Chapter 687: Chapter 144 Communication between the Two Shores_1
The date for the "Sunlight Baptism Ceremony" was approaching, and without any hint, the lord was secretly conducting some covert research. The ladies of Feilengcui were completely unaware of this.
Good news after good news kept coming.
Figo, the powerful whale warrior, had indeed met expectations during his sweeping raid of the underwater town. He had managed to acquire enough Malong Crystals from the Kou Tao Merfolk to create six magic teleportation arrays. This represented more than half of the merfolk’s entire stock. The chivalrous Banilou warrior didn’t annihilate them all; he plundered their other treasures instead.
The liking for shiny gems was not exclusive to the Dragon Clan. In fact, all intelligent beings in this world harbored a particular fondness for jewels. The Kou Tao Merfolk were no exception. Aside from the Malong Crystals, these unimpressive looking ugmo-fish had many more eye-catching treasures hidden away; such as hundreds of large, pitch-black pearls, a dozen monk statues carved from carnelian, and a dozen or more crystal columns of pure, jam-purple. A gigantic black figure laughing uproariously suddenly enveloped the Strait of Gibraltar.
The poor Kou Tao Merfolk had never had any predators in the Underground World until now. They hadn’t been visited in thousands of years and today, they were raided by the most powerful water warrior of this plane. This level of plundering left any aquatic race utterly disheartened.
As the head of the Imperial Guard in the Sea Clan’s palace, Figo had an extraordinary feel for valuable treasures. The Kou Tao Merfolk had no way of hiding their treasures from Baron Banilou.
Seeing these spoils of war, Liu Zhenhan couldn’t help his fury. The Kou Tao merfolk had picked the worst of their treasures to placate him. The quality of the Malong Crystals couldn’t compare to that of the purple crystals, and it was apparent that the coral beauties didn’t align with the merfolk’s aesthetic taste. No wonder the merfolk were so generous. Liu Zhenhan was under the illusion they were ruined. Fortunately, he had been more ruthless, or he would’ve been fooled.
These purple crystals were far more lustrous than the Malong Crystals. After careful inspection, Ruona and Daisy unanimously determined that these crystals were the renowned Div Crystals, the prehistoric form of the Memory Crystal. A crystal ball made from Memory Crystal could capture and record an image sequence ranging from 10 to 100 frames depending on its size. According to the outline of the current Div Crystal column, the ground crystal ball would be able to record a full hour or two, accumulating tens of thousands of continuous frames and presuming the distance was suitable, even sound could be recorded.
The pitch-black pearls were obviously a special product of the Underground River, deep and mysterious at a glance like a starry sky, exuding a subtle yet unquenchable pleasant fragrance that only got stronger with exposure to air.
A dozen or so statues carved from what seemed like carnelian, representing monks in seated posture, were nothing surprising. Elder Andulan had one, and the Far East monks that Liu Zhenhan had rescued from Ink Crystal Valley all wore them around their necks, albeit most were not as large.
According to the elder, this article, called the "Crab Relic" in the Far East Silk Continent and known as the "Falcon Sea" on the Aegean Continent, was formed within the shells of large crabs that had lived for many years. The only use of a "Falcon Sea" was to significantly enhance the meditation of the monks. The power of prayer, with the aid of the "Falcon Sea," became more refined and enduring.
As someone from the Sea Clan, the "Falcon Sea" on Elder Andulan’s neck, tied with red thread, was only about the size of a fingertip. He had obtained this from the shell of a dead Gold Sand Emperor Crab during his travels in the Eastern Sea. The "Falcon Sea" collected by the Kou Tao Merfolk were generally the size of eggs and the smallest was the size of a toe. This thoroughly defeated Elder Andulan.
The number one enemy of the undead race was the St.Paul Church priests’ "Holy Purification". Monks were initially helpless against the undead race, but once they possessed the "Falcon Sea" for prayer amplification, even the previously vulnerable monks gained a formidable destructive power against the undead.
The elder and his disciples spent a good deal of time dividing up the loot without any decorum, prompting Liu to mutter repeatedly, "Elder, you are behaving inappropriately."
To the elder, Liu Zhenhan was merely spouting nonsense, because, as the lord, he didn’t understand the importance of the "Crab Relic," or "Falcon Sea," to a monk.
Better to kill one enemy soldier than ten. Although the Kou Tao Merfolk weren’t impoverished, Liu still did not intend to let them off. He wondered if these creatures were secretly hiding other good items, so he specifically instructed Figo to raid them again once the storm had passed.
Although the black pearls, Div Memory Crystals, and the Falcon Sea were rarer than the Mailman Crystals, it was the latter that provided Liu Zhenhan the most significant help at the moment. With plenty of Mailman Crystals, Ruona managed to construct "Wind Tunnel Teleportation Arrays" in both Boulder Valley of the Furious Flame Continent’s west and the Scorching Flame Valley in the north, accomplishing the effect of shrinking miles of distance into a few steps.
These two Giant Valleys only experienced minor harassment from the Fallen Elves Aerial Scouts. A large-scale siege did not occur, which shows the underlying precept of the Fallen Elves strategy – Rather than harm ten fingers, better to just cut one off. Thus, the strategic alliance of the Lava, Flame, Rolling Stone, and Scorching Flame Giant Valleys and Feilengcui had been fully established. In the battle everyone could see, Liu Zhenhan won the favor of all the indigenous people in the Underground Flaming Continent with their actions.
