Chapter 853: Chapter 192: Sword Chant Ultimate Skill_2

But as he looked into the Ice Phoenix Tang Beryljenna’s plaintive eyes, Richard somehow found himself nodding in agreement, while his second and third sons were even more excited, clapping their hands and cheering joyfully.

Richard took his second and third sons to his own mountain cave and dug out two little bellybands to put on them. He stuffed a big handful of snacks into their pockets and specially admonished them, from now on, without Daddy’s permission, they were absolutely not allowed to transform on their own.

The two sons nodded obediently. A compliant son was truly heaven’s most precious gift to a father. Overjoyed, Old Richard hugged them tightly, kissing them repeatedly, and playfully poked their tender little cheeks with his stubble before reluctantly handing them over to the Ice Phoenix Tang Beryljenna.

"You!" As soon as the Ice Phoenix Tang Beryljenna left, Elder Andulan immediately berated Richard like a disappointed teacher, "I’ve seen my share of fools, but you’re top of the list this year! I think you might as well not bother with the National Ritualistic Olympics—just go compete in the Idiot Olympics instead! You’re a shoo-in for champion! Do you have any idea how clever the Ice Phoenix is? That’s ice and snow intelligence! Or did you think she couldn’t guess what’s happening?"

"You didn’t think to hide these kids better, and now look, the cat’s out of the bag!" Taige added fuel to the fire, saying darkly, "Just to be clear, if there’s a fight, I’ve got your back, but I’m not getting involved if knives come out. I’m still healing, and I can’t handle a two-on-one."

"The problem is, these two boys were never going to stay hidden with so many people knowing!" Richard glanced at the two of them. "Do you think I didn’t see it coming? It’s absolutely impossible for Ice Phoenix Tang Beryljenna to not have her suspicions! But the Ice Phoenix is gentle by nature, so I’m taking a gamble. I bet she won’t dare go to the snow mountain cave and crack open the Phoenix Egg. Anyway, I’ve already warned the boys not to transform and give themselves away."

"I just don’t get it, why wouldn’t Tang Beryljenna dare crack open the Phoenix Egg?" Taige was genuinely puzzled. "Besides, you have a Chimaera Egg, which should be different from a Phoenix Egg, right? With the Ice Phoenix’s power, maybe she doesn’t even need to crack the egg to be sure!"

"Bah! What are you thinking? After being wrapped in Ice Crystal for so long, whatever egg it was, is now just a lump of ice! All life functions are gone, so what’s there to distinguish? If I gave you two newborns to pick from, could you tell which one was yours? A Phoenix Egg can’t be hatched by normal means anyway, unless of course you use the Blood Feeding Method! What can the Ice Phoenix Tang Beryljenna do with her suspicions? What can she prove? Her children won’t survive in her hands anyway, so to prove her own children became Blood Infants?" Richard said with a bitter smile, "She would never shatter the last bit of fantasy she has in her heart. I saw it clearly in her eyes. It’s not that she doesn’t want to verify, it’s that she fears the consequences if the Phoenix Egg is real. My second and third sons are her last hope, her mental anchor. Destroy that hope, and no one can live with it. Who could withstand a second blow?"

"You think too highly of yourself," Taige snorted through his nose. "If it were me, I’d crack that egg open to see for myself. I refuse to believe that you can’t tell by the eggshell or embryo!"

"You’ve never been a parent," Richard patted Taige’s shoulder with profound meaning. "If one day you become a father, standing in the Ice Phoenix’s shoes, to damage your child’s body for a hypothetical possibility, I guarantee you couldn’t do it. No matter the outcome of the verification, it would destroy all your dreams, and no matter how brave you are, you wouldn’t have the courage."

Caught off-guard, Taige lapsed into silence. With a faint smile, Richard patted his shoulder again and went out to practice his combat skills.

"Richard is getting better and better at reading people," Elder Andulan mused, smacking his lips and shaking his head, then muttering to himself in a low voice, "Ah... cut and yet unsevered, a mess beyond sorting..."

Taige sat stunned in the council hall for a long while before coming to his senses. When he stepped out of the City Lord’s Mansion, he saw the boss, stark naked, placing basket after basket of weapons on Red Earth Square, while the local militia was shooing away the onlookers. Not considering himself an onlooker, Taige swaggered over, feeling a bit puzzled inside. The boss, regardless of the weather, was usually seen practicing punches early in the morning, but actually, he had never seen him practice with any kind of weapon. With his strength and Agility, he didn’t really need any technique—an overhand swing of his club, and no one could withstand it.

What’s he learning today? Taige chuckled to himself.

The two Fairy Dragons and Moer continued metallurgy deep underground, while Ning Yu and Helen, along with a bevy of flashy and beautiful Maids, laughed and watched as the Overlord seemed to be going out of his mind. This time, Richard had fetched the heavy-duty stuff from the armory: battle-axes, spiked maces, armor-piercing hammers, and Viking broadswords—all confiscated from human mercenaries in the previous Fei City defensive battles.

Feeling the gaze of so many beauties on him, even Richard found it difficult to back down from the Taige he was riding. He hadn’t planned to make such a show of it, just preparing for the Ritualistic Olympics, and actually, Old Richard was quite curious to test the mettle of the Diamond family, the Mourinhos. But before he knew it, his practice had drawn a crowd of onlookers.
