Chapter 841: Chapter 188 Mischievous Son_2
The people around nodded affirmatively together.
"Then explain to me," Liu Zhenhan glared at Ning Yu as he glanced at the elder Andulan, "how did a baby with only one wing fly away?"
"The two brothers held hands, left arm linked with right arm, then each flapped one side of their wings and flew out of here..." Yi Tiao pointed toward the lord’s great hall and then toward the bamboo forest at the end of the Red Earth Highland. "They turned into birds and flew in there. I really, really didn’t catch on. There was no Elemental Fluctuation on them at first; the moment they held hands, whoosh, they flew away. How would I know these kids had such an ability? I’ve never seen such a thing!"
"Damn! They can fly like that?" Liu Zhenhan furiously rubbed his face and grabbed his hair, baring his teeth as he demanded, "Search! Turn that bamboo forest upside down for me!"
"We’ve more than turned it upside down!" Yi Tiao lamented. "We’ve combed through every bit of the jade! Bellamy brought dozens of Iron-clad Gold Mastiffs and they’ve already sniffed through the bamboo. Hippo O’Neal and the House Clan have swept through the entire Sanggan River! Isn’t Moer learning metallurgy underground with Ruona? Helen just went to call her. When she comes back, let her use the ’Eye of Truth’ to take a look."
"After those two little things flew into the bamboo forest, no one has seen them fly out again, yet we’ve really scoured that forest, mobilizing so many people, and still not a shadow was found!" Ning Yu kept sighing.
"Could they have been dragged away by a Cave Wolf?" Liu Zhenhan went pale, sweat bead forming on his forehead.
"We have nearly fifty Iron-clad Gold Mastiffs in the jade frontier. Not to mention one or two Cave Wolves, even a whole pack wouldn’t dare come near!" Elder Andulan protested. "These wolves and badgers are all too cunning; they change their paths immediately upon smelling the scent of the mastiffs. Just last month, there was a Marsupial Lion that recklessly made its way to within twenty miles of the frontier, settled in a strawberry shrubbery, and was literally torn to shreds by the mastiffs! I can absolutely guarantee that not just nearby, but even fifty miles out, you won’t even find a single wolf hair!"
Liu Zhenhan thought about it, and indeed, the forty-seven Iron-clad Gold Mastiffs at home were particularly territorial. Amongst them, there were two rare ones marked with a red sickle and hammer on their butts, each weighing nearly half a ton with snow-white long fur that could gnaw through iron chains as though munching on soybeans. They weren’t just threats to Cave Wolves; they sometimes dragged adult bears back from the snowy mountains.
Lost in his thoughts, Liu Zhenhan saw Moer, Helen, and the two Fairy Dragons come down from the Red Earth Highland. From afar, he could hear Daisy and Ruona chirping, "Where are they? Where are they? Where’s Mourinho’s son who looks like us?"
Seeing Richard glare harshly at them, the two Fairy Dragons finally fell silent. Fortunately, Gortani was taken by the swan high priest to Caiyu City for healing, otherwise today’s comment would have really stirred up trouble.
"Quick! Moer, help look and see where these two little beasts are hiding!" Liu Zhenhan waved at Moer in exasperation.
"Ah..." Ning Yu sighed and wiped the sweat from Liu Zhenhan’s forehead with a handkerchief. "I’ve already brought over all the awakened ’Eye of Truth’ from the Yufrey clan of Butterfly Beamon. It was no use."
"Try again." Liu Zhenhan also sighed.
A large crowd accompanied Moer right up to the bamboo forest, surrounding it on all fronts. This stretch of bamboo grove was much smaller than last year, a new growth since it first bloomed. Covering several hundred acres just the year before, it now spanned only about four or five acres. Perhaps Korina had poured too much of the ’Life Spring’ before, as the Buddha belly bamboos here were extraordinarily thick right from the shoots, with lush, drippingly verdant leaves. A small path carved out in the middle, paved with cobblestones, meandered deep inside, with several homemade white gauze swings and Stone Statues nestled around, creating an unspeakably serene and tranquil ambiance.
