Chapter 771: Chapter 168: Joy and Tears_1

The pitiful Tide Lord Gerein lay on the ground, moaning weakly, his back was adorned with numerous neatly arranged deep charred holes, blood stained the magma stone slab from the "Frozen Top Oolong". The ghostly Xu Dela was lying on its body, crying incessantly. The sight saddened both Liu and the little girl Moer, even though they had held grudges against Tide Lord Gerein for consuming butterflies and cicada people for thousands of years. No matter how long-standing their grudges were, it was unbearable to see Gerein in this state.

Liu quickly retreated with everyone back to the slope after putting Gerein into the Space Ring. After all, the "Frozen Top Oolong" could not last too long and it was always not safe to stay above the magma.

The Evil-eye Tyrant still hovered in the sky like a meat ball, following Liu everywhere without uttering a word. Even the six-winged Flame Demon, with only two wings left, was drifting above Liu’s sky. All the time, its gigantic eye stared at Liu, which gave him goosebumps.

Liu was itching to kill it but could do nothing about it. After battling with the tough Flame Emperor, his top-notch assassin was able to level up, but most of its mana had been drained due to the prior "Grand Impression Flame Sculpting". Therefore, the idea of killing the Evil-eye Tyrant, which could single-handedly resist the full force of the Hell Black Dragon, sounded like a delusion.

The two Fairy Dragons could try to fight, but Liu did not dare to proceed since they were wary of the Tyrant’s special mind-manipulating ability.

As soon as Liu landed on the slope, a crowd rushed over to check on him. Liu had to swear angrily to silence them. Two green monks jogged over to examine Gerein’s injuries.

The Evil-eye Tyrant, like an unshakable ghost, followed them into the air above the slope. Its baleful gigantic eye and crowded teeth sent shivers down everyone’s spine. Prince Moore, Benitez, and a group of Blood Elves knights kneeled to pay respect to the Evil-eye Tyrant.

"How is it?" Liu signaled Nedved while keeping an eye on the two Mantis Monks.

Nedved, the Centaur archer, did not understand why the Three-legged Golden Toad, as big as a rhinoceros, lay docilely beside him, puffing its belly and croaking affectionately. Liu did not have time to ask him about it. He focused on guarding against the Evil-eye Tyrant and saving Gerein as soon as possible.

Noticing Liu’s signal, Nedved immediately understood and held five feathered arrows from the nearly empty quiver behind him. Xiao Cui also prepared his crossbow, and along with the Three-legged Golden Toad, quietly watched the Evil Eye Tyrant hovering in the sky.

After a preliminary check, the two Mantis Monks shook their heads regretfully, "The human-faced snake won’t last for more than a few minutes. It’s severely damaged. It’s already a miracle that it managed to hold on till now."

Xu Dela wept even harder. The undead don’t shed tears, but his sorrow was visible. Gerein could no longer move. The only signs of life left were the slight movements in its mouth as it repetitively muttered Jaina’s name.

"Although they are magical beasts, their love is among the most genuine I’ve ever seen." Liu said, tearing up, overwhelmed by their plight.

"Can’t we do something to help them? Do we just have to watch them vanish in the wind?" Tears welled up in Moer’s eyes and spilled onto her cheeks.

"The Death Form is a rare occurrence, my dear girl." Helen lamented, gently holding Moer’s shoulder, "The fact Xu Dela could become a spectral shadow is already a miracle. Let’s not be greedy for another one."

"To separate lovers forever is the cruelest punishment." Liu sighed deeply.

"If people of the Aegean Continent don’t understand something, they can ask humans. If humans don’t understand, they can ask the Beamon priests." Liu recited a local saying to describe the vast knowledge of the Beamon priests. It sounded ironic coming from him, considering his own illiteracy.

"Richard must have figured out a solution." Ning Yu commented confidently.

"Oh? Is there a way to save Gerein?" All eyes quickly turned to Liu.

Liu beckoned Figo, the sturdy Whale Warrior. Figo, pointing to his nose, looked around to confirm if the boss was indeed calling him and promptly obeyed Liu’s command.

Liu pulled out the giant sword hanging at Figo’s waist, and with it raised high, he jumped and plunged it deep into Gerein. With a sizzling sound, everyone winced slightly. The movement was quick, like a pulse.

Nobody expected this to be Liu’s method of healing the Tide Lord.

The ailing Tide Lord’s eyes shot open in disbelief. It stared at Liu, as its fractured claws gripped tightly onto the sword blade, creating a deafening noise. Its breath came in ragged gasps before halting abruptly. As its head and claws fell heavily, the Tide Lord drew its final breath.
