Chapter 525: Chapter 112 - Provoking Dust Disputes_3

At these words, the faces of several beautiful women changed in unison. Ning Yu dropped the plate in her hand with a clatter, startling the Beamons at the other tables into turning their heads to look.

"Where did Duke Dorott get a fourth princess from?" Richard frowned.

"A daughter that Duke Dorott had just adopted before his death," Lord Mourinho spoke while brushing back his long hair.

"She wouldn’t be marrying me, would she?" Richard said cooly, swirling the rum in his cup. "She should be marrying one of our kingdom’s princes, right?"

"While that does make sense, whether they’ll publicize it that way or not is up to the Dorott officials. In any case, no human would be fool enough to come and investigate this matter. This isn’t up to the fourth princess; it’s up to us and Dorott’s current Duchess! Who else would she want to marry if not the hero who defeated them?". Lord Mourinho’s handsome face was filled with an envious smile. "I heard that Dorott’s fourth princess is an absolute stunner. She’s definitely worthy of you, Richard. I’m genuinely proud for you."

Richard narrowed his eyes. Old Richard knew that the most critical decision of his life had just presented itself.

"I even brought the Royal Edict from the Red Robed High Priest. As a priest, you should know what such a marriage edict means, shouldn’t you?" The High Priest said, his face bearing a slight smile. He signaled one of the elves to bring over an eye-catching golden book.

"I’m already married," Richard shrugged, not even looking at the golden book.

"It doesn’t matter, it’s not important," The High Priest said.

"Why say so?" Richard snapped his fingers, and immediately, a cigar was served to his mouth.

"The importance of this matter to Bimon Kingdom needs no explanation. It promises long-lasting peace for our kingdom, at least ostensibly. Trades will follow after the royal marriage, you will be made into a statue, revered by future priests," The High Priest raised his wine glass. "You will no longer have to serve as a priest, but as a duke, enjoying a life of leisure with the abundant dowry brought by the princess. The Temples will grant you an honorary title as well, you’re truly blessed! Haha...come... to this wonderful day, let me toast to your honor."

"If I agree to the marriage, I won’t remain a priest anymore? What do you mean by that?" Richard chuckled and blew a whistle.

"After a royal marriage, everyone has to step away. As a priest, of course, you’re no exception. After all, the Temples are the kingdom’s third most powerful organization. With the title of a human duke hanging over you, neither the Noble Inspection Court nor the Elder Council will consent your presence in any power structure. Honestly speaking, what’s wrong with idling away in bliss?" Lord Mourinho chuckled.

"I have no feelings towards her. I’m not an animal. I can’t marry a woman I don’t know. How is that acceptable?" Richard shook his head in refusal. "I am already a family man, I’m sorry, Professor Mourinho, I must decline."

"Didn’t you say you wanted to be a wealthy landowner? What’s wrong with taking another rich wife? How you treat her afterwards is up to you. Why refuse to live a good life?" Lord Mourinho’s eyebrows tightened slightly.

"Richard, our Bimon Kingdom’s laws permit polygamy. In fact, you seemed to have been practicing that already," Lady Serpent, the instructor, also chimed in.

Shaman Wei An and the Staff Shaman remained silent, with the only sound being from the somewhat simple-minded Racoon Shaman, Remel, who mumbled, "Such an outstanding priest... it’d be such a pity if he were to quit being one."

Richard remained silent, while the women at his side gazed at him longingly and complexly, as though anticipating an important moment.

"I’ll take that as a ’yes’," Lord Mourinho wiped his fingers on the table cloth and chuckled. "A marriage proposed by the Red Robed High Priest is almost as if decreed by the divine. You can’t decline even if you wanted to. It seems your dream of becoming a rich man will come true soon."

He’s forcing my hand! Richard seethed.

"I couldn’t care less for the title of a human duke. If this princess can marry anyone, why does she have to marry me? What’s so special about the Red Robed High Priest? Perhaps in a few years, I could become one too. Who would he listen to then?" Richard retorted sarcastically.

At his words, the women surrounding him all simultaneously heaved a sigh of relief - they had been holding their breaths for far too long.

"My little fool..." Lord Mourinho shook his head, bursting into laughter, "You took me seriously... I was merely kidding. Of course, a royal marriage should happen between princes of our Bimon Kingdom. That so-called edict in the golden book is actually my ledger, and you fell for it"

"You scared me," Richard also laughed.

On the opposite side of the table, Elder Andulan gave a signal to Lord Damai.

Lord Damai, who has lived for thousands of years, understood the signal. It was very simple, a glance at Richard, was enough to tell Richard, ’My good lord, you’ve fallen into a trap that left you no room for maneuver.’

Should I say that I was too impulsive or that this old fellow was too cunning? Richard ridiculed himself deep inside.
