Chapter 266: Chapter 266: Threats

Olivia froze at Aurora’s words, a chill creeping down her spine. Her heart skipped a beat as she processed the story.

Aurora turned to Olivia with a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes.

"You see, sometimes people think their kindness can change someone... but in the end, it’s not the warmth that changes them. It’s the snake’s nature. The snake only wants one thing, and it won’t hesitate to take it when the time comes."

"You’re not saying..." Olivia began, but she couldn’t finish the thought.

Aurora raised an eyebrow, giving her a playful yet cold smile.

"What I’m saying is simple. Sometimes, the people we try to help or change don’t need our help. They have their own plans, and we end up being their prey in the process."

Olivia paused for a moment after hearing Aurora’s words. She took a deep breath and slowly nodded, as if everything was starting to make sense.

"I understand what you’re saying," Olivia finally spoke, her voice calm but firm. "I won’t try to change anyone anymore. I won’t raise any more snakes."

Aurora smiled, pleased with Olivia’s response. She could see the shift in her attitude, a quiet determination that made her feel like she wasn’t alone in this fight.

Olivia then looked at her with a slight smirk.

"But I always had control over the snake," she added, her eyes narrowing slightly.

"And if it ever dares to attack me, I’ll make sure to strike at the 7-point location—where its life is concerned. Don’t worry, I’ve been looking over a lot of things for the past three years. I’ll understand whatever is going on—even if you don’t say anything."

Aurora chuckled softly, genuinely impressed by Olivia’s confidence. "You’ve grown smarter, haven’t you?"

"Of course," Olivia replied, her grin widening. "How could I not? If I weren’t, how could I understand the things you say, or see through Eleanor’s little schemes?"

Her tone grew sharper as she added,

"She’s just a green tea bitch. And I admit it. But you know what? There’s no one better than me at being a green tea bitch. If she dares to use those manipulative tricks on me or my family, I’ll make sure to reply in the same language."

Aurora laughed out loud, genuinely delighted. "Your green tea has finally resulted in something meaningful!"

Olivia narrowed her eyes, a mischievous glint appearing in them. "How do you know so much about Eleanor?"

Aurora leaned back, crossing her arms and smiling slyly.

"It’s pretty transparent. Just look at the way she looks at the house, the way she watches everything. It’s obvious what she’s planning. Only you and Theodore were foolish enough to think she had pure intentions. She’s just using you both."

Olivia rolled her eyes at that. "Well, all the other members of the Water family think she’s a lucky charm, too."

Aurora raised an eyebrow, then shook her head. "Lucas doesn’t think so."

Olivia froze, her brow furrowing. "Lucas doesn’t like Eleanor?"

"Not at all," Aurora replied. "I think he saw through her long ago."

Olivia stood there, frowning in confusion. "But why? Eleanor’s never done anything to him. He doesn’t even talk to her. He’s always kept his distance from her."

Aurora shrugged. "Maybe Lucas is smarter than we think."

A thoughtful silence fell over them as Olivia mulled over that.

She didn’t understand why Lucas hated Eleanor, but now, hearing it from Aurora, it made a little more sense. She slowly nodded, agreeing with the possibility.

"You might be right," Olivia said quietly. "Lucas is probably the smartest one of all of us."

Aurora smiled and patted her friend on the back. "Maybe. But it’s not worth overthinking."

With that, Aurora stood up and headed toward her room.

It was the weekend, and there was no school. She had some time to herself, so she decided to go on a shopping spree.

It had been a while since she had picked out clothes for herself and dressed up.

The thought of it made her excited, so she quickly changed her appearance, determined not to get caught up in any drama today.

She didn’t want anyone recognizing her at the mall and causing a scene like they usually did.

When she arrived at the nearby shopping mall, she felt a wave of relief wash over her.

This time, no one was staring at her, no one was causing trouble.

She could just shop and enjoy herself.

She picked out a few outfits, trying on different styles and colors, and ended up buying clothes she loved.

It was refreshing not to be bothered by the usual drama.

Once her shopping was done, she headed out of the mall, feeling content with her new purchases.

As she stepped outside, she sighed with relief. She’d learned her lesson.

From now on, she’d make sure to change her appearance whenever she entered her own mall. The last thing she needed was another mess.

Back at her apartment, she quickly changed into a dress for the party. She looked at herself in the mirror, adjusting her veil and makeup, feeling ready for the evening.

As soon as she finished getting ready, her phone rang. It was Emily.

"The car’s waiting downstairs," Emily said through the phone.

Aurora smiled and nodded. "Thanks, I’ll be right down."

She used a secret passage in her room to get to the apartment downstairs without being seen. When she reached the car, she got inside, ready for the night ahead.

The car drove through the city, and before long, they arrived at the Richardson’s booked Hotel, Midnight Park, the venue for the party.

The hotel was grand, lit up with sparkling lights. The sound of music and chatter drifted out from inside as the car pulled up to the entrance.

She stepped out of the car and into the hotel, her heels clicking against the floor as she walked toward the entrance.

Emily went forward and personally confirmed Aurora’s identification this time. Once it was over, she called over Aurora, and soon they entered the hotel.

Entering the hall, Aurora’s eyes scanned the crowd of high-powered investors, millionaires, and billionaires mingling with each other.

As she made her way through the crowd, a man with blonde hair and sharp black eyes approached her.

He smiled broadly, but there was something too polished about his demeanor, something forced.

"Ms. Dawn!" he said, his voice smooth but too eager.

"It’s been a long while since I’ve had the pleasure of seeing you. Would you honor me with a dance?"

Aurora raised an eyebrow, her smile polite but reserved.

She had no intention of getting involved with this man, especially not after hearing that line.

"Thank you, but I’m not interested in dancing," she replied with a soft but firm tone.

The man’s smile faltered for a brief moment, but he quickly recovered.

"Ah, well, I am the eldest son of the Richardson family," he said, this time emphasizing the words as if they should matter more to her. "If you follow me, I can make sure you become a billionaire too. I have the power to make that happen, Ms. Dawn."

Aurora’s eyes narrowed slightly as she stared at him, amusement flickering across her face.

She was used to hearing such lines from people trying to get into her favor, but this man was being too obvious about it.

"I don’t need anyone’s help to become a billionaire," she said, her voice light, but with an undeniable edge.

"With my own investments, I can easily make that happen."

The man paused, his expression stiffening slightly, as if her words caught him off guard.

He seemed to struggle for a moment before forcing a polite smile.

"I see," he said, though there was a hint of frustration in his eyes.

"But still, I am the eldest son of the Richardson family. You may want to reconsider."

Aurora’s smile remained cool, unfazed by his words.

"I understand," she said slowly, not giving him the satisfaction of being impressed. "But I’m still not interested in dancing."

Though it might seem that they were talking about dancing, in reality, they were talking about the sides Aurora was going to take.

The man’s eyes flickered with something like annoyance, but he quickly masked it.

"Well, then," he said, his voice lowering slightly, taking on a more threatening edge. "You should watch your steps going forward. If you dare join my younger brother’s party, you might regret your decision."

Aurora paused before chuckling,

"You truly don’t know me, do you... Mister, eldest son of the Richardson family? I hate threats. If you dare to give me one, I dare to defy you."

Hearing Aurora’s words, the man’s expression turned ugly, and he glared at Aurora.

"If you dare to defy me... I will make sure to make you bankrupt. Miss Dawn, you don’t know... when many billionaires team up, a small boat like you is destined to drown."

He was threatening to bankrupt Aurora and break her capital chain.
