Bound To The Ice Dragon King
Chapter 124: King’s support

Chapter 124: King’s support

Ethan hurriedly reassured, "Do not worry, the little ones often fall, it is not dead." I hope, he silently added.

Despite Ethan’s assurance, Rhea was on the verge of glancing down the mountain. However, Draven quickly grabbed her wrist and began guiding her along the mountain path. The closer they got to the king, the more powerful and overwhelming his presence became.

Rhea couldn’t help but gaze up at Draven’s back as he pulled her along. Was his presence also this formidable in the past? For some reason, she found herself growing increasingly curious about Draven’s past life before he was betrayed.

Draven, sensing Rhea’s intense gaze, was unsure why she was looking at him in such a manner. He mistakenly believed she disliked him holding her hand and promptly released his grip. However, his actions lacked their usual composure.

Unaware that Draven had even been holding her wrist, Rhea suddenly felt his grip loosen. She frowned at his abrupt release but chose to remain silent.

Before long, they reached the king. Ethan respectfully bowed and addressed his father, "Your Majesty, your guests have arrived."

Rhea froze as she slowly glanced up to see the king up close. A cold breeze wafted by and melted away her courage. She met the figure before her. His hair was sliver and long, his features were the pinnacle of beauty, yet they were also masked by his aura of indifferent chilliness.

His blue eyes were as deep as the ocean, he didn’t look a day older than thirty. His appearance was so pure and elegant that Rhea thought he looked like an angel, who had just descended from Heaven.

This was the man who the humans believed was a monster and doesn’t deserve to be loved. His demeanor was too calm and reserved for those rumors to be true.

King Henry observed the two guests in front of him, his gaze lingering oddly on the right side of Rhea’s chest, where Draven’s core resided before turning to Draven. "King Draven El-Dezeus, it is an honor to have you in my clan. However, it is surprising that you managed to break that spell," he remarked calmly, his expression betraying no emotion.

Rhea inwardly thought that King Henry seemed to be aware of Draven’s situation. He might even know about Draven’s dragon form sealed in the volcano.

Draven faced the king with his usual composure, neither fawning nor commanding. "I am honored to be welcomed into your clan. Indeed, I was fortunate enough to break the spell by chance."

King Henry’s expression remained unchanged as he continued, "My clan is in need of more powerful Dragons for support. Now that you have returned to the dragon realm, are you willing to fight for the dragons?"

"I am more than willing," Draven replied. "However, I also have a request for you, Henry."

Draven addressed the king by his name without any formalities, surprising Ethan with his boldness. However, King Henry showed no reaction, as if he was accustomed to it. There was a brief silence before he spoke again.

"Your aura is not strong enough, and your powers are only faint. Have you not fully regained yourself?" he asked, a slight frown creasing his brow.

"Yes, I still haven’t found my dragon form," he replied curtly. Since the king was already aware of what had happened to him, Draven had no reason to keep it a secret. It saved him from having to explain everything from the beginning, and there was no need to beat around the bush.

"I have regained my powers, but they’re not functioning properly because I haven’t regained my form. I need my dragon form in order to fully utilize my powers like before," he explained. "Two days ago, we crossed the border mountain and I happened to sense my form in the hole of the volcano, where Erebus was sealed centuries ago."

The king’s expression immediately turned serious at the mention of Erebus. "It seems my suspicions were correct," he muttered to himself. His eyes took on a distant look. "In the past, humans and dragons coexisted peacefully and even fought against Erebus together. But the leader of the flame ruined everything. She brought chaos back into our once peaceful world," he said, pausing briefly before continuing.

"Centuries ago, before you allowed the leader of the fire controllers to join your clan, someone reported to me that they had spotted a woman and a man sneaking into the mountain cave where Erebus was sealed. No one knew why they went there, but one of my soldiers happened to see them. I suspected that they had awakened Erebus’s powers and absorbed them into their own bodies, but I couldn’t be certain. However, now that you mention sensing your form in there..." He paused, then locked eyes with Draven. "That woman has been using dark powers for centuries, and when she joined your clan, she was already prepared to destroy you."

Draven remained silent. He also had his suspicion back when she easily took down his clan, but he hadn’t suspected that she was using Erebus’ black powers. It became clear to him why Alina betrayed him with such confidence; she was certain of her abilities. Without the black powers, it would have been nearly impossible for her to overcome him and his entire clan.

Considering the current circumstances, it was highly likely that Alina had imprisoned his Dragon in the depths of Erebus’ hole, as she was familiar with the mountain cave after obtaining forbidden magic. Additionally, she had told him the location of his form, knowing that he would not survive if he attempted to retrieve it from the volcano hole. This place was treacherous, especially for those who did not possess control over fire.

Furthermore, the mountain had become a hostile environment due to impending war declarations, with fire controllers on high alert.

"King Henry, if I were to venture into the mountain to reclaim my form, would you be willing to lend me some assistance?" Draven calmly inquired.

Rhea, who had been silently observing, looked up at the king. With his support, Draven’s task would be much less daunting than venturing into the cave alone.

When the king didn’t respond, and seemed to be deep in thoughts, Draven added, "If you lend me your soldiers, they will be the ones to distract the fire controllers around the mountain while I retrieve my form. Once I am finished, I will lend my aid in the war against the fire controllers." He reassured the king, "I will take care of everything. I understand the dangers of the mountain, but with the assistance of your soldiers, nothing will go wrong. I will plan everything within a week." Draven spoke without blinking, maintaining steady eye contact with the king.

Rhea couldn’t help but sneak a glance at him. She wanted to remind him that his corruption would resurface in a week, as she had been subconsciously monitoring it since the last time it had acted up. However, she refrained from speaking as she noticed the determination in his eyes. He had been battling the corruption for twenty years, soon to be twenty-one, so he probably knew better than she did.

Finally, the king spoke, but instead of giving an answer, he posed another question, "How can you be certain that your form is in that hole?"

"I know because I have regained my powers. I can sense it, even from here. Once I undo the spell, my Dragon will automatically reconnect with my body. So, what is your decision, Henry? Are you willing to lend them to me?"

The king was still silently thinking about it, when Ethan who had remained silent the whole time suddenly interjected, "No!" After he broke the silence, he immediately bowed in apology to his father, who gave him a stern look. But his face was still filled with youthful anxiety as he spoke,

"Father, the border mountain still had a lot of fire controllers with their mighty mounts that are ready to fly them to attack any dragon who dares fly pass the borders, letting him take control of the soldiers to retrieve his form first would only drag back our soldiers and endanger their safety. It’s a set back if you stop to retrieve things first, we can’t let him lead us to our downfall like he did to his clan!"

There was a brief moment of silence in the air, even the breeze seemed to stop. However, Draven understood that Ethan was only concerned for their people and clan, so he calmly responded, "I can’t guarantee success, but I’m willing to take the risk. As far as I know, the dragons have a lower chance of winning the war either way if the fire controllers and their mounts are involved. Besides, I’ve heard that Alina and Azure have been given control of the war by the Emperor in the human land." Draven paused for a moment, then added, "I know you also hold a deep grudge against Alina, just like I do. Give me the chance to avenge your daughter’s death."

Upon hearing this, King Henry’s expression turned serious and cold. He had been grieving for his wife for many years, and now his second daughter, who resembled his wife has been taken away from him. She was killed, and he would only find peace by avenging her death. But he knew he was no match for Alina and her black magic alone. Hearing Draven’s words, he didn’t need to think twice. He nodded his head and said, "I will support you in getting back what you want and avenge my daughter’s death."
