Chapter 559: Chapter 117: Dance of the San Niang_1
After experiencing three major battles, the Firtree Militia were accustomed to victorious battles against overwhelming numbers. The situation today seemed absurd, where fifty-sixty men faced around ten opponents. The Firtree Militia, although a tad lethargic, still picked up their weapons. Their instinctive urge to fight blazed forth in defiance.
This time they did not charge, choosing instead to glare provocatively at the Holy Knights, their faces full of mockery.
Fat Luo was shaking his head in disbelief. These opponents were shorter than his blade. He could probably slice through several with a single swing. It didn’t present much of a challenge. The Panda warriors didn’t even have a single one dressed in Mithril Armor, they pulled out the Demon Hunter Spears from their backs, without letting go of their malt wine glasses. The sight of the fort-eight Hippo Bards was enough to provoke laughter and sniffles. Were they supposed to gang up on their adversaries like the Mastiff People did?
The Holy Knights were taken aback. They were never expecting the Beamon to so audaciously stand their ground within Valencia city, even drawing their weapons against the Holy Knights who represented divine authority.
The Holy Knights were zealous and dedicated, but not devoid of martial wisdom. The burly, robust Beamon in front of them breathed calmly, not the slightest bit perturbed, clearly not considering the Holy Knights any threat.
The leader of the Holy Knights, Hua Jin, knew that he’d been too brash when he stepped in. Trying to backtrack now would be difficult. He let out a low growl, his Dou Qi suddenly bursting forth, ready to leap into battle when a stern voice halted him.
"Hold!"
A female knight clad in finely-crafted Milanese plate armour strolled in from the shattered pub entrance, a helmet tucked under her arm. She had a rare crown of gemstone-blue hair. Her pretty face revealed a spellbinding heroism that she couldn’t hide. A twinkling sword and oak leaf motif set with precious gems decorated her breastplate. Hanging from her flawlessly white neck was a golden whistle suspended on a silver chain.
"Knights, I am disappointed with your actions! What if you accidentally injured Saintess Joan of Arc in recklessness?" The female knight scolded the thoughtless Holy Knights.
At her reprimand, all the Holy Knights bowed their heads and retreated, including the contemptuously arrogant Hua Jin. None of them treated her words lightly.
The female Holy Knight looked at Liu Shocked, while Liu Shocked looked back at her.
"Lord Richard, the Dragon Knight who defeated Lampard in the Double Dragon Ceremony, as expected, you’re quite the formidable warrior." The female Holy knight introduced herself eloquently, "I am Gaxia, vice-captain of the Sword and Oak Leaf Holy Knight Corps."
"Dragon Knight Gaxia, it’s a pleasure. Please set your formalities aside and speak your mind." Liu Shocked laughed heartily.
"As a revered Dragon officiator, respected Lord Richard, we can spar and converse later, but first, may we kindly have our Saintess Joan back?" Gaxia neither accepted nor denied the title of Dragon Knight. However, her demeanor, gaze, and voice was as calm and collected as bedrock, not revealing any inner fluctuations.
"Absolutely no problem." Liu Shocked glanced at the glistening tearful eyes of the little nun: "Little nun, your ride is here, hurry up and go. Stop bothering me!"
Little Nun Joan stubbornly glared at Liu, biting her beautiful lip - apparently filled with resentment.
"If you don’t leave, I might have to give you another twist," Liu Shocked raised his hand to intimidate her.
Little Nun Joan turned her head, tears falling from her eyes like broken pearls, yet she remained as immovable as a tree in a forest.
"Oh, my Emperor Polo!" Liu Shocked sighed with an annoyed face. He didn’t care about the Holy Knights and Dragon Knights, but this little nun was proving to be a real nuisance.
"You are the one hundredth evil I have vowed to convert." The little nun, her eyes rimmed in red, said in an unwavering tone.
"You actually did that to Saintess Joan..." Dragon Knight Gaxia’s gaze instantly turned fiery as her displeased gaze fell firmly on Liu, "Unbelievable! How could noble Dragon Clan choose a debauchee like you! Do you dare to duel with me?"
Despite the thick skins of Nana and Daisy, having been seasoned and hardened over such a long time, hearing these words, they couldn’t help but blush.
"If you win, you can take her! Losing? You can still take her. But as a representative of the Holy Vatican, you’ll have to agree to one thing for me." Liu Shocked was more than willing.
"As long as it’s within my power, I swear on my life that I’ll make it happen. It’s not open enough here, and if we start fighting, it might hurt innocent people. Follow me to the Colosseum." Dragon Knight Gaxia nodded and turned to leave, her sky-blue cloak flaring out. She quickly exited the pub.
"Ooh... a fight..." The Militia started cheering in chorus. Before Liu and the rest of the Holy Knights had moved, they had already swarmed out. There were so many of them that they ended up crowded at the door, making things chaotic. The pub door made a dull sound. The entrance of the pub, which had once featured a push-pull door, was forcibly widened by a few Hippo Bards who had barged and bumped their way out.
The pub owner wanted to cry.
Seeing that the Lord and his party were also following, Captain Luo Xi and his elfish wife, along with Deputy Commander Taige Warrior Dikanyo, decided to go along and watch. If the real Dragon officiator proved to be as formidable as the rumors suggested, they would still have time to pledge their allegiance later.
