Bound To The Ice Dragon King -
Chapter 144: Dragon king!
Chapter 144: Dragon king!
"Rhea, be a good girl if you survive...live a life of happiness, don’t let grief consume you."
"Cal, stop talking. Put the spell around you, please, I beg you!" Rhea cried, her face was flushed from her crying and the heat.
"Oriana, I admit defeat, I will lick you feet if you want me to, but please help him with your powers!"
Oriana heard Rhea’s plea. If she used her magic, she could shield his body from that heat. Oriana looked down at her palms, but just as she was about to use her powers to shield Cal, she heard approaching footsteps, it seemed the execution red light had alerted people, she couldn’t afford to be seen here. Thus, without wasting another second around the scene, Oriana fled to save herself from any unwanted scandal, ignoring Rhea’s pleas.
The people who rushed to the scene heard Rhea’s hoarse cries and looked down at the hole and saw Cal in her arms, he was already melting, but the door was already sealed none of them could do anything but watch in horror and wondering who activeted the execution spell.
Although, Rhea was screaming all her lungs out for someone to help, only she could hear her raspy cries, her voice was too hoarse and dry to be heard out loud. She was crying but no one could help Cal, nor could she help him. She could only watch in horror as his flesh melted, she saw as his flesh ripped apart and his bones melt along, before it began to get sucked into the ground like water. He melted away until there was nothing left of him.
Cal was gone, he didn’t even leave behind a skeleton. He was gone completely, only his shielding barrier was left around her body. But it also slowly started to disappear.
Rhea let out a loud scream that damaged her voice completely.
Rhea knew without Cal’s barrier, it would be a matter of minutes before she would also melt along with him, but she no longer fought it, she felt blood trickling down her nose. No one came to save Cal, and no one would come to save her as well.
It doesn’t matter anymore, Cal had died trying to rescue her, it was only right she pay back with her own life. Even if she survived this, her entire life would be filled with regrets and grief. She deserved to die, she was a cursed seed who brought nothing but bad luck to people, her father was right for giving her away, she was cursed. Only death was her punishment. Yes, death...
Rhea’s eyes had lost all their spark, she closed her eyes to submit to fate.
"Rheanna!" She heard Draven’s panicked voice in her head, and the core in her body chilled up. However, even that feeling wasn’t enough to bring back her spark, she wanted to die here, she wanted to stop breathing.
Rhea heard his voice again, but this time it came with a loud Dragon roar from the distance. Her eyes immediately shot open at the sound of the roar.
In a split second, she heard the roar get closer and louder, it reverberated through the air, shaking the earth like an earthquake. Rhea was still in the middle of the execution spell but then she felt the core in her body come alive at the sound of the roar, the shaking of the ground intensified.
"A dragon!" Someone screamed outside.
"It’s a king Dragon!!"
Rhea heard the panic filled voices of the people outside, but her eyes were glued on the majestic dragon in the night sky, it began to rain ice in its wake. She heard the people’s agonizing screams, but yet she didn’t tear her eyes away from the majestic white and blue Dragon.
She felt the pressure of its freezing wind, and before she knew it, the Dragon blew out its icy breath down on the execution hole, immediately the spell went out, and the ground froze. The dragon swept over the horizon accompanied by a rain of icy wind, that suppressed Azure’s spell. With the spell gone, the hole plunged back into darkness, leaving only the moonlight.
She watched as the dragon transformed into it’s human form and immediately draped over a long black robe around his naked body.
Draven swiftly tied the robe belt around his waist as he descended down into the hole. He stood before Rhea, the moonlight shone over his head.
Their gazes locked as Rhea stared at him intently, refusing to blink. She couldn’t help but notice the significant changes in Draven since the last time she’d seen him. If it weren’t for his face, she might have mistaken him for someone else entirely. His physique had transformed, appearing more muscular and taller in her eyes. Bathed in the moonlight, his skin seemed to glow, his lips taking on a rosy hue. Framed by his long, ebony hair, his face possessed an angelic quality. His eyes were clearer, as if a veil had been lifted.
He resembled a divine being descended from the heavens. The way he stood reminded her of the first time they met in the stables, but this new version of Draven exuded a dangerous and overpowering presence. He commanded respect and seemed capable of killing without hesitation, his cold expression revealing his true nature.
Nevertheless, despite all the noticed changes, when Draven’s eyes scanned her body and he took in her deteriorating condition, his icy demeanor faltered, and a heartbroken expression crossed his face.
"Oh, Rhea..." He swiftly knelt down, sliding one arm beneath her knees and the other around her back, gathering her into his embrace. With her small frame cradled in his arms, he whispered into her ear, "I will get you out of this place."
