Chapter 923: Chapter 216: The Bloody Truth

"I apologize, Your Holiness, I have no intention of interfering with the internal affairs of the temple, but I just think it’s such a waste to execute a young and talented priestess so easily. Let’s set aside the question of whether or not the descendants of Plutini really made improvements to the ’War Song’ says, the ’War Song’ could be very important to the Kingdom." His Majesty the King said with a wry smile, addressing the Holy Father Brut: "Putting aside the historical doubts, let’s start from reality. Plutini was claimed to be a mythical priest and, for more than three hundred years, his descendants have continued the priestly tradition solely through their bloodline. What kind of genius must that be? For such a genius priestly bloodline, shouldn’t we preserve what we can?"

"Your Majesty! Do you really not care about the great harm the ’War Song’ might bring to Beamon?" His Holiness roared angrily: "Even if the descendants of Plutini have improved the ’War Song,’ the temple absolutely forbids the propagation of this kind of war song!"

"Three hundred and twenty-four years." His Majesty the King said, counting on his fingers: "Lord Mourinho was right, if it were harmful, the descendants of Plutini would have caused it long ago."

"A wise decision." Liu was deeply impressed and gave a thumbs-up, recognizing that only two men dared to face the historical truth with a spirit of questioning. Although they had grudges against him, Liu couldn’t negate his appreciation for them.

Actually, whether Qian Qian’s testimony is needed is no longer important now, Liu had already realized that the ’War Song’ was definitely not as simple as imagined. At thousands of years old, Master Qi Dan of the Rhine Tribe was a living dictionary; he surely knew the truth of the past regarding the war song and everything about Plutini. His silence meant that there must be something significant behind it.

"Let’s not forget tonight’s testimony, my respected Richard!" Wolf elder Redkenap looked at Liu with a brilliant smile.

"Your Holiness, our only request is to spare this Miss Qian Qian’s life. As for amending the codex, everyone knows that’s simply impossible!" Helen glanced at Wolf elder and then fixed her gaze on His Holiness, speaking earnestly: "How rare it is for a priestess to have triplet magical pets! Can’t you make a strategic adjustment just for that reason? After all, a life is so precious!"

"That’s out of the question! A heretic is a heretic!" Wolf elder Redkenap scoffed from the side: "The only way to remove the status of heretic is to prove that what she claims is true!"

"Release her, Richard has just agreed," His Majesty the King waved to the two imperial knights.

Finally, the two imperial knights released Qian Qian, whom they had been holding up for half a day.

"Please allow me to take my leave first." Liu bowed to the higher-ups, threw a glance at Moer and Helen, and quickly took Qian Qian back to the box in the auxiliary stands.

Cui Beixi instructor and several priests of the Northeast Temple were engaged in enthusiastic discussion when they saw Liu enter furiously with the civilian priestess who owned triplet magical pets; they all paused, stunned.

"Richard, why do you seem a bit unhappy? Oh right, we were just wondering, since when did Moer become so powerful?" the bewitching snake instructor hooked her arm through Liu’s and asked cheerfully: "Why have we never heard you mention it? Having magic as a priestess is a big deal! Isn’t that also confidential? How could you make it public?"

"Confidential? Only in the Bimon Kingdom it’s confidential." Liu scoffed: "Moer had defeated the Holy Vatican’s Dragon Knight Gaxia in Dorott more than a month ago, and the fact that this news hasn’t gotten back yet just shows how isolated Sabak is."

"What?" Cui Beixi instructor and the other northeastern priests almost fainted: "Why didn’t you say so sooner! I must report this to the Great Shaman Qi Dan!"

"Suit yourself," Liu replied indifferently, shrugging.

Cui Beixi gave Liu a curious look but still got up, opening the box door just as a Bay Crocodile warrior was about to enter. The bewitching snake instructor froze; she found it odd that a court etiquette warrior would come to the Northeast Province’s box.

"Richard!" The Bay Crocodile warrior, upon entering, snapped to attention before Liu and said respectfully, "His Majesty has arranged a new box just for you, would you please come with me?"

Liu and Helen exchanged glances, picked up Guoguo, who was running around wildly with her younger siblings, signalled their followers with a flick of the finger, and followed the Bay Crocodile warrior out of the box, leaving Cui Beixi and the other priests baffled.

The new box was a bit higher than the one for the Northeast Province, and the huge frame of golden nanmu wood demonstrated an unparalleled grandeur. The floor was carpeted with velvet, and the entrance was adorned with court chandeliers and Rhine Tribe emblems. Liu estimated that the box was meant for members of the royal family below the level of prince.

Upon opening the door, his guess became reality. The large box, about one hundred meters in length, was divided into three broad steps, each with a wide view of the competiion area below. Velvet curtains and screens created three semi-enclosed spaces, and in the highest section, there stood several Cat-people maids at the ready, next to a large liquor cabinet. Rich animal hides covered the plush leather seats of the salon, orderly in their arrangement, and there was even a enclosed area seemingly for private repose.
