It wasn’t so much overconfidence as faith in the power of the three royal families present. Even if Gerein and the giant parrot beast possess a formidable resistance to magic, the Sirens’ Soul Control Technique could at least cause dizziness and slowness. A Mermaid king’s Water Element magic wouldn’t be inferior to a human Magic Tutor’s. With so many Magic Shields in place, how much damage could the crossbows do?
