Chapter 155: Cold womb

"What do you want for dinner tonight?"

Lu Jincheng grinned, crouching on the ground, a cat toy in hand, swinging it in front of the kitten’s eyes.

Mian Mian was in her growing phase, trying to catch the jingling feather with every jump, but to no avail.

Guan Yongyi watched the man absorbed in playing with the cat and couldn’t help but curve her lips into a smile.

"When you were changing clothes, I had already ordered takeout."

Lu Jincheng didn’t even turn his head.

"Huh? You’re that efficient?"

Guan Yongyi blinked in surprise.

"Dealing with you legal folks, I have to be not only efficient but also good at picking up the right signals. You clearly didn’t seem to want to go out."

Lu Jincheng shrugged, speaking with ease.

"If at this time I had asked you out and you had rejected me, it would have been quite embarrassing."

Indeed, Guan Yongyi had no desire to go out.

She had been busy working on a case for the past week, finally wrapping it up, and had taught for an entire day today, truly feeling exhausted.

"Now you remember to care about losing face."

Guan Yongyi pursed her lips imperceptibly.

What a crafty man.

There was no denying it, her mood improved a bit.

Whenever she was with Lu Jincheng, he seemed to never make her uncomfortable.

Even his occasional flirty remarks and mischief were carried out with a certain level of tactful politeness.

Before long, the delivery guy knocked on the door and brought in a box containing a nine-inch pizza and some snacks.

It was just enough for the two of them.

"So I heard you managed to get Ms. Guo’s divorce settled?"

The intern had just successfully received her first fee and could hardly resist gossiping.

The table was set with food and cans, serving as a makeshift host; he may not cook, but the beer was plentiful.

With a fork, Guan Yongyi picked a small bite of salad, curious.

"It was nothing much; I just gave her ex-husband a scare, and the matter was resolved."

"We’ve been busy for half a month, and you solve it just like that, making us seem pretty incompetent."

Guan Yongyi raised her eyebrows, half in jest.

Her eyebrows were much denser than other girls’, usually half-hidden under her short bangs, but now pinned to the side while eating, adding a touch of boldness to her look.

Brows like distant mountain greenery, eyes like the tranquil ripples of autumn.

Guan Yongyi had an air about her that was reminiscent of the top Hong Kong stars who dominated the national scene in the millennium.

The same natural beauty, the same captivating features.

Sitting across and examining her, she was truly beautiful to look at.

"Who says you’re not useful? I’d be the first to disagree,"

Lu Jincheng said with a smile.

"How so?"

Guan Yongyi pursed her lips, waiting for him to continue.

Unexpectedly, the person across just looked into her eyes, with a smile that was not quite a smile.

Not until she averted her gaze, causing a blush to spread across her fair cheek, did he reach for a slice of pizza, speaking leisurely.

"You’re really beautiful, you know. Sometimes just looking at you lifts my spirits."

"..."

Guan Yongyi hurriedly looked down and took a small sip of craft beer, not sure how to respond.

The living room windows were ajar, and as the evening breeze blew, she subconsciously adjusted the stray hairs by her temples.

Thinking about how she must look at that moment, her fingertips tracing over her skin felt strangely warm.

"Did you buy a gift for Si si?"

She shifted the topic.

"Of course, I brought something. We’re like one big family, why would I favor one over the other?"

Lu Jincheng said, eyes smiling as he lifted his head, then added, "I brought you some tea, and I got her some Hang City pastries."

"Shameless, who’s your family!"

Guan Yongyi gave him a sideways glance, her mood relaxing bit by bit with his banter and the mellowing effect of the alcohol.

"The pastries didn’t turn out well, did they?"

"How did you know?"

The man scratched his head, "Well, it’s not exactly a complete flop, she just said she’s been eating them since she was small and gave most of them away to friends."

"Before you buy her something next time, you can ask me."

Guan Yongyi slowly finished the last piece of pizza and wiped her mouth.

"I understand her better; that way, you won’t step on any landmines."

"See, who says you’re not useful? You’re actually quite essential."

Lu Jincheng raised his can and clinked it against hers, filled with a sense of ceremony.

"Stop buttering me up."

Guan Yongyi’s eyes curved into smiles, but her words were not so easily won over.

"So, Mr. Guan, can I ask you for advice when buying gifts for other girls, too?"

"Get lost!"

...

Thus, after a satisfying meal and drinks, Mr. Lu rolled out without dragging his feet.

Despite Guan Guan’s flushed, pretty face and her eyes sparkling like autumn waters, and although the atmosphere between them was warming up,

he didn’t stay for too long.

He entertained Mian Mian until she was content, fed her a couple of cat treats, then found an excuse to leave.

For one thing, tonight wasn’t exactly prime time for making advances.

On the other hand, his older classmate was eagerly waiting for him to make his move.

Among all the beauties he planned to add to his harem, the only one he could bring back to Jiangnan Garden for a night of passion was Miao Miao alone.

His wallet, his star broadcaster, his little puppy.

I’m coming for you, gripping tight!

At the dormitory of the Music and Dance College, Mr. Lu finally picked up the eagerly awaiting Mou Keyan on his black electric scooter.

"I understand."

The older classmate had been waiting in the wind for quite a while, her hands cold around his waist.

"Hmm?"

"It turns out that, after all, I am the sister whom Brother dislikes, unlike the other prettier sisters."

Mou Keyan’s face pressed tightly against his back, and with every breath, she could still smell the faint scent of alcohol.

Normally, he would have ignored it, but after a brief separation, he went to see other women first.

How annoying!

Even the most forgiving of women could hardly avoid feeling a hint of jealousy.

"What are you talking about?"

Lu Jincheng fought back a smile, pretending not to understand even though the line was a classic quote from Dream of the Red Chamber.

"Let’s leave it, Brother has always been so carefree, it’s just me being petty."

Mou Keyan let out a soft murmur as her arms slipped under his long-sleeved T-shirt, unable to resist pressing against his well-defined abs, exploring back and forth.

I’ve missed him so much these past few days.

The longing is almost unbearable, like the fragrance of tea that fills the air.

"Are my hands cold?"

Her long, wavy hair spread out in the night sky, and her voice seemed to ride on the wind.

"Not cold."

Lu Jincheng shook his head.

"How can they not be cold? These past few days, I’ve missed you so much, I feel like I’ve chilled to the bone."

The warmth of his skin met her palm, Mou Keyan’s eyes half-closed as her fingertips traced lines on his abdomen.

"Talking nonsense again, how do you know you have a cold uterus?"

Lu Jincheng laughed softly.

He hadn’t expected her next words to make even an experienced playboy like himself implicitly understand.

"I’m sure I have a cold uterus, you know it."

"I’m not an old Chinese doctor, how would I know?"

Lu Jincheng retorted.

"Really, it’s cold, it needs warmth."

"You’ll know once you come in."