As Liu Zhenhan helplessly surveyed this bamboo forest, his vision allowed him to see from one end to the other. In this newly opened grove, without any fallen leaves, it was not just about spotting two children half a meter tall; he could even count the exact number of chicklings in the bird nests on the branches. Guoguo was sticking her bottom out as she burrowed into a guinea pig hole, energetically pushing further in, while the small piglet Katusha gritted her teeth and pushed against the visible half of Guoguo’s round, protruding buttocks.
"See anything?" Liu Zhenhan asked Moer.
His mood really was indescribable, a mix of joy and anxiety, like a farmer whose son was about to marry a princess, unsure of what to say. Happy that his two Blood Infant sons might not be as simple as he thought, yet anxious about why these children, without any trace of Elemental Fluctuation, still possessed such formidable abilities. Could they genuinely be freaks?
"Nothing unusual!" Moer frowned. "I really can’t understand how there could be an ’Invisibility Technique’ undetectable by the ’Eye of Truth’! It’s incomprehensible!"
"I can’t figure it out either!" Liu Zhenhan clenched his teeth and gestured with both hands to the militia around him: "Chop down all the bamboo, then dig three feet into the ground! If they’re not here, turn the whole place upside down!"
Gude was chewing on a bamboo leaf nearby, making a crunching sound. When he heard his boss say this, his face instantly turned into a roasted bird in an oven, "You can’t be serious, boss? But these green bamboos are so tender!!"
"Are you sure these two kids really went into the bamboo forest and never came out?" Liu Zhenhan snatched a long knife from Fat Luo, cast a reproachful look at Gude, and surveyed everyone.
Everyone nodded, and the mammoth strongmen all drew their long knives simultaneously, instantly filling the area outside the bamboo forest with dazzling blade light.
"Chop!" Liu Zhenhan shouted.
"Daddy~~" Two crisp childish voices rang out.
Guoguo, who was vigorously digging in a guinea pig hole, suddenly popped out of the hole with her face smeared with black mud, holding a handful of bamboo rice. The little parrot perched on a bamboo branch, grooming its feathers, screeched as if it had been scalded by boiling water, "I’ve seen ghosts~ I’ve seen ghosts~," and fluttered away clumsily.
Liu Zhenhan and everyone else were dumbfounded.
As soon as these two calls were heard, most people figured out the direction, and the militiamen with high martial skills had already pinpointed exactly where the noise was coming from, Liu Zhenhan was no exception.
Clear, childish laughter echoed through the bamboo forest, one after another.
"Damn!" Liu Zhenhan stuck his knife in the ground and walked incredulously up to Guoguo.
Next to the guinea pig hole that Guoguo and Katusha were digging at, there were two ordinary-looking Buddha belly bamboos leaning against each other, growing together, swaying freely with the light breeze, their stalks lush and vibrant. On them hung unpeeled black bamboo sheaths, and on the ground, a bit of yellowish bamboo root was exposed, with a bunch of ants dragging a huge caterpillar over and across it.
These two Buddha belly bamboos were particularly inconspicuous in the bamboo forest; there were many similar bamboos crisscrossing each other around, but these two stood unusually close, their tips almost touching.
The voices of the two youngsters came from these two bamboos.
Liu Zhenhan racked his brains but couldn’t figure out how these two little creatures had managed to get inside the bamboos. Could it be the "Bone Shrinking Technique"? But that would be too exaggerated, right? The Sea Clan’s octopus warriors could use the "Bone Shrinking Technique" to squeeze through a hole the size of a Gold Coin, but Liu Zhenhan didn’t think his two chubby Blood Infant sons could as well.
"Daddy~~" The two childish voices laughed giggly, resounding throughout the bamboo forest.
Guoguo jumped onto Liu Zhenhan’s shoulder, and they stared at each other, rolling their eyes. With their combined intelligence, they clearly couldn’t fathom what was happening around them, surrounded by a circle of people equally rolling their eyes in amazement at the two bamboos.
"Could it be like the Skade Clan’s Cicada People, with the racial ability ’Cordyceps’? Turning into little insects and burrowing into the bamboos?" Moer suddenly realized, "No wonder the ’Eye of Truth’ couldn’t find them. They were hiding inside the bamboo stems."
