Chapter 622: Chapter 132: Evil Spirits and Demons_1

"The world of blood and fire, that’s a man’s world." -------------------------- Said Liu Zhenhan.

*********************************************************************

Standing in front of Liu Zhenhan were a group of Tauren from the Buer Tribe, each holding an old oil lamp and supporting themselves with a crude walking stick.

There were eight Tauren altogether. Their skin was a misty white with a hint of blue. They were dressed in tattered clothes, as ragged as cotton scraps. They were hunched over, their golden fur had turned into an eerie shade of grey that fluttered rhythmically.

What was even stranger was that their bodies appeared transparent under the dim light emitted by the lamps in their hands. After focusing on them for a moment, they would appear faint, as if existing and non-existing things were passing through their eyes and minds.

Liu Zhenhan’s gaze swept across them, the look in his eyes resembled that of newly honed Viking heavy sword, filled with an undeniable desire for destruction.

No wonder Elder Tang Jin persistently refused to meet them. They were afraid that Liu Zhenhan would encounter these extreme outliers amongst the Tauren - the "Soul Wanderers".

The so-called "Soul Wanderers" are, in fact, Undead Tauren.

No matter the race, becoming an immortal being is not an easy task. Human mages who specialize in Undead Magic need a specific ritual to create an undead creature. Drow Elves use Dark Magic to summon undead beings from another plane of existence, although those undead have a summoning limit and are not as pure as "Soul Wanderers".

In Bimon, there is a saying that refers to "demonic spirits". The "demonic bull" refers to a Buer Tribe minotaur who, after dying unnaturally, for unknown reasons, becomes a ghost - or in the common language of the Aegean Continent, has a chance to become undead. The "snake god" refers to Medusa - after their unnatural death, some snake-men of the Medusa Tribe will also become god’s servants for some mysterious reasons.

Undead, this word associated with countless evils, is considered taboo in any race on the Aegean Continent. Even humans, recognized as the most pragmatic, do not tolerate the existence of undead, which goes against nature, within their societal structures.

This is of course no different within Bimon society.

The trauma and terror left by the "Burning Legion" formed by the undead created by the Demon Clan on the Aegean Continent a thousand years ago will not fade even after another ten thousand years.

The chance of a minotaur becoming a "Soul Wanderer", or an Undead Minotaur, after an unnatural death is extremely low. Only those of high intelligence may have the opportunity to become such when they die unnaturally. The same goes for Medusa who wish to become god’s servants.

"Soul Wanderers", just like all the undead, are immortal, and retain all the memories from their previous lives. Only elemental power can destroy them as they are immune to physical attacks.

All minotaur "Soul Wanderers" possess the same unique ability - using an enigmatic elemental power called "Ancestor’s Spirit", they emit a resurrection halo that turns a dead minotaur warrior into a senseless and mindless undead warrior, be it a zombie or a skeleton, only capable of following the commands of the "Soul Wanderers".

It should be noted that the power of this resurrection halo is not derived from the war song power of Bimon’s priests. To become a "Soul Wanderer" doesn’t necessarily require one to be a minotaur priest - by strange twist of fate, even a minotaur beggar can become a "Soul Wanderer".

These undead minotaur warriors brought about by the "Soul Wanderers" are a near replica of the undead created by a human specializing in Undead Magic, just that the process is much simpler and convenient for the "Soul Wanderers".

Transforming a fallen warrior into an undead is an intolerable disgrace for any race, especially for the candid and straightforward Buer Tribe minotaurs.

The attitude of Bimon towards these unintentionally formed "Soul Wanderers" is the same as that of humans towards evil Undead Mages - extermination, and thorough extermination at that! The policy had remained unchanged in the Bimon Kingdom since the day the "Soul Wanderers" emerged among the Buer Tribe.

Liu Zhenhan felt goosebumps all over his body, and his beard stood on end as if electrified.

He never thought he would encounter ghosts in broad daylight! Liu Zhenhan let out a low growl in his heart and with a snap of his fingers, a series of weapons were unsheathed around him. The well-trained militiamen immediately surrounded the eight "Soul Wanderers". Nedved’s belt was constantly radiating a white light that extended to the tip of his arrow and body of his bow. The cold white radiance was hovering up and down, and the sharp arrow almost touched the head of a "Soul Wanderer".
