get all these powers she possessed now. To be able to save Enzo, make him be an immortal and remember his past life memories, she had to do everything Erebus wanted her to do, only by doing so will her husband return to her.

"Erebus. I have found it. I know who possesses it now, all I have to do is to get the person."

Erebus’s voice dripped with amusement, his formless presence seeming to smirk. "How amusing, Alina. You’ve always been eager to challenge fate, that’s why I like you more than that Azure. But you know I hate it when I put my hopes up and then it get shattered. If you fail to bring it to me this time, your lovely Enzo..."

"I won’t fail," Alina’s face flashed with determination as she raised her head, meeting Erebus’ red eyes, "We have a deal, so I must keep it, and in return you also have to keep yours. Enzo must not be harmed, I will give you what you desire, and you’ll give me mine."

Erebus chuckled, a chilling sound that echoed through the room. "Ah, my dear Alina. Always the determined one. I won’t hurt him if you don’t screw up this time. Everyone believes that I was killed by the Dragons centuries ago, I want to give the world a surprise, and I’m counting on you to get me what I desire to step out of these walls."

"I will not let you down, I will get the girl who has it."

Erebus’s smoky form shimmered with delight, his eyes glowing brighter. "Good, that’s why I like you." He said, his voice filled with a sinister pleasure, "I have been starving for days now, get me more core’s to eat. If possible, I want a powerful one like the royal one you got me the other time."

"Yes, my Lord."
