Chapter 573: Chapter 120: The Arrow’s Momentum in the Long Room_3

Even the most foolish person knows what happens when an archer is up close to a superior warrior, especially when facing a Holy Knight.

The two duelists stepped into the middle of the colosseum at the same time, each respectfully acknowledging each other with a warrior’s etiquette. Holy Knight Hua Jin swung his sword twice in the air and then placed it at his brow. The Centaur Archer, Nedved, took out his longbow, held it to his chest, and respectfully bowed to his rival, the Holy Knight.

Seeing this, the elf Mia Hamm hurriedly began to educate her two half-elf sons: "Did you see that? This is our language as archers. When we duel against another archer, we need to shoot one arrow each in front of and behind us to hold our ground, without allowing to back off or evade. If it’s a duel with a warrior, this isn’t necessary...it’s best not to engage in close-quarter combat with a warrior. A mature archer shouldn’t do so, as the radius of a warrior’s weapon attack during close combat is unfavorable to us archers. An archer who fails to keep distance...will end up..."

At this moment, the two duelists in the colosseum turned their backs to each other and took a step back, stopping simultaneously at a distance of twenty yards.

Nedved was dressed like a typical archer, in black steel-studded soft armor. On either side was a deer skin quiver, bow and a shorter strong yew bow slung beside the waist. The bows were elegant with intricate carvings, their grips were polished and shining. On his back hung two deer skin quivers filled with hundreds of colorful arrows, resembling a fanned out peacock’s tail.

Holy Knight Hua Jin now held a falcon-shaped shield, which he had just summoned from his gryphon mount. The falcon-shaped shield had wings on both sides, suitable for both defense and attack — an undoubtedly wise strategy against an archer. Hua Jin chose not to fight on his mount, not out of compassion, but out of concern that it would put the archer at an advantage. Divine Archers are the natural enemies of all infantry, and despite the gryphon’s capabilities, it could not grant him an immortal body. As a high-order Holy Knight of the Oak Leaf Holy Knight Corps, besides possessing magic-resistant armor and Dou Qi, with the additidional protection of a steel shield, any archer - except those equipped with annihilation arrows or heavy crossbow bolts weighing 25 ounces - would find it impossible to breach his metallic defense. If he chose aerial combat, the additional force during a dive could only make the archer’s arrows much more deadly. Ground combat was the better option.

If such a well-guarded high-order knight couldn’t beat an archer within a twenty-yard range, it would indeed be a joke.

"Master, who do you think has the upper hand?" Liu Zhen was enjoying a cigar with Master Puskas.

"I don’t know." Sage Chiao the mage shook his head.

"How could you answer ’I don’t know’? You’re a master, you always foresee the future," Liu Zhen asked in surprise.

"I am not a god, and I am not a witch who peers into a crystal ball all day." Master Puskas rolled his eyes. "Aren’t the Cicada People of Skade among the Bemons good at forecasting the future? You seem very confident, it seems like you’ve already won... Well... Let’s enjoy the show... We’ll know the outcome soon... I hope your man won’t lose..."

The battle between Nedved and Holy Knight Hua Jin had begun. Even though Nedved had placed his longbow back into its holster, Hua Jin did not let his guard down. He immediately covered his upper body and half of his face with the falcon-shaped shield, leaving only his eyes exposed. He watched Nedved carefully and then, seeing he was making no move, Hua Jin let out a cold grunt, took several heavy strides forward and used a powerful technique unique to knights, known as "Brutal Charge". He zoomed forward, his feet scraping the ground, sending up a whisp of black smoke as his sword aimed directly towards the Centaur Archer. He skated forward as if he was on ice.

The stands erupted with cheers and outrageous curses.

The way Holy Knight Hua Jin approached this attack was both cautious and cunning. Regardless of the effectiveness of the Brutal Charge and how it put the archer in close proximity, has pressed against a warrior, even the most famous Elf Divine Archer, they all shared the same fate.

Nedved rolled sideways to evade the Brutal Charge. The Beamon, being known for their agility and speed, was exceptionally quick on their feet. After several rolls, he was roughly about ten yards away ----------------- a dodging range acceptable in a duel. According to the Beamon’s running speed, creating a fifty-yard gap wouldn’t be a problem, but it would be considered as forfeiting the duel.

Hua Jin pressed hard on his momentum, his bladeless long sword slashing out a white sword light, sweeping towards the Centaur Archer. With no choice, Nedved had to roll again. The Holy Knight, with a backhand swing, released another sword aura towards where Nedved had landed, accurately predicting his opponent’s moves. Just as Nedved was about to stand up, the sword light had already reached him. Even though his body was flexible, the inertial force from the sharp, abrupt turn almost tripped him over. He fell clumsily onto his back, his arms fumbling with two bows. His wretched state was at its peak.
