Chapter 76: Chapter 76: Real Estates
"Jacob, do you truly think it is completely right to spend your birthday with your girl best friend who had just confessed to you yesterday?" Adriana’s voice sounded.
She was standing near a window with a cold expression.
Jacob’s voice could be heard from her phone,
"Adriana, it’s not like that. She confessed, but I didn’t say yes. I told her we were just friends. You are being petty."
"Petty? Me? Jacob, do you even love anymore? Last night, you went to watch a movie with your ex! Now you are celebrating your birthday with your girl best friend."
"She said she needed someone to talk to. I didn’t want to be rude." Jacob’s weak defense came from the other side.
"Wow, Jacob. That’s so thoughtful of you." Adriana said sarcastically.
"Hey, don’t make a big deal out of this, alright? I won’t cheat on you. That should be enough assurance for you. Don’t act like a crazy b*tch." Jacob sounded a bit impatient.
Adriana closed her eyes and said,
"Alright. I am the crazy b*tch then. Let’s breakup."
Jacob was silent for a moment before he let out a small laugh.
"Adriana, come on. Don’t be like this," he said smoothly. "You’re overreacting. I didn’t do anything wrong."
Adriana tightened her grip on her phone.
"Spending time with your ex and the girl who confessed to you is not wrong?"
"You’re twisting things," Jacob sighed.
"I already told you, my ex just needed someone to talk to, and my best friend? She’s been in my life longer than you. What, you want me to throw her away just because you
feel insecure?"Adriana’s jaw clenched.
"That’s not the point, Jacob. The point is you keep choosing them over me."
Jacob scoffed.
"That’s rich, coming from you. You, too, chose your family over me, right? You always find a reason to pick fights with me. It’s like you want to break up."
Adriana felt her chest tighten. "No, I just want a boyfriend who respects me."
Jacob sighed dramatically.
"You know I love you, Adriana. But if you can’t trust me, then maybe you’re the problem, not me."
Adriana’s breath hitched. She knew what he was doing—twisting everything, making her feel like she was being unreasonable.
"You always do this," she whispered.
"Do what?" Jacob asked, pretending to sound confused. "Tell the truth? Try to calm you down?"
Adriana shook her head. "No. You make me feel like I’m crazy for having basic expectations."
Jacob groaned. "Adriana, if you’re so unhappy, why are you still with me?"
Adriana froze.
"You might not remember this, Adriana, but when you were at the lowest of your life, I was there for you, not your family! They were busy in their life. Do I need to remind you..."
Adriana hung up the call, her breathing turned rapid, and she took hold of the wall to prevent herself from falling.
Her eyes turned moist as she sobbed.
Suddenly, someone tapped her on her shoulder.
Adriana’s face turned pale, and when she turned around, she saw Aurora standing behind her.
Aurora didn’t question her, instead, she wiped Adriana’s tears and said softly,
"Stop crying."
The tears Adriana was holding back started to fall.
She hugged Aurora’s waist and sobbed weakly.
Aurora’s heart ached.
She had never seen her eldest sister so broken. Yes, her sister had cried, but she was never this broken.
And what did Jacob mean by the lowest point of her life? Did Adriana suffer something?
The mere thought was enough to make Aurora suffocate.
Aurora hugged Adriana back, patting her head gently.
"It’s okay, sister," she whispered. "You don’t need him."
After some while, Adriana wiped away her tears and asked,
"What are you doing here? You shouldn’t have left your room."
Aurora, however, didn’t move. "Sister, are you hiding something?"
"What? N-No. Everything is alright. My boyfriend was acting sh*tty, and I was upset over it, that is all." Adriana tried to act calm.
Aurora didn’t believe Adriana.
How could she believe her when she could see how scared Adriana looked?
Yet she stayed silent.
"Sister, if there is something you can’t tell me now, when I will be coma, just tell it to me, okay?" Aurora said softly.
Everyone only sees Adriana’s straightforward and selfish side, but Aurora knows a completely different side of Adriana, too.
Adriana forced a small smile.
"Aurora, you’re not going to be in a coma. Don’t say weird things."
Aurora tilted her head.
"But if I am, you’ll tell me your secret then, right?"
Adriana sighed and flicked Aurora’s forehead lightly.
"Stop saying nonsense. You should go to sleep."
Aurora rubbed her forehead, pouting.
"Fine. But you better not cry alone again, okay?"
Adriana nodded, but Aurora knew it wasn’t a real promise.
After returning to her room, Emily informed Aurora that she bought 10 more houses and a club, as Aurora had asked her to.
$12 million dollars was a huge sum.
So, Aurora wasn’t shocked by the numbers. Instead, she said to Emily,
"Buy 20 more houses and then acquire a profitable repair shop. Hire my father as a manager and give him half of the profits as a salary.
Take a portion of your salary from it too and save the remaining, if possible buy shares from the profit."
Emily nodded.
After the houses were transferred to Adam and Mary, Aurora’s bank account soared to $25 million.
With that, Emily bought another 20 houses and transferred them to Mary and Adam.
Once the bank account reached $45 million, Emily acquired a profitable repair shop for $300,000.
The repair shop was under Aurora’s name, and she asked Emily to urge HR to hire Adam and give him a salary package of $100,000.
Emily efficiently followed Aurora’s orders, and by evening, Adam was beaming.
He had gathered everyone in the hospital room of Aurora and announced with a joyful face,
"I have got a job! And my salary package is..."
