Bound To The Ice Dragon King -
Chapter 127: Sharing the same aura
Chapter 127: Sharing the same aura
After the family dinner last night, Rhea and Draven continued to ignore each other. They didn’t make any attempt to talk or engage with one another, but Draven had kept staring at her the whole time they were at the dinning hall. The next morning, Rhea went on a palace tour with Gail. During the tour, they enjoyed eating more of the delicious fruits from the massive tree.
Rhea realized that Gail was the kindest person she had met in the dragon realm. This realization brought them closer, and they started spending more time together, becoming close friends.
Usually, Gail had an assistant who accompanied her. This assistant had previously treated Rhea’s wound. However, after becoming close, Gail took it upon herself to personally treat Rhea’s wound and was determined to make sure it wouldn’t leave a scar on her cheek.
Everytime Rhea came for treatment, Gail would send out all the maids and guards around her room, including her assistant who was supposed to be around her as she was learning about dragon medicines. However, Gail would send the young girl out and told her to go and play in the mountain so she could have the opportunity to pour out her repressed feelings for her lover to Rhea.
At first, Rhea refused to listen because she wanted to avoid any discussion about love. However, Gail continued to tell the story of how she met her secret lover, Elliot, regardless of Rhea’s interest. Gail would repeat the story every time Rhea came for treatment.
As usual, Gail was about to start the story again today, but Rhea interrupted her, saying, "I already know everything about your story. I know that you first met Elliot when you went to the human world to gather plants for medicine. He caught you, and you escaped into the woods. He chased after you, and you both ended up falling into a deep hole. You fought inside the hole until you both got wounded and tired. Then, he negotiated with you to transform and help get you both out of the hole, promising not to kill you. At first, you didn’t trust him, but you saw sincerity in his grey eyes. You couldn’t refuse his offer, so you transformed and got him out. And just as he promised, he didn’t harm you. Then, you became friends and eventually secret lovers." Rhea said all of this without taking a breath, pouring out the entire story in one go.
"You see, I already know everything. And when you couldn’t see him as often as before, your mood started to worsen, and_ouch!" Rhea exclaimed as her sentence was cut short as Gail lightly pinched her wound to make her stop talking.
"I understand that you may not want to hear any more of my love-related ramblings, but you are the only person I confide in when it comes to Elliot. I have been trying to express to you just how much I yearn for him, but it seems that you are not taking me seriously, Rhea," Gail expressed her frustration, pursing her lips. "I don’t care if you find me bothersome, but discussing Elliot is the only thing that brings me joy. And since you are the only one who knows about him, you have no choice but to listen. If you refuse, I will not treat your wound until you do."
Rhea took a deep breath and closed her mouth, understanding that her wound still required further treatment to heal.
Gail smiled with satisfaction as Rhea obediently lay down on the bed, allowing her to continue applying the medicine. Gail then shared, "I miss him once again. I wonder what he is doing at this moment, who he is conversing with, and if he is enjoying his favorite meal." She let out a sigh. "You know, on our first secret date, he took me to the human opera. We watched a romantic performance together, and at the end, a singer emerged and sang a profoundly emotional song about longing. The lines that resonated with me the most were..." Gail proceeded to sing that particular part for Rhea.
"Distance may keep us apart, but love holds us tight
I’ll wait for you, my love, through every lonely night
Until the day we’re reunited and our souls align
I’ll keep longing for you, my love, until the end of time."
Gail’s smile turned bitter as she finished singing her favorite part of the song. She then expressed, "In the past, I never realized how strong the longing for someone can be, like a poison slowly consuming one’s soul, until I met Elliot. At this stage in my life, I feel like if I don’t end up with him, I would prefer death over a miserable existence without him. Each day without him feels like a punishment." Pausing from applying medicine, she looked at Rhea and added, "I know you may not fully comprehend what I’m going through. You can never truly understand unless you experience love for yourself. And when that day comes for you, my dear, you will understand the depth of my emotions." She spoke with gentleness in her voice.
Rhea gazed into Gail’s longing-filled golden brown eyes. While she couldn’t completely empathize with her, she could grasp a portion of her emotions. She too had experienced a time when she couldn’t bear to let go of that heartless Draven. She couldn’t imagine a life without him, but she knew her feelings weren’t the same as Gail’s. Her attachment was probably due to the influence of that potion back then and the connection between them.
But then thinking about it now, could she really still bring herself to leave Draven after coming this far? If she were to return to Birhhan one day, would her life ever be the same without Draven?
Rhea dismissed those thoughts and returned her focus to Gail, who seemed lost in thought. "Gail, I know you miss him, but don’t do anything stupid that may cost your life." Rhea’s tone was much more serious than her usual playful tone towards her new friend, "there’s an impending war going on, there are countless fire controllers and mighty creatures to help them fight this war. Don’t think you can go sneaking into the human world just because you’re familiar with the route. I’m sure if he loves you, he’ll never replace you."
Rhea’s serious gaze bore into Gail’s golden brown eyes, it was as if she could see through her soul. "Time has changed, please don’t risk your life for love. And don’t act recklessly."
Gail was slightly shaken by Rhea’s intense look. It was like her intense gaze had pierced into her inner heart and knew what she was thinking. She quickly pinched Rhea’s wound again.
Rhea hurriedly sat up, "Ouch! What’s wrong with you?! You are not being professional by pinching me like this. Look, my wound is bleeding again!"
Gail smirked, "I am very professional, dear. Now lay back down so I can apply the last medicine." She pressed Rhea’s shoulder back down to make her lay down, "I am the great doctor who treats Dragon illnesses, you should commend me for knowing about humans."
"Hell be damned! You are making me bleed and you want me to commend you for it? Pah!"
Gail laughed in the face of Rhea’s furry, "Now stop with your complaints and lay back down if you don’t want that wound to scar."
Rhea; "...!"
Gail gently pushed Rhea back onto the mattress and carefully wiped away a drop of blood from her cheek. However, after a short silence, Gail’s expression turned into a frown as she asked an unexpected question.
"Rhea...did you happen to..." she paused, her face turning red with embarrassment about what she was about to ask, which made Rhea even more curious about what she wanted to say.
Rhea urged, "What did I do?"
"I mean, did you have sex with that Draven and let him mark you as his?" Gail questioned.
Rhea sat up abruptly, "WHAT?! Why would I do that with him? No!" Rhea exclaimed.
"Then why does your blood smell like his aura?" Gail inquired.
"What do you mean?" Rhea asked, confused.
Gail then explained, "Only those who have been marked by a dragon can share their aura, and marking involves... well, having sex."
"Eww, I didn’t have any such thing with that dragon!" Rhea’s face turned red with anger and embarrassment.
Gail frowned, saying, "That’s odd. Your blood has the same scent as his aura. If you weren’t wearing an aura masker, everyone would be able to smell you. But because of the mask, only when you bleed will anyone notice your scent, and they would assume you’re already marked by him."
Rhea’s eyes widened. Could it be because of his core in her body that made her smell like Draven’s aura? However, it was understandable that Gail assumed she had been intimate with Draven to have his scent, as she had no idea her body possessed something of his. Feeling embarrassed, she decided to change the subject.
"By the way, how did you know I’m wearing a mask?"
"Well, the masks are naturally produced in the dragon realm, so when we want to go to the human world, we wear them to conceal our scent."
Rhea nodded. But then a thought crossed her mind. If the masks were naturally produced in the dragon realm, how did Aria manage to obtain them? She wondered.
Gail resumed to talk about her lover, forgetting about why Rhea smelled like Draven. However, Rhea no longer listen as her mind were filled with thoughts.