Draven cradled Rhea’s body like a baby, she was burning hot, she had no strength to even look up at him again, he could feel the slight trembling of her body. He couldn’t help but also notice how thin she’d become, so thin he thought she’d break if he mishandled her even a little bit. Thus, he held her like the most delicate thing in the world.
He knew how strong Rhea was, she was the kind not to rely on others to save her, but now she was so weak she couldn’t even speak. Draven felt rage surge through his veins, he was angry, so angry he wanted to deal with the person who did this to her. He couldn’t help but thighten his hold on her body to pass her his coldness, she was burning.
"Let’s go back home," he whispered softly.
But it was like those words finally awoken the dazed Rhea, she came back to her senses and hoarsely squeezed out a word throw her raw throat, "Cal..."
If it wasn’t for her head being close to his ear, Draven probably wouldn’t have heard her word.
Draven’s heart suddenly throbbed with some unknown jealousy. It was as if her barely heard word had stabbed his heart. Why was she asking for Cal in her condition?
"Help him, please.... don’t let him die." Tears streamed down her cheeks, soaking into Draven’s robe.
Draven looked around the execution hole but he didn’t see any signs of Cal. However, when he remembered the execution light he had noticed from the sky, he immediately guessed what had happened. Cal died saving her...
Draven was silent for a brief moment, then he took a step forward while still holding her tightly in his arms, "Cal is gone, Rhea."
Rhea’s weak hand immediately grabbed his robe, she shook her head in denial, "He’s not gone, he was here earlier, please save him. Draven please..."
Draven felt another stab to his heart, but this time it wasn’t the fleeting jealousy, it was how she was crying and begging him to save Cal, who was already dead. However, this wasn’t the right place for him to delay and console her, the fire controllers were already gathering above them in the hole.
The fire controllers no longer wondered who turned on the execution spell, the most important issue for them now, was that a dragon had dared entered into Birhhan and was trying to rescue a prisoner.
Some of the fire controllers shouted down at Draven, "Where in Heavens name did you get the damn courage to enter our land? You even dared kill our comrades to rescue a traitor? Do you think we will let you out now that you brought yourself?!"
Draven glanced upwards and saw the bunch of fire controllers looking down at them, he then looked down at Rhea, "Rheanna, we need to leave now, Cal is no longer here."
Rhea closed her eyes, she knew more than anyone else that Cal was dead, he was no more, but her heart didn’t want to accept that fact. Even though she wanted nothing but death at this moment, she couldn’t be selfish enough to drag Draven along with her to the grave, he had to survive, but...
Cal...Cal.
Rhea cried even harder, her throat was burning. She felt like there was a dagger chapping at her heart. It hurt, it hurt so much she couldn’t accept it. She bit down on her lips to hold back her sobs, she couldn’t even say much to Draven and whispered, "Take me away..."
Draven didn’t hesitate for even a second, cold fog covered his whole body. There was still that last chain wrapped around Rhea’s wrist, he didn’t bother with the seal, he just grabbed the chain and the ice around his palm froze the metal.
The chain was frozen into ice then broken into pieces.
Draven didn’t delay again, he swiftly leapt upwards with cold fog surrounding his body. The powers he used to shoot upwards was strong enough to hit the fire controllers around the hole, they all shattered to random direction like disposed rag dolls.
When they exited the hole, before Draven could transform, Rhea quickly grabbed his robe again, "Wait," she whispered.
Draven stopped and looked down at her questioningly. But before he could ask her what was wrong, Rhea managed to crane her neck, and with the last bit of strength left in her body, she yelled,
"Oriana!" Her voice wasn’t that loud, but it echoed through the nights, it reached Oriana who was hiding behind a pillar. She jolted at the sound of Rhea’s voice, she peeked out but then she couldn’t see Rhea in sight, but she heard her voice and words clearly.
"Oriana, I swear to the Heavens, I will pay back what you did today. I will kill you. I, Rheanna will kill every single one of the fire controllers, including Azure! From today onwards, I am no longer a Villden nor a human. I will be the monster you all fear, I will destroy you all!"
The hidden murderous anger in her hoarse voice made the people who heard her shiver in fear.
When Rhea was done speaking, she let herself fall back into Draven’s arms. She’d used all her strength to deliver her message.
Draven looked down at her, but he didn’t speak a word. In a flash, he transformed into his majestic dragon form and flew into the horizon.
Rhea laid on his back, the icy coldness surrounding his body was just what she needed. It felt so good that she let herself fall into unconsciousness.
